I have an rs3 saloon. That rs3 has the same engine . The ttrs pre opf 2017 to 2018 has always been quicker than the rs3 2017 to 2018 as its lighter. The rs3 weight disadvantage is because the rs3 has 2 extra doors, rear seats, proper boot and is slightly bigger,. The Ttrs is also lower and more aerodynamic. Also that rs3 has a pano roof which like mine adds another 30kg. All this helps make a difference. On this 2019 ttrs the opf filter due to the wltp regulation has hampered the launch control and made the car slower and sound crap.
TTRS for me however I’d take a 18 plate without the GPF(gasoline particle filter) due to better sound and less restrictions in the exhaust (could always remove it)
Robyananspersie 328 it also has had an impact performance wise, was tested against other cars which before the GPF would beat ( drag race) but they now loose.

Haider Sohail The RS3 os only more practical if you have kids. You’d be surprised how much room it is in the TTRS. I’ve had both an A3 and TT’s... and both is a superb daily. PS. I also have two dogs (6-8kg) and both dog cages can fit in the trunk with luggage ++.

Hugo Sequeira I don’t know where you are from but in the UK, a standard GTR Premium Edition lists for £72,595. A standard TTRS goes for about £63,000. And when you Spec it the way you want it, it will be the same price as a GTR

not really , would get the Cayman 718 s for similar money, despite the shoebox rs being faster. and im coming from the 981 base Cayman ( admittedly a much slower car but fun to drive)

Yeh I think most people dont realise that the TTRS is an Particle friendly 2019 model, and the car launches like a dog in comparison to a 17/18 model...

I would like to differ. I don't think the weight matter much on a straight line coz if u put M5 or rs7 with this light TTRS the M5 or rs7 will still win despite the weight. So I think it depends with only horsepower , torque and obvious 0-60. Some heavy fast cars will distroy a light car on a straight line.
I do wonder why the TTRS had poor launches, could simply be reaction time coming off the brake late. TTRS is lighter and has less drag over RS3 so the rolling start was predictable.

Tt rs is almost 300 lbs lighter then the Rs3....that’s what makes the difference all day and every day. Even if both are tuned with exact mods The ttrs will take it every time.
If you check carwow video of the ttrs and the Toyota, the ttrs gets destroyed and apparently the reason is because of the new euro regulations.I think that ttrs is severely restricted.Is this true, or is the ttrs getting slower?
Looking at the footage your launch in the TTRS was late rs3 was a good launch but if u launched the TTRS as good ud see the results that race was clearly down to driver eye skill off the line
Are these two different MY? To my suspicion, the MY18 RS3 had a better engine than the post WLTP MY19 RS3/TTRS engine. They also sounded a bit different as well.
Hand on your heart would any guys here actually go into an Audi dealership and buy a TT and come out still feeling a man? As amazing as the performance is especially with a tune... it still screams 💇♀️ to me.
I love the TTRS but when I took for one for a test I just couldn't see myself driving it for what ever reason... perhaps that's just my personal taste then.... amazing car though no doubt
What a dumb remark. I came out of the dealership with a ttrs feeling really happy and more manly than i could ever feel with a wannabe ttrs in a cheap hatchback or mini sedan form
Of course it's a personal choice, but feeling less of a man for buying a ttrs? Come on now show some respect for a sweet performing car please.. its from june 2018, so still the slightly faster and better sounding version. No mods or tuning, at least until warranty has expired in 2021

The TT RS doesn't have more power than the RS3, but it's 100 kg (220 pounds) or so lighter. That's why it's faster.

TTRS is a baby R8 not a hatchback, two completely different cars.
Tt rs is almost 300 lbs lighter then the Rs3....that’s what makes the difference all day and every day. Even if both are tuned with exact mods The ttrs will take it every time.

Audi have made the ttrs slower when using launch control. It's light with the same power so it should be faster. I read it somwhere and it's true
