Thanks for sharing this! It’s awesome to see how this is done and understanding how much time, energy, and thought goes in to this industry. Also great to see how well these animals are taken care of!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Using sunlight and seawater is ingenious. I guess I am so used to seeing coral farms in a warehouse that it never occurred me to grow them like they grow in the wild.
Some of us were definitely surprised to see the use of natural sunlight-- but you are correct, it does make sense when you stop and think about it. Thanks for stopping by! :)
I love this, getting the info on how aqua-culture is done. In Holland we have a company called: De Jong marinelife, and always wanted to visit them for a tour to see how this works. Thanks to you I now have some knowledge on how it's done. Keep up the info and loving what you guys do for the hobby.
@@WaterboxAquariums Saving for a waterbox peninsula 25, hoop to be able yo have it by my birthday in September. Love these all in one systems you sell. Greetings
After watching this video, I finally can conclude that white natural light is the key to grow corals. Blue light is pretty much for us humans to watch our corals glow in the blue light. Thank you so much, I will adjust my white light to 12 hrs a day. And blue light for 4 hrs. Awesome education video. 👏
Isn’t the consensus that corals need blue light and will grow under just blue light but not white light? I’m pretty sure natural light isn’t equal to the white light you get from T5’s or LED.
Only concern I have with this facility is the frags ability to acclimate to artificial led lighting, if your culturing these frags with just sunlight alone success rate when putting these frags into home aquariums may be lower, I’m not sure
but unless you acclimate these corals under LED lighting they will not do as well for your average hobbiest. no hobbiest uses sun light so these corals will go through a very tough transition.
Just received my Penninsual mini 25 gal. Just wondering what days and times do you go live? Is it same time every week? And how is the best way to get live times? I am a subscriber and will most likely have a ton of question.
Ask your preferred local retailers to order ORA! If they do not already have an account set up, they can reach out to ORA directly to get started. You can also find ORA online through Live Aquaria.
Hi Jim! Here is their response: "The best clam we offer for the average aquarist would be the Derasa IF given adequate room to grow into the aquarium. This particular clam is extremely resilient, can withstand water parameters where a system is heavily fed, can tolerate a wide variety of lighting (the brighter the better for any clam though) and is one of the faster growing clams. Obviously, with its growth rate being quite a bit faster than the maxima, it will need a larger system over time. Overall, easy to keep in a system with normal reef parameters but calcium should be monitored and adjusted based on consumption."
Right? I think if your tank is REALLY massive its okay but for most tanks this isnt the case. But I think it would be good to breed them and set them free for repopulating purposes!

Thanks so much for tuning in, Matt! It really was a treat to see all of the work that is behind everything that ORA does!
Great video! Thanks for sharing, good to see a breeding facility like this that takes the time and effort, rather than just collecting from the wild.
Thank you so much!
Wow, what a facility! thank you for the tour! wish i could put corals in my greenhouse in Colorado...
That would be incredible!

What an amazing opportunity, thank you for sharing 🥰
Thank you so much for joining us! We're happy you enjoyed it. :)
So good to see! That’s nothing but the future🙌
Thanks for tuning in! We agree-- this is the future of our hobby and we are so excited.

Amazing video! Would love to see more videos like this
Thanks for the support, Ryan!
man i hope someday i can pay a visit to you guys, such an amazing farm 💗
ORA is legendary.
They certainly are!
I appreciate they just use sunlight, I like to see what the corals actually look light outside of those blue lights
The clam is enormous!!!
Somehow it seemed even more monstrous in person.
Awesome! 😊
Great vid. Very informative. Always thought aquaculture frags were grown under lights
It was definitely a surprise for us, too!
Well thank waterbox now I want a short tailed nurse shark 🤣
You and me both
Same here! That 'want' is becoming a 'need'.
I would die if I was there! The coolest thing ever!
It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime treat!
Special thanks to Martin Moe for figuring out how to do a lot of ornamental marine aquaculture.
Great video. I’m wondering if ORA is still breeding assessors. Haven’t seen those in a while.

I always beleave that the corals is the perfect feed for fish larvae and the natural way to convert nitrites in algaes. I'm i wrong

Ora the best farmer

I’m not sure if you know this, but what type of light you think wolf corals use! Most stores around the world still purchase wild;)
So efficient. Finally a supplier of corals that doesn't have an excuse to rip us off.
It was impressive to see how efficiently they operate! Thank you for watching, Samuel. :)
What did he call the trash cans that provide the water flow?
Inspiring

Hi Sheila! We go live every Wednesday at 6 PM and Thursdays at 1 PM (with the exception of this Thursday) EST.
Now I want to buy from these guys does anyone know how I would go about doing that

Amazing 👍
Thank you very much. :)
I’m curious what they do in a hurricane.
Pray
Can I export
If I want to buy coral in holeseal is it will be possible?
You can apply to become an ORA dealer here: www.orafarm.com/accountapp/
Interesting to hear how genetics works with clownfish
We agree!
That one clam he said was "one of the best for home aquarist", but the name got edited out. Anyone identify what it is?
Hi Jim! We will find out for you-- we've reached out to ORA and will let you know what they say ASAP. :)

Wasn’t this already uploaded?
This is a comprehensive video of our full visit-- this was segmented up and spread throughout our build episodes.
Nice
Thanks for joining us!
Darn it .. now I want a short tail nurse shark !!
They are irresistable!
That’s very Koo
Thank you very much!
At least he knows people absolutely despise those plugs
👍
Are they using sea water?
That is correct.
@@WaterboxAquariums Thank you for the answer.
Now, the only issue I see is the plastic containers everywhere. I'm not a crazy environmentalist, but we now know plastics transfer alot of bad stuff.
As cool as sharks are I really think they should just be left alone and not kept in home aquariums. Great video though!

7:45 Be nice, she just got fraged and hasn't grown out yet.
call of duty
Zero color in any thing can't grow collecter grade coral with just sun
Not true.
