I think only America and Australians can really appreciate the Drive In. Those of us old enough and who lived in rural areas knew how much these meant. Would love to get a Australian made speaker

They seem to be going up in value all the time. I used to buy them in 1990's for less than a dollar each when bought in bulk!

thank you David ,did you know that the Westrex in car speakers had a mute system at the speaker post so that when you hung up the speaker the sound was muted thus saving you running around turning down the speaker pots or volume controls, and also the signal strength was about 1 third of a watt at each in car speaker

Thanks for sharing Australian Drive-In speaker history! We are still producing Drive-In speakers in the USA. Drive-In's run deep in our family history, as past generations have owned and operated several theaters. We truly hope you enjoy our products, as they are very nostalgic to us and others. Currently, we are still manufacturing brand-new Drive-In speakers from the original molds. Our products are made right here in the USA! Specializing in rare. Drive-In movie theater memorabilia from the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s. Vintage speakers are our specialty, too. We have one of the fastest growing collections of restored and unrestored Drive-In speakers around. Detroitdiecast.com.
    'Cheers Mate!

Whilst the in-car drive-in speaker as we know it today did not start selling in big numbers until 1946 because of WW2; it was actually developed by RCA in 1941.
