@@BigMek456 : Felix Schmidt wouldn't be able to join the Luftwaffe - he'd be sent to a military prison. Later he would be put in a penal unit and sent to perform hard labour, like building coastal defences.
Very nice. I just did this mission but had some really bad hicups with 3 of my torps with magnetic pistols exploding before hitting the target. I had to sit on the bottom to reload and the destroyer passed over and went to the royal oak, so I was able to come back up and fire off more torps to finish off both ships. Big tip for anyone playing on realistic difficulty, the t2's are free for a reason.
Your escape from Scapa was interesting. For mine I was pursued by a PT boat, and there were a few destroyers patrolling around outside. I had to redirect north to "officially" escape lol
For me there was one destroyer across the way that shot off flares but i managed to just leave like in the video with no restriction i wonder what determines how hard it is
@storm___ Interestingly, on my first transit through the channel I ALSO had an event where I court martialed a guy, and I think it was even the same crew member. There seems to be some amount of predetermined "events" but the details are randomized
Yes, you certainly added insult to injury. A frustrated Churchill will not forget once it becomes known that U-137 was responsible for the torpedo strike and relatively easy escape from Scapa Flow. Great story telling!
I have noticed when you come to the surface right next to a freighter you can contact the crew immediately, even before any of your own crew have exited your sub. So far in 4/4 cases the freighter evacuates and then you can also immediately send an engineer to scutle the freighter. All of that before the freighter even gets alerted.
Interesting Scapa Flow escape. I tried to escape through the southern route in a Type VII once and ran into a minefield that so damaged the boat that I had to go back to a previous save to escape to the east! One item that is helpful are the CO2 Scrub pads. These help with improving the O2 supply when submerged, but these is an increase in noise. They are good to use when using the Depth Charge explosions to hide the detection as you run at full speed for a few minutes. You have to balance the risk vs the reward.
While Felix might have a point about that freighter at the coast, im baffled why he doesn't overlook that considering that Kaleun Wolfpack has sunk two capital ships within scapa.
Let's see you sunk one of only two Brit 16" equipped battleships, as well as an aircraft carrier, in the most guarded Anchorage of the Royal Navy. Then you traversed the Channel, stopping to board and scuttle an enemy freighter, and you didn't even get a tuba player to welcome the conquering heroes. Pretty cheesy reception for one of the greatest missions completed in Kriegsmarine history.
That IS (or was) in fact the Royal Oak - you're supposed to take this mission early in the war, basically you're the one doing it instead of Prien. The game just doesn't account for the fact that you take the mission later, basically Prien never does his thing in it. Some missions can expire (e.g. the Norwegian Campaign) but this one does not for whatever reason.
"Can go over to the recruitment area" Soldiers come running over and salute "Ah you guys don't have anyone good" Soldier sniffs while tears start forming in his eyes
I am convinced that the US Navy uses your footage as educational doctrine for ASW and effective hunter killer tactics. Keep it up Wolf, motivating action as per usual!
This would probably be about the best time to sail through the chanel. The invasion threat from summer 1940 is past, so the royal navy would probably a lot less keen on sending destroyers out to patrol the channel and potentially get sunk by Luftwaffe bombers when they were increasingly needing them in the north atlantic.
Sinking ships outside of a patrol mission does contribute to tonnage. I completed the tonnage objectives while doing the mine laying missions. I rarely take patrol missions unless thats the only option i have
I just did the Enigma recovery mission. The hardest part is torpedoing the destroyer and corvette guarding the wreck. Just torp them from a distance (they're stationary), and make sure your torps are reliable. You'll also need to have a diving suit with your equipment.
Awesome vid! I will say Scapa Flow seems surprisingly underwhelming. I seem to recall it was quite the experience to infiltrate in SHIII, with a plethora of targets and lots of defenses to dodge. It's been a long time so maybe I'm wrong...
felix was upset you needlessly put the boat and the sailors in danger to sink the freighter after prepping the torpedos and you court martial him how sad

Amazing run! Fun fact: While I was evading a depth charge attack in that area near the British coast, the destroyer exploded and sank when it dropped the charges. It was amazing and very lucky as they almost got me before I turned.
I just completed this mission the other day, I ended up having to take southern route to escape the sub net and ships looking for me(thank goodness for game saves) ... It took three torpedo's to sink the Battleship, and only one for the carrier.
Wilhelmshafen is one of Germany's largest seaports behind only Kiel and Hamburg. Then as today.Only difference then it was a Kriegsmarine port. Now oddly enough they build cruise ships and container ships.
Hey Wolfpack! It has been a little while since I played, but I do think anytime you sink merchant ships it goes to any of the Tonnage missions. 100% sure. I should have waited 5 minutes before posting a comment :)
Look at through his eyes..You take a suicide mission to scapa flow after the first attack then you go through the English Channel.. suicidal captain..lol
He basically need to be fast with the campaign objectives. The beginning of the game is quite intense and you can't afford slacking on basic patrols to either get all the unique skills or finishing campaigns giving BPs. After that it's less of an issue.
The cheek of the man, you infiltrate scapa flow, sink some target's and then escape successfully and i think undetected and yet he disagrees with some of the captain's decision's, should of shot him and through him overboard, difficult decision i know but units commanders did not have the luxury of diplomatic relations with lower ranked member's of the crew, Also i would like to ask being as there are not many sh3 & u-boat playthroughs could you possibly extend them to 30 or 40 minutes ? pretty please, but if not due to time and other commitments then no worries as i am appreciative of what you do release,
Not sure why you only had 1 Destroyer in Scapa, the minimum i ever had was 5, usually more. Also all the battleships in this game are of the Nelson class, so basicly you did sink the Royal Oak.
Sounds like Felix was criticizing sinking British capital ships. Sounds like Felix was criticizing higher command for the orders you were following. Sounds like Felix is going up against the wall.

Hi Wolfpack, I was wondering if you are able to perform missions from the “Southern routes” campaign. Whenever I try one it does not count for the campaign progression…
After severa tries I found out the number in the progression is the number of ships you inspect, not the “chapter” of the “Southern Routes” campaign. At first you start at 0/3 meaning that in the first mission you accept you’ll have to inspect at least 3 ships. If you complete this task, you’ll move to chapter 2 and you’ll be required to inspect a total of 8 ships

You can. Not many upgrades for the Type II and VIIB but once he finally gets blueprints to the VIIC and VIIC/41, it will all come along with the snorkel, three tiers of batteries, several radar warning receivers types, hydrophones, coning towers and most importantly...
