      Would depend on what is burning and how much fire in the house some objects give off more smoke than others and even different types of smoke depending on the material being burned.

    Another issue with lava is that, where there is lava, there is generally a large quantity of unpleasant and toxic gasses. While much of what comes up with lava is water vapor (albeit superheated, which is pretty harmful in its own right), there is also large quantities of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and various hydrogen halides (like everyone's favorite, HCl, or hydrochloric acid). All of these are in a vapor form and all of them are dangerous in the quantities produced by volcanoes and lava vents. It won't just be the heat that kills you; it'll be that deep inhalation of acid that destroys the mucous membranes inside your sinuses, your lungs, and probably your eyes.

    -Water can save you from death at any falling distance.
    -Bullets always hit you in the shoulder if you are handsome enough. And that means no harm whatsoever.
    -Anybody can remove a bullet from your body without any side effect at all, only need to drop the bullet on a metal plate after.
    -You can survive several cuts from a sword or knife and keep fighting (if you are handsome enough again)
    -You always wake up from a coma with no damage. Maybe little amnesia.
    -No harm at all fron blanks, even if you put the gun in your mouth and fire it. If you are Nick Cage at least.
    -No harm at all from electricity, especialy magic/superpower kind.

Super hero is one of the few people that actually survive the accident and the Doctors experiments. In the case of the Fantastic four the Skrulls that showed up in the 2nd issue might have experiment on them in the first issue. The Skrulls knew who they were before anyone else did, and they were planning to wear disguises, they just decided to drop that idea.

    11. Sustained fire is accurate. If you aim to chest first shot will surely hit, but second may even go over the head. It is really difficult to hold the gun steady enough to get satisfactory results. Single fire if way more effective. Sustained fire should only be used in short burst unregularly in close combat.

    • @zatoth13
      @zatoth13 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      my dad-one of the best shots in his unit-proved the inaccuracy of sustained fire when a guy challenged him to using a semi automatic vs a full automatic. My dad fired three shots in the time it took to shoot a bunch from the full automatic, but all of my dad's hit the target.

    I would like to add one. CPR. Most of the time, when someone does CPR in a movie, the person survives and is miraculously able to continue. In reality, CPR is literally a last ditch effort, and to do it correctly, you HAVE to fracture their ribs. That is to say, in real life, if CPR does work, they're not entirely out of the woods.

    A few more movie lies:
    "Gasoline vapor doesn't exist." How many times have movies shown us characters standing in, or surrounded by, spilled gas while they flick on a lighter or light a match, and nothing happens until the lighter/match is dropped onto the liquid gas? In reality the vapor is explosive and much more dangerous than the liquid gasoline.
    "You can outrun an explosion." In reality, even low explosives such as black powder propagate at ridiculously high speeds compared to human reactions. High explosives detonate at supersonic speeds.
    "If you fall into lava, you'll sink." Lava is molten ROCK, which is much, much denser than a human body.
    "Cars explode like bombs if they catch fire or get in a wreck." Nope, they just burn.

    • @scottbilger9294
      @scottbilger9294 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a another myth. A cigarette won't ignite gasoline. If you throw a lit cigarette into a puddle of gasoline, it will just go out. I've done it. Even fumes, unless closely confined won't ignite from a cigarette.

      darkdragonsoul99
      Yes but for them to be the same thing as you claim the delivery mechanisms should be interchangeable which they are not venom is most potent in your blood that's it's definitive quality that's why it's injected poison is most potent when consumed that's it's definitive quality not how they are delivered they can be delivered anyway you can imagine but due to their properties and how they work each one has to be delivered in a unique specific way for maximum potency that's what makes them radically different again the delivery mechanism is irrelevant what matters is why that delivery mechanism is necessary

    • @Macephtopheles
      @Macephtopheles 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They used "poison" correctly. Yeah, they were mostly discussing venom from bites, but they also show the scene from Grimsby (or 'the Brothers Grimsby' in America) where he's hit by two poisoned darts and he sucks the poison out. Just because venom and poison (in the broad term) operate differently they are both forms of poisoning. The simple fact is that venom, even if it operates differently, *IS* a poison.

    Actually, you’d be surprised how difficult it is to hit a moving target in a chaotic environment. While hiding behind a car or table really is useless, running perpendicular to the shooter gives you better than a 70% chance of evasion with a hand gun and better than 50% (I believe that number is correct) with a machine gun.
    Also, yes, there might be hard objects in a dumpster but if you really had to, a person could jump out of a 5th story window into a dumpster and not only survive but get out and run away ~ providing he/she actually landed directly in the dumpster and there were no aforementioned objects.

      It all really depends on distance and the size of the warhead. At 700 meters, a human being can survive a 14 kiloton nuclear blast if they're protected by something thick, heavy, and radiation shielded- like the armor of a tank. Double the distance, with a lead lined refrigerator, it would certainly increase your chance of survival. As depicted in the movie? Yeah, you're dead, but it's not impossible, and it's certainly better then bending down and kissing your butt goodbye.

    • @JohnDoe-qx3zs
      @JohnDoe-qx3zs 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +david koonce In the movie, this was a one-off prototype refrigerator built specifically for the nuclear test. It would be reasonable to think the nuke-testing scientists that did the famous "build a house filled with stuff and crash test dummies in the blastzone of a nuke" experiments, would have systematically tested construction variations, such as specially reinforced fridges that could be distributed during peacetime and function as shelters during enemy attacks. Not that much in that movie made sense.

    If someone has died, be it from asphyxiation, massive trauma, anything, just push on their chest a few times and there is a good chance they will cough, wake up and be almost good as new. And if those few seconds of utterly incompetent external heart massage don't work, you should give up and on your own completely ignorant medical expertise, declare the patient dead. Argh!
    Ultra high resolution images can be gotten from tiny croppings of low resolution photographs, by having an 'expert' work on it with a computer for a while. Not!

    Bad guys do not go flying or even just drop whenever you hit them with a bullet. Most of the time if you are trying to hard stop an opponent, you need to put multiple rounds into them and do it fast. Those times you've heard of a cop putting a dozen rounds into someone, it wasn't the cop being overly exuberant, it was the cop firing the number of rounds that were needed.
    You do not survive explosions by virtue of running away from them. Cars do not explode whenever involved in a serious accident, nor to they explode when going over cliffs.
    Guns use ammo and the audience can count.

    Hiding behind a car or a table in a gun fight is better than nothing. The two immediate advantages that come to mind are... 1) -- Assuming the vehicle or table is large enough, it hides you from whomever is shooting at you, which takes away their ability to aim well. 2) -- The more the bullet has to hit before hitting you, the slower it will be going if and when it hits you. *One night, during WWII, Star Trek actor James Doohan, while serving with the Royal Canadian Artillery, was shot **_SIX_** times by a nervous sentry* -- four in the legs, one that took his middle finger of his right hand, and one square in the chest. The first five were survivable, but the one in his chest should have killed him, however... instead of hitting him, the bullet hit his silver cigarette lighter, and that tiny lighter was all the difference between living and dying. So, if you someday accidentally walk into the middle of a gun-battle, or find yourself put into one on purpose... go ahead and hide behind something... it's better than nothing at all.

  • @colliric

    Star Wars explains the limb thing adequately. The Lightsaber is so hot it actually cauterizes wounds and burns them immediatly shut, hence there is no blood flow. When Luke and Anakin get their arms cut off there is no blood, only burnt flesh. We see Anakin's arm in particular is white hot.

    Using Star Wars characters as examples of getting limbs chopped off isn't fair. For one thing, we don't know if light sabers would provide enough heat to cauterize the wound and reduce blood loss. Also, these people are in a galaxy far, far away. They look human, but we don't know for sure if their physiology is like ours. Maybe they really can lose a limb and call it a flesh wound.

    This is one of the most grossly inaccurate videos I've ever seen. Like, how you mix up poison and venom. A snake bite carries venom. Venom, when ingested, typically isn't harmful. It has to go into the bloodstream.
    As far as hiding behind things like doors or whatever to avoid getting shot, actually, yes, fucking do that. It may not completely stop an oncoming bullet, but what it will do it slow it down and take away some of the energy from the bullet's momentum and it will be less likely to kill or seriously injure you. More importantly, people have been saved by Bibles stopping bullets. That's not something Hollywood made up. That actually has happened. There's at least two verifiable accounts and several that were claimed and plausible.
    Most importantly, you talk about machine guns then bring up AK-47's. An AK-47 is not a machine gun, it's an automatic assault rifle. Then again, I guess I wouldn't have known that either if it weren't for my time in the Army, so I guess I can't knock you too hard for that.
    But, still, venom and poison aren't the same. That's the big one.

      also you don't want to slow a bullet down because a bullet stuck in your body is much worse then it going through your body especially if you cant get immediate medical attention the main reason seekimg cover is a good idea is trying to break line of sight because running a way and leaving yourself wide open is a good way to die. as for the bible yes a bible would stop most bullets because paper with the exception of sand is the best way to stop a bullet funnily enough. and the thing about machine guns and automatic rifles being different things well I did not know that. if you could explain it to me I would be very interested to hear it.

    Though someone has already pointed out the idiocy of the venom argument, Number 6 is completely wrong as well. The question of whether or not you survive a lost limb or not is almost entirely dependent on what you do to address the injury in the 5-10 minutes you will have before bleeding out. As someone who has actually lost a limb and had it replaced, I can attest to this as fact. As long as you are intelligent enough to apply a tourniquet immediately, you will probably survive even if it takes several hours (or even a few days) to get medical attention. In my own case I had an accident in which a window cut my arm completely off, just below the elbow (the bone was still intact but the entire non-bone part was cut through). I was still conscious and able to grab a plastic bag on the ground and immediately bind it tight. It helped that a person came to my assistance fairly quickly, and helped me secure the tourniquet. But it was nearly an hour before an ambulance got there. I lost a lot of blood but never even lost consciousness. This isnt a one-off "lucky escape" either. There was even a movie about a guy who cut off his own arm to free himself from being trapped under a boulder. Again, he survived despite needing a day or more before he reached medical professionals.
    Lecter, who is a doctor and had a houseful of potential items to use , surely would have had a tourniquet applied in a matter of seconds. Luke had the wound cauterized by a lightsaber, so might not even have needed a tourniquet. The clip included in your video had the guy already tourniquetted up. All three cases would NOT have been life threatening (assuming the person kept their head, and applied a tourniquet.

    A few more lies from Hollyweird; about guns-the shooter runs out of ammo with an automatic pistol and it clicks (the sound of the hammer hitting and no discharged round). It DOESN'T CLICK! The slide locks back because the magazine has a stop on it and the hammer cannot move! A revolver will do this but an automatic will not. And a revolver only fire 6 six bullets, not the 83 that Roy Rogers's six shooter fires! Also, and this is a big lie that even politicians believe; suppressors do NOT mute a gun! They drop the decibel level from the level of a gun shot to the level of a jack hammer. Just below the permanent hearing loss threshold. No sneaky assassins with silencers... About police; no, if you ask an officer if he is a cop he does not have to tell you. And yes the charges will stick. No, an officer does not need to read the Miranda warning after putting on the restraints. And yes, the charges will still stick. (Miranda only need be read prior to the beginning of a custodial [under arrest] interview).

    Bullets are, in fact, made generally of copper (soft metal) and lead (softer metal). But they puncture through steel, wood, whatever shield you see in movies, based on CONCUSSIVE SHOCK to the surface. The impacted material fragments or bends away from the concussion, leaving a hole through the bullet, though mangled, smashed, or even in pieces continues at a slower rate (compared to muzzle velocity).
    Note: mangled, smashed, and fragmented bullets WILL STILL KILL YOU. Just look at hollow point ammunition, it doesn't do it's job until it warps due to smashing into something!

      Unless it's a rare and uber secret type of super cop car, bullets are whizzing strait through.. The only point to hiding behind a door is to try and obscure your location.. Not to provide bullet resistance.. Flat as can be with no cover is better than upright behind a door or tree or wall made of gypsum. I can assure you, even tiny 22LR runs through 1' thick trees, so...
      3" thick piece of steel (reinforced, even??) in modern car doors? I call BS.. Prove it. Having worked on tons of cars, modern, and not, I've never seen a 3" thick chunk of any sort of metal.. Let alone reinforced steel.. Even if there were, a high powered rifle would throw bits about. Better by far to have 3-4" of sandbag. Both would make the car get like 2 mpg.. But sand is a better stopper with less thrown pieces.. Or so I've seen in my experience.. Of course, some folks watch too many movies... Maybe I'm that guy.

The German's understoid this when they developed the Sturmgewhr 44. Automatic fire was for supression only. The Sturmgewhr was to be used as a semiautomatic rifle like the M-1 most of the time. This list as much as it is trying to be "Clever" and tell off movies for being "Wrong" gets a number of things wrong itself. First of all Snakes don't inject poison, they inject Venom. Next, in the case of Star Wars characters getting their limbs cut off by lightsabers, for the most part, they cauterise the wounds and stop bleeding from taking place (Though the scene in the canteen is considered a error now). And in the case of Robocop, he actually did die from his own limb getting blown off, the rest were taken off surgically. And lastly, in Lethal Weapon 2, the bomb in that scene had no timer and no wires were cut to diffuse it. Liquid nitrogen was used to freeze it as best as possible to slow it down to give the officer enough time to jump into a cast iron bathtub covered with bomb blankets. So gotta give these movies some credit and not just shit on them when you too made some errors.

    1. Bullets don't "tend to be made out of hard metal." Bullets, discounting armor penetrating rounds, are made out of lead which is a very soft metal.
    2. Books actually are pretty good at stopping standard pistols rounds. A thick bible, for instance, would have a pretty good chance at stopping a typical bullet of the most common pistols rounds. Mythbusters actually used half phone books as armour and other than the .50 BMG, they stopped everything.
    3. "Any contact with poison is going to have consequences and putting it in your mouth where it can be ingested is a quick recipe for disaster" Snakes DO NOT INJECT POISON! This goes for spiders, bees, etc; they inject venom. The difference being that venom must be injected in to the blood steam. If you swallow a typical "bite's worth" of rattlesnake venom or just swallow an entire black widow, as long as it didn't bite you in the process, you are almost certainly going to be fine (a poison dart frog on the hand . . . )
    4. Untrained people are a lot less accurate with guns than you think. Some of it is that, possibly due to movies, people who don't own guns may underestimate just how hard it is to hit a moving target like a person, especially with something like a handgun, from ranges even as short 5-10 meters. Add on top of that that you are being fired upon at the same time. Plus, the vast majority of people don't want to kill anyone. While the specific number may be off a little, it is said that only about 2% of soldiers shoot to kill. They tend to intentionally miss, whether they know that is what they are doing or not. Over the past century modern nations have changed their military training and have almost entirely gotten rid of this issue. As a result, when going up against untrained militias as we did in Somalia, U.S. troops hit the enemy with ease but the far more numerous Somalians missed well over 99% of the time despite using MACHINE GUNS. If you watch the movie Black Hawk Down, the inaccuracy of the Somalians is pretty well represented.
    Overall: your video on "lies told by movies" is you telling a bunch of lies.

    Here's one you missed: EXPLOSIONS DON'T KILL YOU; SHRAPNEL/FRAGMENTATION DOES.
    Even many "realistic" films love to show military battles or fire fights with explosions going off all around our heroes. Maybe they're in a warzone and the area is being shelled or maybe someone just tossed a grenade. In most of these films, the movie logic seems to be that as long as someone isn't touched by the flames of an explosion, they'll just be safely blown aside by the blast or ignore it entirely.
    In the real world, the little pieces of metal that fly in all directions out from the explosion are what's going to tear your body to shreds. Nevertheless, movies still love to show deadly explosions happening around a character who just ends up a little dusty. It's kind of like the lava example but it happens way more frequently.
    Perhaps the biggest problem with this is that it gives us a sanitized, action-hero perception of war in which a battle is like a fireworks show instead of a hellish experience in which men are frequently blown into pieces.

    #1: to be fair, while the point about clocks and wire color coding is quite valid, the idea that bombs are "nothing to worry about" is certainly not borne out in the film. It's an incredibly tense period in the film, and Riggs' insanity/loyalty are highlighted by the fact he chooses to stay with Murtaugh. Yes, it all works out in the end. No, it isn't played off as some simple, easy-to-defeat measure, free from drama and risk.
