Nothing like Pam’s stream of consciousness and she often makes me cry laughing. Such sophisticated and intelligent humor with no games, shtick or manufactured persona with vocal tics. THIS one is epic. Oh and did I say I LOVE her approach and style!

Those library cards were used in my grade school library in the 80s. The librarian would stamp the return date on that and when the 1 was covered they would flip it. This was the best way to tell if a book was popular.

Same. We went to our little library almost every day. I was in that very same library in my grade school when the Challenger blew up on live tv. They had set it up for us in that library. Most of the kids thought it was a big joke or something that wasn’t real, but I saw the teachers’ faces and knew something was wrong. I moved to NH twenty years ago not realizing that Christa-McAuliffe was from Concord, NH and my son went to fifth grade in the brand new school named after her. I’m sure everyone here remembered the tragedy for many years, but for me, I was so young and grew up on the other side of the US. How the circle turns!

Tips from the trenches 😁: Ink your edges before adding the "word tape" and the pieces trimmed off work good for clusters and decorated paperclips. I always put it in water so I can rub off any remaining paper so when used, the paper you apply it to doesn't fill it in to make it look like a piece of book page was just taped to the page or item you are decorating. It makes the words pop more. TFS Regards to the menagerie and Papa too. Hope you all have a great day. 🌞

I used to make my own classroom transparencies back in the days of overhead projectors. I used clear Contac paper and did that water soak to get the backing off.

😂 when Pam said it (gives it that Nature Struggle look!) I Love Pam, my most watched, most beloved TH-cam channel is Pam at the Paper Outpost! I like the tape/ book trick, I bet it would look cool to use the page that the text has been partly stripped off of to put a stamp or stencil on , ohh or maybe add ink or paint to the naked strip and use the book page somehow in the journal, or to make Ephemera with. 😊

Those library cards are from the mid 60's to the early 80's. When the librarian came in to work in the morning, they had to set the current date and the would inserted the card into the machine that the librarian set the current date. Then when you came up with your book and library ID card they inserted your ID card into the machine and it loaded your info (name, address, and date) then they took the card from the book pocket and inserted it into a slot on the front of the machine and it stamped the date on the card. The numbers 1-4 told the librarian to not go to the next section until the previous number section was filled. Then you were responsible for the card as they were then inserted back into the pocket so you could not forget the return date. (I always took it out of the pocket and used it as a bookmark.) 😜😃🔖📘

Hi Pam, I'm new to junk journaling having been a mixed media artist for years I have collected LOTS of stuff. I tried this tape trick on some book marks. It's pretty cool! They look laminated. One of the sheets I used was an old fragile page from a Bible. When I pressed and then lifted the tape it brought up the whole paper and didn't separate the text from paper fibers. So...I ran it under the faucet to get it wet, let it sit for a minute and rubbed off the paper fibers with a paper towel. This worked very well. I could remove as much of the fiber as I wanted for transpareny and it left the text intact. Just an FYI if you ever encounter this problem.

In my school library, when they used this style in books, it served the same purpose as the lined ones (to keep the return dates in order), except this style always allows the current due date to be visible from the top of the pocket. Once quad 1 was full, it could be flipped and the quad 2 would be at the top and ready to be stamped.

Besides book pages, you can also use magazine pages, flyers, and junk mail! Some magazine and flyer pages are so thin the whole page sticks to the tape, not just the print surface, so experiment and see what effects you like. If the paper is too thin, just use it as usual without the tape.🙂

Cool! I bet it would look neat to stencil the paper you are gluing the text to beforehand so you can see it under the text... 😊 If the tape didn't pick up all the text you could really see it.
