Gedeo Crystal Resin plus Gedeo Resin Plaster which you can find in art shops is a good alternative and potentially cheaper alternative to Green stuff world resin powder and the AK resin stuff if you can't find it in your part of the world. This is what I used and it give the same results in the video. Great tutorial, very easy to pull off this masterclass.
I did some search for those products, but it seems that for me AK and GSW is cheaper. But yea, there are for sure some cheaper similiar products, but I trust those brands, well... AK more than GSW, but it works :)
I watched most of this with casual interest, taking a few notes, until I saw that final ice effect. WOW - that really ties everything together! Time to rewatch and then give it a try. Beautiful work.
Really great tutorial, followed your steps, even got the scale colours (which I love!) and the snow microballoons... this looks really nice and looks perfekt for my world eaters :D thank you very much!
Hey dude! Do you have any tips for helping the ak resin ice cure? Mine are all coming out gooey. I use 4ml resin to 1ml hardener. Left it in the gsw mold for 3 days, the top was hard but the bottom is still sludgy. Any help is greatly appreciated so I can get the most out of this amazing tutorial! Cheers
So I'm thinking of doing this for my White Company, but for the Gūijiă I kind of want it to have one leg like _in_ the water in some way. (Like it broke through the ice and is stepping out onto the bank) Do you have any reccomendations for making the water around the leg look like it's moving and not still?
Why do you make the base from resin acrylic? Doesn't it increase the cost by a huge amount? Wouldn't it be easier if you used a plastic base or an mdf one?
Its easier to put magnets in them and its much more resistant. Glued with ca to plastic, they are much easier to break. And no, its actually cheaper. Pack of 20 bases is 3.50 euro and box of resin is 4.95. So I can make much more than 20.
This is crazy good! Would you be able to post a tutorial on how you made the silicone mold? I can’t find a mold like that for bases and I’d love to try this technique!
Right now I have no plans for such tutorial. But in a future I will make more molds and maybe will record the process. But! You could make templates with GSW silicone molds and their acrylic resin. And then just watch some tutorials on sillicone mold making, there are a lot of them and much better quality that I could ever make :D
Did you have to do multiple pours of the resin to get your ice that thick? My resin doesn't cure properly if I pour it that thick. Amazing video by the way! Using this for my Sisters of Battle army!
I did one pour. Maybe you did mistake in mixing? Resin is sometimes really annoying. You need to measure it really good or you can end up with sticky goo (did that, learned my lesson :D ) And thanks! Glad that you liked it.
@@eviltouchproductions ahhh I see thanks!! Awesome. One more question. I’ve followed all the steps and so far so good. Only thing I can’t seem to get right is the ak ice surfacer. I tried to put it on and dab it a bit but it dries completely flat and glossy, not at all frosty. Anything I am doing wrong? Thanks!
@@Gdohhhrzzzz Hmm, cant help with that. Maybe try to shake it a bit more before applying? Or try to speed up drying with blowdryer. Had no problems with this product, yet... :)
With 2 part sillicone. First Ive made many templates using Greenstuff World sillicone moulds (its showed in this video) and waterbased resin (filled it to the edge). Then made a form and poured sillicone.
@@joefromnorwich so it would be only plastic/resin miniatures? Then you only need to use CA glue and put a bit of snowy paste at their feet so it will additionaly attach them to the base.
Yes, this is the all of the above approach I was looking for. I can take any part from this tutorial I want. Well done.

This is the best snowbase on youtube. Subbed

Excellent base tutorial with many good tips and tricks. Thanks a lot 👍
This looks amazing - I am definitely taking tips for the iced lake scenic base im going to make!

What sort of glue would you use to stick a model to the base? Surely not superglue as it would ruin some of the finish no?
Im always attaching the mini before adding the snow. Its easier and I can better blend mini with the base.

@@eviltouchproductions good to know!! Thanks for the reply! :)
Fantastic video, very inspiring.
I’m really new to resin pouring and what not. How do you get the resin to not stick to the mould?
Resin, by default, wont stick to sillicone (well, it can, but only if sillicone mold is damaged, somehow very porous and/or well worn from usage).
Great work mate

It looks nice, but also seems expensive with all the branded kits.
Well, yes and no. I gladly pay a bit more for a good quality product and it lasts for a long time.
Fantastic tutorial!! What did you do the drybrush with? What’s “base green”? Thanks for the awesome content!!! I’m making my own :)
Used offwhite to drybrush. And I should clarify that a bit better, I tinted base colors to get more greenish/turquoise hue :)

How did you make the blue base mould ? :0

Okay :0 Do your silicone need to be high temperature friendly for ice/water resin you used in this video (or other)?
@@kevinsgame6635 Pretty much standard casting sillicone. If I remember correctly, I used MM 922.
How do you attach the mini to that base?
Drilling small holes and pinning it.

I can't find AK Ice Surfacer anywhere, not even on their own website? Discontinued product? :/ Any alternative that does the same thing?
Its part of Resin Ice box. Sadly it isnt sold separate.
