www.awesomefish...
Thank you I grew up without a father and my mom didn’t know how to tie a knot this video helped me catch my first bass!
Great to hear man 👍 good job
Same bro good job
Nice bro
I grew up without a father to! My awesome neighbors showed me how!!
When my Nephew was young I use to take him and 3 of his little friend fishing all the time 2 of them didn't have fathers or no one to show them how to fish. That was 30 years ago the one kid is Married with kids and take his family fishing all the time, even thanked me for taking him when he was older, the other kid was from a really broken home now he is a Principal for a big HighSchool and still talks about how he used to love to go fishing and camping.
You can change a kids life just by taking them fishing.
Not only do you show it great, but you used a big hook and a big fishing line to make this easier for people like me. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!

The only fishing knot my dad taught me. At almost 45 years old now, its the only one I have ever needed!
Then why did you look it up?
@@Devin8272😅💀
Same here!
He forgot to go through the top loop
@Devin8272 maybe to compare other knots over period of time. Maybe to see if everybody else has same opinion. But I have a question for you. We're ur moma at? She not answering my calls
Pro move - water on the line to make sure you don't burn/bind it. Grew up with this knot, super easy to use when you need to tie multiple trout rigs. well done!
This was the first knot I learned as a kid many decades ago...not sure why such a simple and reliable knot got over 400 dislikes because it's reliable and easy. Thanks for sharing it 👍
I gave it a dislike because it will slip and you will loose lures. I tested this knot at home and it fails about 50% of the time. The fail rate increases with thinner line. The knot I use is exactly like this knot but with one more step. On the last step I then thread the end of the like through the Loop that you just made when you threaded the end through the loop/gap by the lure's eye. My knot has been trusty for 40+ years. The fact that the knot taught here can and WILL slip is why the downvotes are happening.
Probably because when some of us try it, its very easy to pull apart for some reason. I must be missing something here. I'll watch it a couple more times but then I'm back to the quadruple beginning of tie my shoe knot. Never let me down, I just wanted to look more professional lol.
@@sbyrumah ill try that now thanks. Glad I'm not the only one. I can pull this knot apart by hand lol.
@@sbyrumthe knot in the video is the clinch knot, by going through the other hole as you mentioned is the improved clinch knot.
The thinner the line the more twists you need to make knot stronger! This knot is not to be used with braided line. For braided line use Palomar knot!
I'm 60 and been using this Knot that was taught to me by my dads professional Bass fisherman back in the 70s when I was 10 years old. I never new what it was called, but never failed.
i was taught it was called a barrel knot but it seems
thats nor correct. its always worked for me
as well.
have to be careful with ultralight line when tightening the knot or it gets swirly
@@JM1540Xfirst you have to take thr tag end back through the loop you've made! Then I moisten the line, then I hold the tag end with my teeth as I pull the lure and the line gently until knot is snug.
I mainly use 6-8lb test mono and it never fails me. But, without sending the tag back through the loop, it will pull right out.
Also it's a good idea to have decent tension on the main line at all times. Can't let the knot bunch up like this guy does.
FYI, this knot is called the Clinch Knot. The Improved Clinch Knot involves looping back through the main loop one more time before tightening the lines.
I cannot express my gratitude enough. My son and I just watched this because we are going fishing tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed it!
This is by far the best one I’ve found. Thank you
Do you spin the hook 5 or 6 times?
Thanks for leaving a comment!
Thank you very much for this tutorial, I'm starting fishing on Friday and I have no experience or knowledge about fishing this helped me a lot
my favorite knot. it is so quick and easy. nice video.
I am a beginner and this knot is easy to tie and works great! Thanks
5 yrs later. Still working?
@@BeckVMH I used it for 7 years and I’ve never had a problem with it, there probably are better knots than this one but this one is pretty good
Thanks.
I'm 65 an handicapped my pop tought me this when I was a little yonker it's one I can do easy never needed help my pop tought me to be able to take care of myself with out help
@@BeckVMH i been using using the improved clinch knot its just like this but one more step. I've been using this since i started fishing
Thank you I just got back into fishing and never really knew how to tie "proper" knots
That knot is what we call a clinch knot. To even make it a better knot, do what we call an advance clinch knot. After you put your line through the hole where the eye of the hook is, continue to put your line through the large loop that you created after putting your line in the first hole. Wet it with your mouth so it slips better when you tighten the line.
SwordofManticorE Hi, Great point, this is the easiest but Improved Clinch knot is much better and that is #2 knot in my videos. Thanks for watching!
I call in the 'improved clinch knot', rather than advanced, but same thing. I've been using it for over 25 years and it's never let me down.
SwordofManticorE Also called the "improved clinch knot"
+SwordofManticorE
In the UK we call this a half blood knot, and if we put the line back through the large loop, that is called a tucked half blood knot. Both knots are very strong and reliable.
Some comments below say this knot is unreliable.
That means they haven't tied it properly...always do it carefully and remember to wet the knot before pulling it tight!
The reason for the improved clinch knot.Is the regular clinch knot will slip.I have fished both. The improved clinch knot is a great knot for most lure tie's.
I have used this knot since my best friend showed me it when I was about 13 years old.Been using it for going on 52 years and I can'trecall ever having it break.
I just broke one 🤔
Been using this knot for years... very secure and easy 👍🏼
my dad tried teaching me a hard knot, so i decided to try learning on my own, my dad really helped me get on my first fish, he rlly enjoys fishing w/me and my line snaps so often, and hes getting tired of tieing knots, thank you this rlly helps
This is the best and easiest knot to teach my 9 year old son. He succeeded first time👍Thank you!!!
I grew up without a father and have been wanting to go fishing for a while now. Never knew how to properly tie a fishing knot. The musics inspiring. Gonna make me cry.
I grew up using that exact fishing knot. It's called the clinch knot The improved version of the clinch know is one extra step and you just feed the line through the big loop above the hook and just pull the line light.....! Though the clinch knot works just fine the way it is....!
Great video....!
My dad showed me this one. Glad to see other people use it too.
helps me remember how to tie the knot properly - Brilliant!
bro thank you so much, me and my bestie (miss miss westie) just learned how to tie a knot. we slayed that shit thanks to this bombastic youtube video. u saved our lives.
Awesome video i now know what to do when I change my hooks on my pole
Thank you so much man, no one in fam rlly knows how to fish so I’m glad im able to start somewhere with my new passion. Hopefully the people there won’t be so mean if they see me struggle out there as a girl. Wish me good luck for at least one good catch.
Thank you it's been ages since I went fishing with my grandad and now taking my first born for the 1st time and could not for the life of me remember any knots he taught me 😂
I've always been pulling the end or tail of the line to lock it.....and i lost many fish as a result. Thanks a lot for the tutorial❤
Gracious sakes that is a big beautiful hook. Thank you for this video. I'm at the camp trying to restring the line for my husband and surprise him and you really helped me out! Thank you for this simple video.
Glad it was helpful!
That was helpful advice, thank you, i tied up my Crimson hook perfectly
i love the size of the hook

10 years ago this vid was made and it’s still teaching new beginners out that’s mad
Thank you so much I wanted to tie a hook but my parents were busy so I decided to do it on my own and I nailed thank you again
My dad showed me how to do this knot when I was a kid the best one to know how to do
This knot has never let me down, landed some giants using this knot, it's all about preference
Didn't know how to tie a fishing knot so I would have my dad do it for me but he was gone so I looked up this up video and it help me catch a big catfish

THANK you so much I'm use to lures for crappie and bluegill because I go to my dad's resivor and saw a bass and ive caught bass on worms before but I have never tied it ive had someone else's rod or someone else ties it for me thanks you your a life savior
The Palomar knot is the easiest to tie and very secure.
I can't do the palomar knot to save my life
Yup agree
Thank you I have been searching the internet for good knots that aren’t supper hard thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Today is my 3rd time fish and I did not know how to tie a knot I’m am very thankful for this video because if it wasn’t for this video I would not be able to fish today.
Tried and true. Been using this knot for decades
my dad taught me this knot 6 years ago when i was ten ive used it ever since
Thank you I am getting into fishing now and I could never understand how to tie other knots
Super cool video. I rewatch every year because I never remember this knot🤣 that means I need to fish way more and lock it in my brain
Best tutorial on TH-cam... Thank you 👍
You're welcome!
If this knot become untied then you either did it wrong! Or didn’t pull the knot hard enough! I grew up with this knot used 15ib main line to whatever, and leader 20-25ib to hook!
So it works??
thank you man tomorrow will be my first time fishing
That is perfect! Thank you for going slowly- great video
Great video my friend. Very straight to the point and easy. Two thumbs up.
Very easy secure knot, thank you, I shall be using this great tip soon 👍
Option - I like to run the line through the hook eye twice before twisting it. Seems to be a much stronger setup.
Thankyou awesome video and easy to follow along with keep it up bud!
Thanks, will do!
Thank you so much for posting an easy knot I could not find one my dad is always out of town and no one knew how to tie knots but I finally found out how because of this video
This is the easiest explanation I have ever seen.
Thanks! Im really bad on doing knots and this one whas easy!
this knot is called the half blootknot for the ones that are curious
This was the best video it was easy to watch and it is the best knot ever
Ty my main man you back on the Xmas list
Thank you verry much, i made my first ever knot because of this video.❤
I'm going fishing in the morning thanks for the heads up ❤
Perfect, that’s exactly what I needed! Thank you!
my father taught me this when I was a kid, always called it a barrel knot
Man you help me a lot I was looking for videos and people were going to fast you help me a lot thanks😀😀
I have been fishing over a decade and I used this knot. I agree this is the #1 easiest knot. for hook and swivel. didn't find the easiest knot for crankbait yet if you can please show me.
thank you
If you do more than 5 it will tighten it better so it doesn’t unhook more easily (prefer doing 8-15)
Going fishing for the first time at 21 years old thank you
I was just lookin for new knots for different types thanks I’ll give it a try🙂
Ill be using this one thanks mate 😃 hope catch my first fish
Did you get that first fish Mick?
@@BeckVMH yes i certainly did lol. Plenty of fish now east coast Australia thanks for the tip 👍
I've never used another knot, maybe I should learn some others but this has served me well.
using the hook to spin/rotate/twist the line seems like an easier way to do this as shown in this video. Other videos i've seen showed the user's right hand/fingers going up & over with the tag end 5-7 times before cinching which seems a tad bit more difficult than this method.
This and the dropper loop/t-knot are my go to knots for any type of fishing
This is the first fish knot my brother thought me at age 7 until today I always never lose a fish from my catch.
Idk how this ended up in my suggested videos. I know how to tie a fishing knot.. 🤥
But seriously this fella has got hand model potential for real!
😅
Thank you I go fishing and I’m only 12 and my cousin or grandpa always tie em on for me so thanks
I didn't know that tying a knot could be so easy
Thank you so much I can finally go fish now!!
Have fun!
The clinch knot will slip with lighter line like under 10 pounds especially with fluorocarbon use the improved clinch or something different for light line.
God bless you I plan to fish on my 1995 seadoo GTX!
Duuude this is so perfect. Thank you.
What! It’s that easy?! Thank you.
This one is the best !!!!!!
I’m fishing with my family tomorrow and this helped
That's called the Clinch knot, I like the improved clinch knot makes it more secure for those bigger fish.
Jesse James Hi Jesse, I agree this Clinch knot is just basic and the easiest for beginners. #2 is Improved Clinch knot. Thanks for watching!
Jesse James Hi Jesse, I agree this Clinch knot is just basic and the easiest for beginners. #2 is Improved Clinch knot. Thanks for watching!
DO NOT TIE THIS KNOT WITH BRAIDED LINE! This is a monofilament/fluorocarbon knot only...you’re welcome!
It doesn’t get easier than this, thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you this helped so much
Soooooo helpful tied my first hook on my own with this👌👍
Akhtich Tsoutsi would be delighted 😁 in this technique
Thanks mate, great video
Thank you so much I have been trying to do it for hours this is the easiest to learn and use
I use chapstick to moisten line/knot. Knot tightens always easily. BUT I prefer Palomar knot. Never slips.
I lost 3 frog lures because i didn’t know how to tie a strong knot thank u 🙏
You helped me tie Knot
These hooks are just great. I’ve caught many striper/rockfish with these hooks (10/0). Super sharp, very strong, and they take a lot of abuse and won’t rust. Overall they are my favorite hook for striped bass.
I know I am kinda late, but I just found this video and it helped me a lot! I caught a lot more fish with this knot, almost never breaks (never broke for me). Thank you.
thank you for showing us how
been using this knot for 25 years ,but i usually go back through the top with the tag .that knot is hard to beat
ashley gunter Hi Ashley, This is Clinch knot, the knot that you talking about is improved clinch knot and you can find video #2 that's your knot. Thanks watching and comment as well.
Oh my God thank you so much this is so much easier
You're welcome!
