@@berrybadplayer I've been trying to find a durable power hammer ele build and it's been ROUGH lol. So many deaths.
@@FolliAF I have seen some barrier weaver stuff that could be interesting, they were cele but it could probably work with power. And honestly, power hammer catalyst is alright, but there is no point in playing it because while it’s high damage and decently tanky, cele catalyst does more damage and is tankier. There is almost no point in playing power for most roaming builds at this point, just play cele.
Ive only been playing a little over a year now and solo roaming/dueling has made me 100x more confident as a player than anything I have done in a large group…try it people it’s life changing
I've been solo roaming a lot recently and it's making me a much better player. I'm learning to counter classes that would normally give me a problem, like Willbenders and cele harbs. I can now beat them 1v1 as long as I don't screw up (learning when to kite both of these classes has been the key). I've even been taking on 1vs many and winning some fights as my positioning and target priority is getting better. The only classes I really struggle with now are thieves and cele catalysts, they are really, really hard to kill IF the player knows what they are doing.

I just started playing Guild Wars 2 after tenish years of 1vx 2vx PvP in ESO. I can’t tell you how happy I am that a similar playstyle is possible in GWs 2. Your observation about Zerg players with high ranks not knowing basic mechanics is the exact same in Elder Scrolls online. There are 5 star players in ESO that can’t perform the most basic mechanics because they have never stepped outside of a Zerg and haven’t had to learn them.
Unfortunately believe that’s just how some of these game modes play out but I’m glad it’s not just a gw2 issue
The whole casting behind you thing is honestly one of the reasons I don't really play GW2 anymore. As someone that loves playing with Action Cam, you can't cast behind you properly without turning off Action Cam / about face to do that and it's super clunky. Always found that using that feature put me at a huge disadvantage because of that. It works fine with some builds, but with many you're just gimping yourself.
Tbh Im in the same boat as you, but Im still playing quite often because the build I really enjoy playing doesnt really need aboutface and works very well with action cam. That being said, there are a few builds that I would really love playing or trying out, but because I know you need to aboutface to perform well on them I dont bother.
I dont mind getting out of action cam for blinks or tap targeting, but I find about face very annoying and unfun to use. Even the most action combat MMO, bdo, uses mouse movement on certain classes, but I would still prefer it if about face didnt exist or the action cam would make your character turn around and run back instead of backpaddleing while in combat. Its strange because, outside of combat, the action cam does indeed make your character turn around when using the S key. So the solution would be to improve the action camera, but idk if Anet will do that.
WvW is the apex of PvP in gaming. Anet dropped the ball HARD. Alas.. one can only imagine another pirates the game mechanics and makes a half decent game based on this mode, killing it.
You forgot to mention roaming teaches you how the map works, for exp. where you can blink up, where you can jump down etc. The flip side is when you try to zerg afterwards but have a comander who doesnt roam.
For me gets a little bit harder to roam with Mesmer because you have to do a lot of combos. while for example a tempest or other classes have a nice burst even they get a lot of buff and even Mesmer it’s a little bit harder
Play mirage. Sword/Torch & Dagger/pistol. Very easy and focused on dazes. Mesmer is quite easy compared to actual combo classes, you gotta get good with mindgames though
So many zerglings i know would have so much fun roaming but despite my best efforts and explanations they still think roaming is just capping towers
great video, but problem is all these cringe cele builds people run now. Really hard to 1v1 inless your just really good will push way lot new roamers. I know if I was new I would not roam after seeing the level of cringe, even with meta build.
I just had a guy message me yesterday requesting more fights after I beat his cele soulbeast, trying to learn how to better 1v1 and roam. He just kept bringing cele build after cele build. Roaming/fighting on celestial doesn't teach you much and I genuinely think it's counterintuitive to learning game mechanics and matchups. Real shame that they're imploding such a unique combat system and open world PvP mode with a stat that essentially breaks a lot of PvP interactions
for non-skilled, non exp players, cringe are the builds that one shot or almost one shot them. Its a matter of perspective. On one hand its true that you dont learn if you dont get punished for your mistakes, on the other hand, if you die instantly there is not much to learn either. You need to come back and die and respawn 10 times to experience what with a cele you might experience in 1 or 2 fights.
Cele doesn't teach you anything
You got one shot 1 or 2 times, you know what to look out for as you do not want to go back to spawn
Cele you just don't die, thus don't learn
i'd argue that cele allows you to learn to read people better, much pressure doesn't always equal faster learning
i play both cele and zerk, and cele deffo taught me to read some moves better than with zerk, because you can actually semi afk and learn people's movements.
sadly cele is here to stay, because like someone above stated, getting into the game and being oneshot is not a fun and interactive experience, its flat out morale breaking, and has imo a way higher chance of making people quit wvw than cele does.@@_Bya__
they should honestly give wvw the spvp treatment, no cele fixed stats, free runes etc just pick and choose from the build section, it might not be the best of solutions but it sure as hell beats the power creep that is wvw atm.
*TLDR:* i think cele is needed in for newer players in the current power creep meta, give us the spvp treatment and make stats trinkets etc (remove armor) be picked for free in the build menu, ergo removing cele for good, and leaving people on the same playing field.
It’s kind of unfortunate but tbh I’d expect a boon spam change/nerf before a cele nerf at this point
Commenting mostly for the algo god and to add something. If participation would count lets say for expample also when you are in fight mode (somehow) and even if you die, then personally I would roam and probably on non tanky builds. At the moment, as I m trying to complete/get my armor I avoid roaming and I try to avoid 1vs1 and small fights. I feel I am super stupid when I fight over a zero level camp with anyone for 1-2-3 or more minutes and I just choose to disengage or die. Another thing is my mental health. I want to have fun. And truth is no matter how many times I die or kill someone in med-big group fights I have -almost- noone taking it personally and then whispering me, coming after me with 5 more persons to take revenge, to abuse me, to stalk me and bm me and all that on the cost again of my participation and fun. That said, I like to watch good fights and I like your videos no matter if I do it or not.
I’ve been trying wvw recently with 2 others. I’m new to pvp and still trying to figure out how to not die when someone blinks to me and bursts me into a down state 😭😂

Literally play PvP. Roaming is a getting murdered by outnumbered zergs, perma stealth thieves and cele builds that refuse to die.
PvP is more about map rotation and what team plays together better. Besides the only thing worse than the wvw population is the PvP population it’s hard to find games that aren’t complete washes anymore unfortunately

So what you are saying is, you have no opponents because the game is overly complex, takes a deep knowledge of every class and spec and gear, 3 quickly tabbable templates/builds and gear adjustments to counter the meta build. So roam and after you play for about 2-3k hours you can have fun?
Man it’s an mmo it takes time not 2-3k hours. I have plenty of ppl to fight I enjoy seeing ppl get into the play style and go from new to the game or wvw to being able to 1vX consistently in a few months bc they took the time to actually understand what builds do, what skills do, and didn’t just throw skills at ppl until someone went down. Game is not that complicated each class has like 5 important skills u need to learn, the rest of the mechanics are game wide. Also I never said u need to counter swap builds that is terrible, you just don’t need to get stuck playing one build bc it’s so good it hides all the bad habits u have then when it gets nerfed and you have to change it up it reveals all the things you’ve been doing wrong.

I solo run a circle around map taking camps or sometimes I'll use a cata to take down a tower wall & msg the map. I play in the middle of the night so solo roaming is ez.

I'm new to the roaming scene and don't really know which class to start with. I've heard some classes are probably better than others (can blink 1600 range, etc) but I'm wondering what a good class would be to start off with and gain the basics - essentially a class thats more forgiving to mistakes to begin with.
willbender ,vindicator, harbinger, mechanist are the most common because most of these specs/builds have high boon uptime,decent dmg, mobility, ect but these kinds of builds normally create bad habits that hurt u in the long run. i say just find something that looks interesting to you
