- DIG IT UP is the companion video to RIBBITS. It's the swiss army knife of exercises, but it has three notes in each gesture instead of two. It has endless practical applications in solo and orchestral music. How fast can you relax your right arm after each gesture?

Very useful videos. Thank you
Thank you, Gabo!
Grieg, Holberg Suite, first movement. All the G's and up.
Exactly! That was one of my model pieces that I cut out of the episode, but you're exactly right.
@@incrediblyusefulexercises Would be nice if you would "dig it up" on the E-string. I can (almost) play it in temp on the other strings (crossings are difficult) but the E-string gives very soon tension. The angle is a bit different. Stroke has to be shorter (more rolling), or somethings like that. (we have it on our program in 4 weeks). :-)
This has quickly become one of my favorite channels. I have a hard time interpreting notes on paper into music so to hear how the examples are to be played is fantastic. Books are ordered.
Thanks for that, John! I'm so glad you're enjoying them. Yes, I know exactly what you mean - I had the same problem in college and after. That's one of the main reasons I decided to go ahead with the channel - so people could know what I was asking. Hope you are well, and let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks again Dennis for another great video. They're invaluable to me as I practice through the books. Thank you.
Thanks, Jonathan - so good to hear! Thanks for the support. Hope you're well
First!! great work Dennis!
Thanks! Hope you're well!
Thanks so much for uploading this Mr. Whittaker, I purchased the first volume in the series and was struggling with the ribbits and dig it up exercises so these last two uploads were very helpful!
Oh, I'm so glad to hear, Amitabh! Thanks for letting me know - I'm glad they're helpful.
i swear, you could teach a rock how to play bass. You are so fundamentally sound!!
Challenge Accepted! Thanks, KJ! LOL
How would this work for German bow? I have a French on the way but I prefer German for orchestra playing.
Thanks for the reply, Shrish. It works the same, but with the wrist rotated 180 degrees, with the thumb up instead of down. You have to find the amount of wrist "flex" it takes, since it's different for each person and equipment. I hope that make sense. Let me know. Happy new year to you and yours, and I hope you're well! Dennis
