    A successful TH-camr seamlessly entered the world of test cricket, setting a notable example. I hope he can reach beyond 650 wickets, but it'll be tough since he's already 37. Maybe he'll take a page from Anderson's book and keep playing into his 70s.

    In the Southampton test in which he was was outbowled by Moeen Ali, Ashwin was playing with an abductor tear. In an interview with Cricbuzz Ashwin revealed that he entered the match with 70% fitness and was fighting tears while bowling and wore sunglasses on the field to hide them. Harsha said that when Swann saw Ashwin his first couple of overs, he said immediately said on comms "Why is he playing? He's not fit." (Source: 21:30 of "Cricbuzz In Conversation ft. R Ashwin: The Unconventional Leader" on TH-cam)
    It's a real shame that his performance in the Southampton test is so harshly held against him because in that 1st test of that series in Edgabaston, Ashwin was India's leading wicket taker with match figures of 7-121 in a narrow 31 run loss with twin dismissals of Alastair Cook off beautiful deliveries and even though he only picked one more wicket in the next couple of tests, his figures for the series were 8-236 @ an average of 29.5 before the Southampton Test.

    • @krishnasangam865
      @krishnasangam865 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It is selfish for a frontline spinner to bowl at 70% fitness. Remember bowling takes a toll on your body compared to your batting. I still remember Virat bowed out of the second test in South Africa in 2021-22 with a stiff back/back spasms when we had the chance to win the series in SA for the first time in history. A great bowler though who has taken a long time to become the cricketer he is today. His batting and sometimes bowling is not upto the mark in limited overs. In tests, he only plays(bats) decent in Asian conditions and WI. In SENA, he is okay. This is not the max batting potential he was touted to have. In addition, his fielding is atrocious for an international cricketer. In my opinion, he has been overrated a tiny bit. Nathan Lyon on the other hand may not possess the skills of Ash, but I would rather have him in my squad compared to Ash, just by a tiny margin though.

    • @akshaypadmanabhan8582
      @akshaypadmanabhan8582 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      It’s not selfish, that’s the chance a tamilnadu player gets. I mean look at his career, he was not played when he was fit and fine and when he could have definitely won matches. Is that also not selfish of others? Some players are backed to the hilt, which explains why international spinners are now praised by Indians and otherwise, problem lies elsewhere.

Bowlers who bowl straighter lines get a lot of wickets now after the introduction of DRS. In the old days, batters could easily run down the track and get their pad in the way. Batters had to change their technique due to DRS. Just look at the adjustments Kevin Pietersen had to make. To be honest, I think Ashwin is in the same league as Kumble. If batters can have lopsided stats for home & away & yet be considered greats, if batters who piled on runs during a time when pitches were flat across the world can be called legends & GOATs, if bowlers, considered 'all time greats' are not actually great outside of favourable conditions despite being part of away teams, I guess R Ashwin (who's mostly been overlooked in away matches due to a better overall package) earns his due to be among the pantheon of the best bowlers ever, purely on account of how much he has contributed to the strategy & tactics of spin bowling.

    Amazing analysis. If at all something is missing its the strenght of the Indian middle order when Kumble and Harbhajan played. They were bowling on the back of tons of runs on top of it the fast bowlers in Sena were not as lethal as in the last decade. Lesser chance/role for a spinner in SENA for a historically fast bowler starved test team like India. Kohli wanted to fully leverage his new found gadgets at the cost of some balance. During the sametime no one talks about Indias weak middle order. Count the number if times india scored over 300 or 350 to the middle order of india between 2000 and 2014. Many indian wins are on the back of bowling or lower order saving games for us.

    Ashwin is an amazing cricketer. Starting out as a batter, he was even preferred as the opener over the very talented Rohit Sharma during the Under-15 days, I reckon. I think not many know this story.
    And then comes the transition to spin bowling. While he has achieved several GOATed feats, I feel he still did not reach his maximum potential and all because of his body.
    He is gifted with great cricketing abilities but he wasn't gifted with a very athletic body. Time and time again his injuries hindered him from him reaching his maximum potential.
    Test series in England & Aus (2018) where he had gotten much better, he still played with injuries and couldn't improve his stats in those countries. I still, feel sad with the fact that there were so many "what-ifs" in his career.
    But nevertheless, I have my utmost respect for Ashwin. For someone who wasn't gifted in a way, he absolutely rocked with whatever he did.

    In 2022, opposition, Jupiter was 367 million miles (591 million km) from Earth, or 95 million miles closer to Earth . But is closest to sun
    Key signs Tiger Rabbit vs Monkey Rooster
    Shortest distance vs longest distance
    High energy vs Low energy
    Tiger Rabbit are high energy
    Monkey, Rooster are low energy
    So monkey and rooster can out with tiger and rabbit
    But same Tiger and Rabbit can outwit monkey and rooster
    Opposite of Kryptonite can be kryptonite. Its like looking at mirror.
    It depends on other people around them. They can lift the energy of rooster ..rooster can destroy tiger.

    One day Ashwin will 6 balls in an over with different bowling action, run ups, action, side (over or around), etc

    Kumble and Harbhajan played in an era with better spin ball players, thats also a factor. One might argue cricket favors batsmen more these days than they used to in the 90s but then again because of the game being more batting friendly, the difficult wickets produce very astonishing results. Ashwin is probably still ahead of both of them, but they are very very close.
