Honestly, I started crying for some reason the second the animation started in the video. It touched me in so many ways. Just to think that the person i look up to, my older brother would be gone... I could not even handle the thought. On 3:15 I had to stop the video, start writing this comment and think. In my life right now, i dont really know what i want or where i want to be later on. Finished school with 18, traveled New Zealand for a whole year, had the freacking time of my life and now i dont know what to do, what to study and where to go with my future. All I want is to continue the kiwi life i had. Frick man, I struggle with motivation quite a lot tbh. I am not gonna say your video fixed my life but it showed me once again that a lot of effort can lead to something beautiful and heart warming, that is worth the struggle. I'm not gonna end here were i started damn it. I'll do something so fullfilling and amazing that I will handshake you in a couple of years and thank you for the work you put in this video and what it meant to me. I'm not even done with it and i dont want it to be finished. This is a wake up call for me. That life offers so much. You just have to put the effort in and take it. Just had to be said man. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
I definitely feel that. It's like my soul is getting shaken up, telling me man, you've got to do something. You've just got to get out there. This has been the most incredible week. I watched this for the first time last week and since then I can't stop. I'm pushing so hard my feet hurt and it feels good... I'm losing weight which is a great thing for me. I have taken so many new photos but more importantly I'm planning some big shots over the weekend. Big motivation... HUGE

I never really traveled until this year. I thought myself how to fly a drone. Got myself a set of camera gear and started traveling. So far I've done, Istanbul, Dublin, Rome and next week, I head to Iceland. Thank you for this video Sam, really means alot.
@@SoumendraMalikVlogs Its a alot of things. 1- I have a full time job and I dont spend a great deal of my income. About 50% of my income is in savings every month. 2- I choose the cheapest option I can when traveling and staying in the country I am in. This includes staying on the couchs of friends I have across the world. 3- I live like the locals and avoid tourist spots. Those are expensive. Those are just some of the ways I use to help fund my lifestyle. Oh! I also freelance while in the country I am in. Usually I try to charge a week's worth of meals. Thinking in "meals" and "transport" instead of absolute income has really pushed how far I can travel and for how long.
@@mollysingh720 I honestly think just saving as much as you can is the best idea when not traveling. While at home I don't order takeaways very often and I don't spend so much on things I don't need. If you want to start traveling, start small. I started traveling by driving 2 or 3 hours from my home town to stay over for a weekend. That got me to learn how to pack correctly and how to limit expenses while away from home. Seriously, while in Rome I stayed in Air BnBs - cooked there, and avoided a massive cost which was eating out. My best advice is to live like a student even when you earn a decent wage. And, I'm a Film Editor and videographer. I work full time and freelance on the side I hope this helped!

I felt this.
HUGE
"This is a Reminder to Myself, that life can end at any moment and to never let it slips thru my fingers". Reminder was like a trailer for this, it was worth waiting. You are truly legend, legend man
I lost my father 9 years ago, I always find myself revisiting this video as a form of hope. I'd like to one day be able to pay as beautiful tribute as you did for your brother.
My heart was beating so fast watching this whole video. Next level.
This guy makes my life look so shit I can't even imagine.
:( really? i dont even want to know what happend to you
He should inspire you to make something out of your life :) thats the secret, you can do anything you set your mind to
Buildpucipuci02 bro he lost his brother and your comment shows how powerful the message in this video is. The whole message is no matter how dark your life may be at the moment you can do amazing stuff like he is if you really desire it.
Think you missed the point here buddy
his life was once like yours and he has ups and downs, this video shouldn't put you down tho it should open your eye to life and the world and make you see the world differently, it should make you want to do something and be something amazing, don't live by the worlds expectations live by your own.
It's over. My Year 2016 is finally not the best video on youtube anymore.
lpz damn I agree!!!
It still is, at least for me anyway
Agreed!!!!
"My Year 2016" will be a legendary video for us.

Watched this video today morning and kept going back to rewatch it again. 10th time watching… Gave me chills and goosebumps. The feeding of giraffes looks like the ones at the giraffe’s center in Nairobi,Kenya .
This should be on TH-cam Awards 2019.

Powerful bro! Vulnerable and Breathtakingly beautiful ❤️✌🏼
Sam you did it. this is a true filmmaking experience, and you've been able to bring out the emotions of us viewers, I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm insanely proud of what you've accomplished once you realized that it was an opportunity to show Tim that he was right all along.
Hats off for you, Sam.
I still come back to this video every now and then. It's still one of the videos that started my filmmaking journey and one that I aspire to make one day
This was art. Inspiring, emotional, thoughtful. Tim would be so proud of you.

*This is something most emotional I have seen in my whole life! Huge respect for you Mr. Kolder!*
I have incredible feeling as was a little crumb of his life. I can explain in easy way what I feel after watching this story. Sam! Carry on!
This is truly a beautiful piece of art. You soul can be seen. Keep it up.
he's at the top!
Sam, this impacted me, like it actually did. Thank you. The emotions that a video can make someone feel are amazing, this is the only video ive ever felt this way. Thank you. You seriously changed me.
I learnt one thing from Sam that is "Quality over quantity"
He uploads video once after 2/3 months , and here it is the result, Hats off.
Never Stop Creating Dear Filmmakers
He's the greatest inspiration
WOW, what an uplifting way to start the New Year!
One of the most impactful films I’ve seen in a long time. Amazing video Sam
This video will mark the history of TH-cam, Thank you for creating this Masterpiece.
I never really traveled until this year.
I thought myself how to fly a drone. Got myself a set of camera gear and started traveling.
So far I've done, Istanbul, Dublin, Rome and next week, I head to Iceland.
Thank you for this video Sam, really means alot.
How do you get so much money to travel all across the globe?
This is awesome man! Just continue to enjoy the life.
Hey also I want to travel...and I'm very happy for you man! Can you give me some tips ..and what is your profession?
I work full time and freelance on the side
I hope this helped!
I don’t think I’ve ever been so emotionally moved to the point that I had to cry it out watching a cinematic film. Sam, Tim must be proud about who you’ve become today. It sure must have been hard to lose your best friend, your mentor, and your most important brother. Don’t ever let that get to you. Make sure that Tim is constantly proud and by your side.
