Hey guys! Thank you so much for tuning into this week's episode of Coin Quest: Nickels! Also, thank you SO MUCH for all of the support in January on my "5 banks: 1 Hunt" miniseries! It was an absolute hit! As many of you have noticed, my small cent and silver stacking placemats on www.quinscoins.com are currently sold out. I plan to have more back in stock in the next 2-3 weeks! If you would like to get notified when they are back in stock, I have added some widgets to the website to let you sign up to get an email from me when everything is back in stock. Thank you again for all of the continued support! Happy hunting and have a great week!
Hello Quins, thank you for sharing with us your videos 😊, and I message you here to know you if you're buying anykind of coins like pennies and Dimes, pls. Help me to sell my old coins I have
Can I ask you something I got a 1937 nickel but its not a buffalo its a jefferson and I se that they did not start making Jeffersons until 1938 do you think its worth something? thanks
Might want to check those 39p nickels for a notched R on pluribus. It could possibly be a Henning nickel, which was a counterfeit and they are worth money. If it’s a Henning nickel, it will also weigh up differently.
I hope in the future you will expand those nickel hunts. I finished up the 38-59 and went on to do 60- my birthday. Now I'm almost done with those. Great video as always.
Great video hunt ! Quinn.Look out for 2009 p/d nickels. They are an anomally as they are extremely difficult to find. They are selling at a large premium if you do find them. Just a heads up !
What’s the best way to wrap half dollars? I don’t see anything besides the wraps online. Was hoping to find a plastic tube that helps the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TYIA
I bought two nickel boxes, each had a penny in each box, lol. One was a 1924 Wheaty so I was happy, lol and each box gave me a war nickel each. Nickels are fun to crack open when you hit on them, but I would say most of the time it goes very slow of getting a decent hit.
I saw one of your old video’s and you were asked what could you put possibly on the back of your hat ,how about cha-ching ! Just a thought, have you done any video’s on metal detecting???
Hey.. everyone... i'am a old collector..longtime.. and i have a many..Jefferson nickel wartime .1943 P. 1944 P..1944 D..1945..1946..1947..1952..1953..1953D..1954..1956..1957..1957D..etc...i want to sell all my collections... if everybody..interested..!!!? 😊❤
While watching this I stumbled upon a very odd nickel myself... I could tell the weight was off... Yes after clocking the nickel it was 4.53 grams not 5.0... So I have a 1986 P Nickel that weighs 4.53 Grams with very tight grain lines running up and down whole coin... Any idea why it's 4.53 on scale?
Hi thanks for ur time and efforts VERY enjoyable for me. QUESTION DI I WAISTE MY TIME SAVING 04. 05. S. BUFF HAND SHAKE COINS ETC. ?? SHOULD I CASH THEM IN
I have a 1943 nickel but the S is on the side of the building not on top . Is it worth anything l heard it is so l put it in my deposit box at the bank. Someone told me it was worth a lot of money ?????
You sir have pushed me past my own collection too make my own videos with My findings and My own collection simply with good information and awesome coins. Thank you quin, for giving me alot of this information... truly helped me learn what to keep and what to forget really quickly when all was feeling like I wanted to collect everything... finally got out of that phase where I was obsessed with every coin now I'm able to finally see the 'right' coins.thank you quin
Yo Quinn! It’s been a while man what’s up! Nice to see you upload another video! That’s an awesome 30 minutes right there I can watch. Whatcha been upto recently my man?
Thanks! Yeah I realized how close it was to 30:00 and made a few quick edits to get it to reach exactly 30:00 cuz it just seemed satisfying that way lol I've been good! Been busy visiting family and taking a few weekend trips which has been nice. I hope you've been doing well too!
That messed with coin came out of a washing machine. The coin slips between the agitator and the drum on the bottom of the tub. I pull them out all the time because nobody in my house knows how to take change out of their pockets.
If you don’t mind a small correction, it was somewhat misleading to say that here in the 2020’s, a 1964 Jefferson nickel is “the most common nickel that you can possibly find”. It would have been far more accurate and informative to state that the 1964 D Jefferson nickel still holds the record for the HIGHEST MINTAGE TOTAL ever for any nickel minted in the United States. The problem with stating that it’s the “most common nickel that you can find”is that that was true DECADES AGO, but it isn’t true ANYMORE. Far more common today (as I write this) are the 2022 and 2023 Jefferson nickels, which understandably seem to be all over the place in change, everywhere I go. Secondary to that are nickels minted within the last 8 to 10 years, or so. At any rate, the 1964 date Jefferson nickels being a dominant presence in your pocket change is something that slowly diminished over time, and it already happened many years ago. Time and billions of newer nickels being minted has now largely erased that situation and made it so that the ‘64 Jefferson nickel is far less common in your pocket change and in circulation in general than it used to be. Same with all of those old nickels from the 40s and 50s and early 60s. (Plus the ‘38 and ‘39 Jefferson’s, of course.) Oh, you can still find one of the 1964 (and older) Jefferson nickels here and there in change, or if you go roll hunting for old nickels, but when I first started doing that as a kid over 50 years ago in the early 70s, trust me, the 1964 and pre-1964 Jefferson nickels were far more common, and I mean FAR MORE common. It was a lot of fun, plucking those nickels from the 40’s and 50’s out of the rolls and putting them in my jar at home. There were on average at least a few pre-1960 dates in every roll (I saved all pre-1960 dates. 1960 was my cutoff year back then). Being that I lived in San Francisco as a child, there were many with the S mint mark in the rolls I got from the bank and once in a while there was even the occasional, somewhat rare wartime silver clad nickel. (Those were rare even 50 years ago-but they are much more rare in change now.) All the Jefferson nickels that I kept with the S mint mark were pre-1956-that is, through 1955. Starting in ‘56, No S mint mark nickels were minted for a number of years. All of the above still exist in circulation, but 50 years later, all of the dates I’m talking about have just become that much rarer and harder to find. And that includes the 1964 Jefferson nickel. It’s nowhere near as common as dates from recent years are now. But it is true that it was minted in such vast numbers that it’s still (probably) only worth a nickel unless it’s in mint condition. Worn circulated specimens are only worth five cents, and that’s all they’re ever going to be worth for the foreseeable future-which means they’re actually worth less and less all the time (just like every other nickel that’s only worth five cents) because a nickel is worth less and less all the time, generally speaking. (Think about it.) But at any rate, the ‘64 Jefferson nickels are not very “common” anymore (although on average, you still can find the occasional specimen if you check through enough rolls or loose nickels.) Sooner or later, you might get one in change-but in 2023 (as I write this), the nickels that are now in circulation with the forward-facing Jefferson on the obverse (minted since 2006) far outnumber the nickels that are now in circulation with the profile of Jefferson obverse design that was used up until 2004. Happy hunting!
That rainbow colored nickel looks like someone tried acetone and heat...never a good idea with nickels, or any coin for that matter. I put a new nickel into side cutters, and one into a small set of bolt cutters, just because. It was small bolt cutters, side cutters (wire cutters) did not give a full cut on the other edge.
You completely dismissed those two major errors! Hahahaha you probably missed a BUNCH of money! I hope you're going thru these CLOSE UP because if not you're probably missing out on tons of money in all kinds of errors
I wouldn’t be so sure until you try finding, listing, and actually selling these kinds of coins for yourself. It’s definitely not as easy as you make it sound
I found coins in a dresser. The drawer was stuck when I got it open a groceries bag with 30 coins in it all the coins were collectable and worth a lot of money according to what I've seen on line.Dont know what to do I want to move to Costa Rico's, I have a 1928 buffalo nickle,I have pennies 1944 that a magnet doesn't pick up. I have Susan B Anthony dollars ,and Kennedy half dollars ,and some quarters, the dresser i found outside a dumpster..I would like to sell this stuff. Please respond.
I have been buying bags of "foreign" coins and bought and searched a bag today and found a '43 S steel penny. Being in Australia, I don't see many US coins but due to watching your videos, I knew to check if it was magnetic. What are the mintage figures for 43 S steel penny?
1943-S 1C (Regular Strike) ... Mintage: 191,550,000. Mint: San Francisco ... Over 100 million 1943-S Steel Cents were struck. That's a lot. But there are some worth money. If you find a 1943 Bronze or copper then you would be into serious money.
Guess it's just me keeping nickels from the 1960s- today, if I need em or not. 1960 is only 63yrs old- & they do keep making them with 1900s dates on em so what's wrong with me

Might want to check those 39p nickels for a notched R on pluribus. It could possibly be a Henning nickel, which was a counterfeit and they are worth money. If it’s a Henning nickel, it will also weigh up differently.
How much does the counterfeit 1939 nichol weigh?
@@tedbogan6099 I think a Henning nickel is supposed to weigh 5.4 grams. Real nickels weigh about 5.1 grams.
I hope in the future you will expand those nickel hunts. I finished up the 38-59 and went on to do 60- my birthday. Now I'm almost done with those. Great video as always.
That one nickel looks like someone tried cutting it in half with side cutters, but didn't have enough hand strength.
I have the P & S on back of 2 nickels
Interested 👍👍
How much does the the charts cost?
For only 20 boxes your Jefferson nickel album is so full. Great finds on the series!

At 20:30 that one’s been in a dryer tumbling around for a long time…….
Very true!
Back in the days when you had to pay a nickel to activate the bike pedals to turn the tub with a rope.
Do you think that was maple syrup on the Canadian?
What’s the best way to wrap half dollars? I don’t see anything besides the wraps online. Was hoping to find a plastic tube that helps the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TYIA

Just a guess on the nickel with the flat's and thicker appearance. I have found coins from the bottom of a washing machine that have looked the same.
I have two 1939, I'm not sure of Mint Mark ...
I've got a 1934 buffalo, and another buffalo that the date is worn off and can't tell what year it is.
That 39 could see a faint mint mark should look at it again

I have a 1943 nickel but the S is on the side of the building not on top . Is it worth anything l heard it is so l put it in my deposit box at the bank. Someone told me it was worth a lot of money ?????

How to send video or pictures? From Philippines?
Just found one in my late dads collection.
I have a 1961 full steps looks great
That's one of the good ones. The full steps is what actually sells nickels.
I would’ve kept that 2020 P there as they are 40,000th coin. Just put a sticker on it or something lol.
