Shields guitar playing over Dinosaur tunes feels incredibly right! Fantastic!
These guys are part of the reason that I’ve had a crippling jazzmaster fixation for the last 30 years
Yup!!!
which one? Robert Smith himself played a Jazzmaster in the 79/80
@@michelsalgado-mn5oeJ and Kevin both pioneered it for alt indie rock. But J inspired Kevin so i guess it's his fault
@@predeterminedmeat5024i just said Robert Smith from the cure used the jaZzmaster long time before than mascis and shields. we can see the cure influences in both of their bands, how they use classic instruments on new Styles of músic. big Big Band , the cure.
So cool! I always thought "Tarpit" was a big influence on MBV's sound. It was so fun to watch!!!!
Loved this venue in the early 90's, saw some great bands.....
Tarpit with Kevin Shields? This is a sonic wet dream!! 😊
Kevin's glide guitar technique fits Tarpit sooo well
Tarpit é a canção mais shoegaze do Dinosaur Jr, certamente essa muralha de guitarras influenciou muitas bandas na época
5:07 Just Like Heaven
jay mascis solos + kevin shields tremolos= just like heaven !!!! but where is THURSTON MOORE ??? it should be the ultimate band
Or LEE RANALDO? Everyone forgets Lee
yeah, Lee of course! and Ira Kaplan too! @@foxgirl1822
miss Robert Smith on voice
Lee has played guitar with them before so that's possible. J seems to be more buddy buddy with Kim and Lee than Thurston
@@predeterminedmeat5024Lee sings on Little Fury Things too
Supreme (Jazzmaster) Gods!
30 years later and still great...
I vaguely remember Dinosaur Jr did a few Cure covers back in their day? Great jangly band.
They covered just like heaven on their 1987 album "you're living all over me." Definitely would not describe Dino Jr as jangly though, unless you mean the cure.
@@BigAl6405 their 1st album was jangly tho
@@FilipPandrcodd mix of guitar stylings from Robert Smith, Bernard Sumner, Mick Taylor, Rowland S. Howard, and Ron Asheton… etc. On the debut Dinosaur album..
Noise gates be damned!
Very nice.
I wish I'd known about this gig, I would have been there. Ah well, at least this is on youtube....
The Impossibles did a great cover of Tarpit (produced by Kevin Shields, too, I seem to remember)
I wonder how many pedals were on stage lol
Lou's smile at 0:53 as Kevin goes in with fucking warbling monster guitar technique.
Twinsies!
Also great that he's using his glide guitar technique for the song.
i'm so happy for my ears I wasn't there
woah man this sounds great
Sounds great! ❤
The best.
🤘🤘🤘
I would've actually died had I been in that audience
all those years good old Kev spent not washing his mop.
01:38 Good stuff!
was Robert Smith there? this would make him very happy
Kev borrowed one of J’s hats.
Guessing the rest of the show without Kevin Shields was like a million decibels quieter
jazzmasters jazzmasters blah blah blah jazzmasters I love jazzmasters etc
Their hair has become blue and puffy.

The Dublin Groundhog Kevin Shields has made a rare appearance, if he doesn't see his shadow it's 100 new tunings on 100 different jazz masters. If he sees his shadow, it will be another 25 years before a new album.
