Would you consider the Stones one of the better live bands of all time? They seem to bring it live! It's like a whole new band every other song sometimes... so interesting
Lots of great live bands but nobody does it like the Stones decade after decade. Some of their greatest songs become more alive on stage. The sound wasn't very good in those days and the screaming made it difficult for the musicians. That's one of the main reasons The Beatles stopped touring... in '66
My girlfriend ( later my wife of 22 years) and I would ride around all night (well, not All night) in my Chevy Impala listening to this on cassette. Gee, I miss her and I miss those nights. She used to say “When The Stones are gone then I’ll know I’m old.” Guess I’m not old yet.
At that time , songs were very short just to play them live. They were very influential to punk. But in 1966 the Stones released "Aftermath" , wich cointains the song "goin' home" , wich was the longest popular song at the time with 11 minutes and 35 seconds long.
Thanks Joel S for this trip done memory lane. I hadn't heard "Lady Jane" and "Fortune Teller" for a very long time, loved it. Wonderful reaction, L33, spot on as always. Blessings and joy to all.
people diss this album because it's two different actual live concerts, plus some studio songs with crowd noise dubbed over (Fortune Teller), all put together to recreate a full concert... but I've always freakin loved it... the closest thing to a punk rock concert before the Ramones in 1976
@@marthagavey9321 People also diss their album Flowers because it was a North American release only with songs chosen by their American record company... but it is also happens to be a great choice of songs and great album cover, and one of my all time favourite albums
Glyn Johns produced the record, what he did was hang microphones over the edge of the stage for crowd noise, and then mixed the crowd noise into the recordings of the Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones worked hard to carry live recording through actual performances thereafter, once sound equipment started to improve. "GOT LIVE" was a breakthrough for the times, but it did promote more live recordings. I prefer the 'GLIYWI' EP over the LP.
Watching this and the dead’s version brought me back to college when I took a History of Rock Music class. I had to do a project so I took the song “King Bee” and broke down the differences between the Grateful Dead’s, Rolling Stones, The Doors and Pink Floyd’s covers. All live versions I think. Keep up the good work, love your channel, especially Phishfry Saturdays
Wow. This is an interesting choice of an album to react to. There are a lot Stones fans who don't even know this album exists. Let alone everyone else. This album has some moments. A problem is this is from an era where the band could not hear itself for all the screaming. There were no sound monitors in existence at that time.
This is about the only Stones album I’ve never heard before, believe it or not. I used to see it in the record stores, but I was always talked out of buying it by someone saying the sound was terrible and ‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out’ blew it out of the water. It’s not like me to listen to that though. Thank you for this! The Stones used to cover a lot of Otis Redding songs, and Keith heard “Satisfaction” as a payback song for Otis to cover, which he did!
Aftermath was Brian's masterpiece, bringing instruments never heard in rock before. On Under My Thumb he played marimba. For this album the tracks I've Been Loving You Too Long and Fortune Teller were both studio recordings with crowd noise dubbed on! Get Off My Cloud was the UK follow on to Satisfaction and helped turn them into the hippest band in the planet! For more great early roots Stones, try their first album.
I need to check if I still have my vinyl purchased either 66 or 67. As a young teen, I don’t think I understood “got live” and hated it because of the poor recording and crowd noise. Wonder if what you played was a remaster…sounded a lot better than what I remember. This is my favorite Stones era though.
Loving You Too Long (from 65) and Fortune Teller (from 63) were the only studio cuts. I like how the Stones played their songs live at a faster tempo. I heard the Byrds play live from the same time and they did the same. Live performances at the time generally only ran for about a half hour, same with the Beatles.
This is obviously a cleaned up mix, I had the original vinyl of this album and the crowd cheering was constant ( part of the charm ). As for lee’s question. Today the Stones are still one of the great live acts.i have heard said the last tour was one of their best. I’m not rich enough to afford the tickets to sit in the noise bleed seats, I just buy the DVD or CDs of the bands I love
Still prefer the original" Under my thumb!"They make live sound triple speed, instead of jazzy,it's on Meth! A Cloud is a" Groupie" FYI !Finally Playing some early stuff! with a little Bo Didlley beat!
If you listen to 60s or 70 versions of these songs with better recordings you will love them. During this period the screaming girls they put them to much in the mix. They learned. Very early stuff. Still great.
This album is near the very bottom of the Stones catalog. There are far better bootlegs of their early stuff live. The BBC stuff they released later is great. This one is a mess with terrible separation, and a few tracks faked live with crowd noise added. It was a record company money grab and the band has said as much
I was surprised that it was recommended as well considering that he hadn't heard the studio tracks yet. Still good but I think the studio versions would have sounded better

For sure
❤❤ absolutely!! 👏

Yes they are. And they have a good amount of great/classic live albums like get yer ya yas out , Brussels affair and live at el mocambo
For a while, yes. Over the past few decades though they just became their own tribute band. It's just nostalgia and going through the motions.
The good early Rolling Stones🤘
Thank you, Joel S., for a taste of the Stones’ early concert energy!
As a piece of Stones history, this is great to hear, flaws and all. Thanks, Joel.
My first live Stones album i ever bought. And it went on from there

I like that story ❤

Check out Beatles Live at the BBC vol 1 and 2.
Live stones yes
Get Off My Cloud 🔥🔥🔥
Got Live If You Want It was the first live album I ever heard when I was a kid. I still listen to it along with the rest of my Stones music.
If there live footage of this Charlie would just be holding it all down whilst staring into the middle distance. RIP Charlie you legend
That's a perfect description when I saw him live as well in the 90s
Yes❤
I've actually never heard this one! I love this era too. 😮

I guess you never heard MC5s first album...Kick Out The Jams? Live 1968, true proto punk.
@@TheHogsEarReport I didn't know they put out a live album
@@1967PONTIACGTO We are all learning. It's a killer album, the most radical album of the 60s. Uncensored copies drop the F -Bomb!!
@@1967PONTIACGTO ♥️🥰♥️some people just don't appreciate their diversity!! It's crazy, boring 😒, their loss!😉

Yup, they bring it live. Great reaction Lee. ❤😂
Lady Jane has always been one of my favorite tunes by them. Bring me back to a very odd and strange but very good time of my life. ❤😊
Boy would I have loved to be there! Thanks.
Great LP! I definately like Get Yer Ya Yas Out better as live Stones album. I have a huge collection of Stones posters, books, 70s rock mags etc.

This just rocks hard I love it❤
It's crazy how many albums they have!!! 😂

I saw them in 1969 and again in 2022 - they are the best live band out there!!
First early live Stones.

Looking back, this sounds as punk as the bands that played in my bar in the 80s

That’s probably because that’s as long as they could control the crowd lol

Well, IMO, they might be the second best live band .. haha ; )
This album got a lot of flak back in the day. It's not their best, but it is still good.
Still prefer the original" Under my thumb!"They make live sound triple speed, instead of jazzy,it's on Meth! A Cloud is a" Groupie" FYI !Finally Playing some early stuff! with a little Bo Didlley beat!

What an odd choice for a Stones album to react to... Well, I've got nothing lined up for the next half hour anyway, so what the hell.
I was surprised that it was recommended as well considering that he hadn't heard the studio tracks yet. Still good but I think the studio versions would have sounded better
Even when it came out my friends and I hated it. Lousy sound
and weak perfomances. Next up Beatles live at Shea Stadium ?
I like Stones studioalbums, idont like this live things its too screming
The Stones sucked live, speaking from experience.
