With this album, City Girl demonstrates that their best is yet to come. Don't let me be misunderstood; this new release has done what Chroma Velocity previously achieved, showing that City Girl is constantly raising the bar on their work. Seemingly, City Girl is only be able deliver songs that I will be stuck listening to on repeat. Unsurprisingly, this album is my new favorite. City Girl's excellent composition lifts me in it's tender melodies, and floats me along like a leaf, lapping on the ocean waves breaking smoothly on the shores of a beach. As I'm typing this, I have shivers thinking about the next release in this artist's career. I can only describe it as the weird feeling of knowing there is another favourite song I have yet to hear. I know then, that City Girl's "BEST" is still on it's way. We are here together for their climb up, and we can all expect their journey to be as beautiful and captivating as this music. "Goddess of the Hollow" seemed a bit short, so I'm relieved that it's actually part of a dual album release, kinda like what _This Will Destroy You_ did with their 2 "New Others" albums (though those were released a month apart) back in 2018. I'm confident that these two albums will be worth the wait though I will admit that Chroma Velocity did set the bar really high and was actually a random TH-cam recommendation that got me into your music in the first place lol. Once again, thanks for your out-of-the-box approach to electronic music, City Girl.
Hey all... I waited a few days to really absorb this one before I threw in my two cents. First, I didn't purchase goddess of the hollow yet as I don't think I could give either one the proper attention that it deserved. So one at a time for now, and I'll be saving that one for another day. Siren of the Formless actually seemed to be a bit of a throwback to some of City Girls beloved earlier sounds, with obvious nods to Neon Impasse and some of the softer elements of loveless and snow rose, at least to my ear. As always, the musicianship and arrangements are top notch and somehow manage to be relaxing and exciting at the same time, just as any good daydream should be. I really love this and I'm giving it the big Wayne's World thumbs up. Excellent!! Big thank you to City Girl for dropping two albums for us to chew on in these seriously weird times. Hope you are safe and well out there.
I've been having a rough time with myself, and the only thing holding me back from doing terrible things to myself and the only thing holding me together is my comfort shows and City Girl. I showed it to my grandma yesterday, and now she is going to listen to City Girl as well. Thank you so much City Girl, for all you have done. As much as I loved goddess of the hollow its not as easy listening as this one. This one doesn't demand your full attention you can listen to it and work yet it still is amazing. This has helped me so much with the art piece I'm working on at the moment. There is something about your music that feels more like art compared to other music. I don't know why. Maybe its the mixture of the album cover with the songs that suit it.
We got so caught up in 'Goddess of the hollow' a few weeks ago that I forgot to leave a comment. We played both albums that night and came back today for an encore and to say thank you for being the forever soundtrack to a special time in our lives.

Damn, what a treat, still familiar but you can tell City Girl really wanted to trying something new with this album, way more emphasis on traditional instruments in those later songs than most her stuff, formless angel almost sounds like a synthetic version of noir fading into traditional Venitian music. I'm real glad City Girl isn't scared about dipping her toes a little more in different directions with her albums because it usually turns out great.

it's amazing the contrast between this and goddess of the hollow. while this has a foundation of fun melodies and whimsical layers, goddess of the hollow appears to rely on melancholic notes and somber mood shifts. if i may, i'd like to offer my opinion...perhaps you are stuck between worlds, feeling as if you lack the ability to control anything around you, including your emotions, not realizing that your potential for dynamic change rests inside of your very own mind. we all have the ability to allow both light and dark into our worlds, as do we possess the inherent capability to reject those very same energies. the decision is up to us whether we fall into the traps of self-pity and helplessness or rise above and strive for inner peace and self-love

This...This thing... although i cant put a name on it, its an emotion i feel. A great overwhelming, one might call it. When i listen to this, immediate butterfly's. Damn, what a treat, still familiar but you can tell City Girl really wanted to trying something new with this album, way more emphasis on traditional instruments in those later songs than most her stuff, formless angel almost sounds like a synthetic version of noir fading into traditional Venitian music. I'm real glad City Girl isn't scared about dipping her toes a little more in different directions with her albums because it usually turns out great.

2 years later but city girl uses ableton plus a ton of plugins for their music.If you wanna get a better look at them, they stream infrequently but if you can catch one you can see the whole process there

Thank you so, so much for this beautiful and serene album! The art based off of Ophelia floating downstream is so fitting, gorgeous, and dear to my heart as I've portrayed Ophelia before--such a bittersweet combination of melancholy, bliss, and acceptance of the world around us and our place in it. I listen to these songs all the time along with Goddess of the Hollow during work and when I want to relax and calm down. City Girl is keeping me sane during these hectic times!

it's amazing the contrast between this and goddess of the hollow. while this has a foundation of fun melodies and whimsical layers, goddess of the hollow appears to rely on melancholic notes and somber mood shifts. if i may, i'd like to offer my opinion...perhaps you are stuck between worlds, feeling as if you lack the ability to control anything around you, including your emotions, not realizing that your potential for dynamic change rests inside of your very own mind. we all have the ability to allow both light and dark into our worlds, as do we possess the inherent capability to reject those very same energies. the decision is up to us whether we fall into the traps of self-pity and helplessness or rise above and strive for inner peace and self-love
