This is coming from an old guy. Been watching your channel for about a year and I just want to tell you how impressed I am with how far you have come in your car knowledge. Love your go get em attitude! Keep it up!
PB Blaster IS the best rust penetration product out there! Im 60 and ive only had one new car so most of my days ive been working on old cars and trucks. This stuff works the best.
In the late 1980's and early 90's, I had a 1963 Bonneville that I had to replace the entire power steering set up on (pump, gear box, all the hoses, idler arm, tie rod ends, center drag) after having the car for just a few days. Then a week later I had one of the rubber brake lines on the front end rupture while I was driving. THANKFULLY the emergency brakes still worked on the car. Amazingly Year1 actually had all the parts I needed to make all those, and a few more repairs. I remember the feeling I had when we took the steering components off the car, and realized just how close to death that car made me while I was driving it. The front end was so bad, that if I caught a nasty crack in the pavement, I would make an unexpected lane change. Glad to see you got yours fixed too!!! Where did you get your isopropyl alcohol????? I can't find it ANYWHERE where I live.
How the hell do you not have 100k subs??? Love your videos man, been here for a long time... Love the Galaxie. I'm actually trying to find a 64 as well, such a sweet looking car
DUDE!!! The painstakingly way you have to work around conditions without lifts etc, bravo my friend, bravo. I read earlier about 100K... we need to get you that. DIEHARD followers lets help Craig out PLEASE!!!
If memory serves me correctly, the “C” on the water pump designates he design year of the pump, and later year vehicles will have the same number, up until a modification is made, and a suffix number is added. Love your cars!
ken roth he was correct when he said C9 stands for 69. Letter is decade C=1960's Number is the year Next letter is the division, A is Ford division, V is Lincoln etc. Next letter is the engineering group, E is engine parts. These date codes don't change each year, they only change if the part is changed in some way. So a part can be used for a number of years with the same code on it.
Its probably been memtionrd before but the Red Galaxy would make a great looking retro NASCAR reproduction. You have the wheels, interior and wiring is a mess. A little sheet metal work, retro decals and bingo youll be the hit of the car shows. If not, the only one. Thanks for the great videos. Byfar my favorite channel. Be well man.
Craig, I have a 63 Galaxie as well. My power steering leaks just as bad. Who did you use to buy all the new parts through. Any chance you can give a parts list?
Congrats glad to see the ole "Gal" on the streets again. Back in day, owned four of them(tho one was parts). Sold last one in '74. C9 is a '69 pump but AFAIK all FE pumps from '65 to '76 were readily interchangeable. The '64-earlier pumps had a alignment post the that the generator bracket fitted on to. Once upgraded to alt the post was no longer needed, possibly prevented mounting of alternator bracket..
Once you get these '60's era cars dialed in, and everything working properly they are great cars to daily drive. I had a '64 Skylark (Buick) 4dr sedan that was my daily driver for ten years.
Sorry, entered wiper, and it gave me light switch. I tried again, and there are lots of them, but you need to know the Ford part number to be sure you get the right one
Quick question....I have a 64 Galaxie with a 390 fe motor. Where did you hook up the oil pressure line on the motor for the after market gauge, please let me know thank you love the videos
Long time viewer new subscriber. I really like your videos. I have replaced a lot of water pumps on a lot of different cars. In each case they started leaking from the weep holes. Fords, Chevy's Cadillacs, even a big old Mercury Grand Marquis, and lots of Buicks. All leak the same way. And I discovered PB Blaster from watching Flying Sparks Garage. Now I wouldn't be without the stuff.
Awesome car man! Reminds me of a super stock Galaxie, great look! C&G Ford is great! Use em all the time for our 64' Falcon. Wish it was a Galaxie though, if I squint hard enough at it, it sorta resembles one, haha
looooooove it just ran across your channel. i have a 64 galaxy 4 door that i have been working on for a long time here and there but it has kinda been pushed to the side over the last few years this video is tempting me to get her back out and start back up on her old big butt
You can swap out that old steering junk for a more modern assembly from a 80s crownvic might have to make a bracket for the steering box to give the frame some strength
I’ve had issues getting the intake to seal on my 390. I’ve changed the intake gaskets 4 times and now I’m gonna go with an aluminum intake and save myself 70lbs loll.
Just picked myself up an all original 99% rust free 64 galaxie 500 4 door sedan. White with red interior. 352 4bbl automatic. Running and driving decently. What's better than 1 galaxie to work on, two LOL! Somehow the original radio works awesome and the original clock works and holds perfect time. Yeah, that never happens..
@@Thecraig909 I looked for the better part of 2 years and this was the first one I had a chance to actually go look at. The guy I bought it from had someone coming out before me but he didnt show up. His loss! Car sold new in oregon and was a 1 owner for 30 years.
Try checking car-part.com for shit like this sometimes, I found an old edelbrock sp2p intake for a 390 at a place on there once and had them ship it to me for like $150, you'd be surprised what you can find from scrapyards on there
I had a friend of mine years ago rebuild his steering ram and somehow he got the direction pistons outta wack and when he got finished with it he reached into the car thru the steering wheel to start it, and when the pressure came up it pushed the steering ram all the way to the left spinning the steering wheel, and broke his arm...😵... I'll never forget that day I don't know who was screaming louder the power steering pump or Jimmy that was working on the car... So be careful....
Criag, It's 60 -70 s Ford. It will ever be "Fixed", that's just the nature of the beast. Drive it for a while, you'll see what I mean. You love fords? That's nice. Let me know what you get into when you realize you need a good car.
It's amazing how Craig did all that stuff to the car and didn't even mess his hair up 😂
Probably uses 50 weight.
majcrash 😂😂

The “4v” doesn’t mean 4 valve. It means “4 Venturi” which refers to the 4 venturies in a 4 barrel carburetor
YUP

I appreciate the kind words. I’m working hard. We’ll get there!
I think yellow lights up front on the Galaxy would look good, it would match the truck!
When you pull the fuel tank take it to a radiator repair shop and have them tank it. It will come out looking like new.
Yup that’s the way to go. Think the shop charged me 80 or 90 bucks. 100% worth it.

Why haven't you upgraded or change it to a conversion?Possibly steering box pump from another ford product

Craig where did you get that tool for separating the ball joints?
* tie rod ends
How would the galaxy look with the nascar wheels
They already tried that Kruger !
@@bradzimmerman3171 🤔 some where I missed something 😂
im working on a 64 galaxie 500 any where to find parts for it need a wipe switch
I just googled 1964 Ford Galaxie, headlight switch, and found a bunch, from less than 20 bucks, to 75.00.
Sorry, entered wiper, and it gave me light switch. I tried again, and there are lots of them, but you need to know the Ford part number to be sure you get the right one

Isn't it amazing how new parts on a old car work! Lot cooler than some POS off the show room floor, builds up street cred!
how much does an alignment cost where you live?
adjust the steering box preload/backlash to take the play out of the steering wheel.
Wow, some heavy drinking for that unboxing!
You can get a new rubber bellows for that ram.
Long as your moving your good.
One nice thing they will be able to get your steering wheel clocked right when you get it aligned.
i had one of those steering systems on my 72 maverick, what a pain in the butt.

I have a 63, a 64, Merc and a 66 Comet had to rebuild all of the steering components on every one.
My 65 289 had 80s parts on it.
Very cool video and project!!!😎👍🏼❤️🇺🇸

Queria ver como ficaria esse Ford com os pneus slicks
5 Star Cragar rims, classic.
That's awesome
It’s funny because this is the second video in a row that I watched that has an FE with a bad water pump, what’s the chance
I wish we had PB Blaster in my country, South Africa
I’ve had issues getting the intake to seal on my 390. I’ve changed the intake gaskets 4 times and now I’m gonna go with an aluminum intake and save myself 70lbs loll.
Is that a reasonably high compression engine? They way it started immediately on a flick of the key makes me wonder.
I think the 390 in the '64 Galaxie was right around 10:1.
Awesome 👍😎

you can have that original pump rebuilt - I'd keep it and do that.
when you rebuild the engine always replace the water pump and oil pump. and all the hoses.
Great video
Got the racing pick em up and look at em gauges
Hi for what it is worth those old ford's were some of the best handling cars in Nass car in there day good luck nice old car
Replace that fuel tank.It ll keep sending crap into the filter and youll be stranded on the road one fine day. That wiring needs neatening btw......
There a little bit more than play in that control valve. But you cant accurately test it with the car off. Anyways it leaks so it needs resealed.😬
Now to get busy on the RED galaxy.
Yessir
It's just a "parts car" yhea sure lol I'm happy that it isn't one now
you should remove your "watch" when working on any of your Vehicle's. I ruined a few good wristwatch when I was your age. Nice Car project!
Craig buy a 65 mercury comet it would fit well with the Galaxy
I totally agree
@@Thecraig909 I dm you on Instagram I have a baby blue 65 mercury 4 door comet 3 speed on tree and 200 inline6 its such a amazing and fun car

Ha ha Ernest is talkng Toyota, who wants a 60-70s Japanese inspiration NO! go with the Ford or maybe (eek) Chrysler (fiat)
I still don't get the extra past tense usage. "This has never been ran." It should be run. Why ran?
OMG incredible amount of talking..🤮
