A little trivia: When the Citaros were introduced in 1997, TIBS expressed interest of having these buses in their fleet during its fleet expansion programme in the late 90s. Should this be fulfilled, the first generation Citaros could have been the very first low-entry production-batch buses in Singapore.
Alas, during that time TIBS was in the process of getting subsumed by SMRT, so this never materialised. Subsequently, after TIBS's subsumption in 2004, it was rebranded as the SMRT buses we know of today.

These are the best transmissions ever made. They sound so good. I have never heard anything sound as good as an old ZF. Even trains don't sound as good.

I would have to agree there, in fact the zf ecomat was what got me interested in buses :)

Music to my ears! Brings back the nostalgia of the o405 days! The howls, whines and roars..
Closest to an Ecomat Citaro today would be the OC500LE which I cherish every time I commute to and fro work...
    Definitely more than 10x better!
Love the work you do! :D

Thank you!! I love the OC500s too, it's a shame that they are being retired soon

I wished the Citaros in Dubai were preserved, they were replaced too soon by the Vovlo B8Rs in early 2022 , too bad bus enthusiast communities in Dubai are way too miniscule
The bus in the video sounds a bit like Dubai's VDL Citeas, really like this video

Thanks for watching! Yeah it would be nice if they had kept some for heritage purposes

I wished the citaros in sg also sounded like this. I wonder why the smrt zf taros 😊sounded nothing like this

I don't think its preserved? Its used for RRS in Wales! :)

It did a replacement to Cardiff immediately after this video was taken actually, I listed it as preserved as it was stated so on several Flickr posts, and some preserved buses like DLA273 regularly do rail replacement works. I'm not 100% sure on this citaro.

    Design changes over the years
    1. Citaro design like in the video
    2. Design like sg one
    3. Design like 4004b
    4. E citaro design

Why does the engine sound as if it came from a KUB when it’s a Citaro? And where’s the exit doors? Nice vid

In the UK most cities don't have rear doors. It's mainly London with dual doors

They use the same gearbox which is ZF ecomat and apparently the first citaro in sg (SMB136C) is also using it
