With the demise of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact bloc, NATO probably became unnecessary. The fact that Russia can not even take out Ukraine gives proof they are not such a major threat to warrant this huge NATO alliance. If the countries in eastern and central Europe want to form a new alliance to offset Russian power, that would make sense and likely be more effective than the bloated NATO organization anyways.

For example, Ireland, Estonia, Romania and Poland. Other European countries are not doing so well -- Germany being the biggest under-performer. To bad Ukraine had to pay such a huge price for it before we understood it. Its OK to no longer want to have the world leader roll but its not to much to ask for a word in advance before USA got that kind of ideas. EU has a very good economy and USA dont. All I'm getting from this video is that we shouldn't put an indictment on a would-be invader of a smaller country, but rather, we should somehow blame the country that's getting invaded... why are we essentially ok and accepting the fact that our most notorious enemies(China and Russia) are the ones who are most threatening right now to invade? China is threatening Taiwan, and Russia is already bombarding Ukraine. It's absurd to just accept the fact that they can expand and gain more power by gaining more territory.

For example, Ireland, Estonia, Romania and Poland. Other European countries are not doing so well -- Germany being the biggest under-performer. Nor, for that matter, does the EU have an actual military or military policy. The EU does not have a common foreign policy, either. Some EU members are actually credible, serious countries. Poland and Romania are quickly becoming forces to be reckoned with. France remains a serious player on the world stage, in spite of Macron's best efforts to ruin it. (He has at least done significant work on economic reforms, so credit is given when and where it's due) Others, such as Germany, are a joke. Germany has no foreign policy credibility, no military credibility and even its economy is now a joke. I had to laugh when I read that snap elections might not be able to be held in January because they might not be able to source enough paper for ballots so soon after Christmas.

This will promote local nuclear, hydro, and solar power and reduce susceptibility to hostile powers.
