MALAYSIA’S MOST UNIQUE CITY - Genting Highlands Malaysia

- We day-tripped to Malaysia’s most unique city in the mountains: Genting Highlands Malaysia. With incredible mountain views and cooler temperatures, Genting Highlands was the perfect day trip from Kuala Lumpur. We took the Genting Highlands Cable Car to both Chin Swee Temple and Resorts World Genting. This is a must watch Malaysia vlog!
Our first stop was Chin Swee Temple where we were able to explore some Malaysia Chinese culture. The Chin Swee Chinese Temple in Malaysia was newly built, just over 30 years ago, but it hosts two impressively large stone Buddha sculptures. The Chin Swee Temple was an unexpected treat during our day trip from Kuala Lumpur to Genting, and we took full advantage by flying the drone for some amazing mountain views.
Next stop was to get back on the Genting Highlands cable car and head even higher to Malaysia’s most unique “city”: Resort World Genting. It’s one of the most popular places in Malaysia for gambling and casinos, but it offers so much more. Basically, this is a man made Malaysia City built into the side of a mountain where the only access is by cable car. Resorts World Genting hosts some impressive malls in Malaysia as well as hotels, casinos, and a theme park. We didn’t spend too much time in the malls, but we went to explore the mountainside to discover a truly unique part of Malaysia.
Genting Highlands is located in Pahang Malaysia and is a one hour drive north of Kuala Lumpur. This was one of our favorite things to do in Malaysia so far, as we were able to see mountains, culture, and feel cooler temperatures! Fun fact: that theme park they're building will be the world's first 20th century fox park, and that hotel that is painted in different colours(first world hotel) is actually the largest hotel in the world right now(7,351 rooms) after the expansion :)

Actually, it is not true. You can drive to the top, there is a road, but it is quite dangerous. The skyway was built in 1997, before that people had to drive through a steep winding road. I remember when I was a kid, my dad drove through that winding road, going down, had to use alot of brake, then the brake got so hot and it stopped working. I was kid, I remember it happened, but did not understand why my parents were so panicked. He managed to get us down safely, and drove to the closest car repairing station.
Edit: Finally a youtuber that manage to catch the beauty of Genting Highlands! Great stuff guys, keep it up. And about the swastika, they are everywhere in Asia, as it has been used in Hinduism, Buddhism and Janaism for thousand of years. Don't worry, you are not the first one to be confused by it, alot of other travel TH-camrs said the same thing :)

I remember my first time going to Genting Highland, back in late 80's. I was 9yo back then. We went with a group of tourist using tour bus. They already have cable cars back then.
The passengers were advised to use the cable cars, while the bus use the road to bring up all their luggage. Same thing when going down.
Back then only the original hotel(you can see it at 9:20 on the background) was up there. There's no theme park, no shopping mall, and no that colourful painted hotel.
Basically it's just jungles all around it.
I remembered my time in 90s, our car and a lot of other cars smelled like barbeque when reached up there.

Yes, you can drive tru almost uphill and winding road till the top of Genting Highland and the road is very safe,all you need to do is drive carefully and safely.
One fact for you about the Genting Highlands. Genting Highlands is the only legal casino in Malaysia. If you like the views of mountain, you should go to Cameron Highlands.

We almost tried our luck in that casino but didn’t have enough time. Probably would’ve lost anyway 😂 Cameron highlands was on our list but we never made it there 😕 Next time

Wow! Such a perfect place to visit. The rainforest itself is smazing, lt seems that those mountains are the home of many different wifdlife..very beautiful scenery. Genting Highland is like a wide, wide bed of green trees representing mother earth.
i spent a whole evening at Genting Highland with my 4 years old little girl a long time ago.. now she is 18 years old but that sweet memory still fresh in my mind..

Hi Celine! Thanks so much. Glad to know our videos are helping you guys with your travel plans. To be honest, the Batu Caves aren't as bad as it seems. We really did have a lot of fun there and it was definitely an awesome experience (minus the monkey bite lol). As long as you keep your distance, don't have any food in your bags, and just keep walking they won't really bother you. I'm still very surprised I got bit by one lol
if you are visiting Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves is a MUST visit. Two months back the temple committee spent million of our Ringgit painting and repairing the place. To keep the monkey at distance or attack is, do NOT carry foods in your hands.DO hold on to your belongings in front your chest and the monkeys will leave you alone. the monkeys are only going after the foods which the tourists carried with them. Welcome to Malaysia.
Make Sure you visit Penang island ( food paradise ) + duty free Langkawi islands For un spoiled beaches !

and also in Mount kinabalu too.. it's -2 degree Celsius in there..

That cable car we took is actually a brand new one. They had issues with the old one and instead of fixing it they just built a new one lol. They are really nice though. you can actually drive all the way up to the top of Genting, it was originally built as casino (first in south east asia) and amusement park. amusement park is now being redeveloped into 20th Century Fox Theme Park

Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong will be proud of his efforts to build the resort at top of the mountain Batang Kali. Before Goh Tong build the Genting they all said he's crazy to build the largest hotel at top of the mountain. Now he did it, R.I.P Goh Tong 🙏✨you did well

My neighbors two houses down has a swastika symbol above their door. At first, when I saw the swastika as I walked past their house, I was completely offended! Later, I found out my neighbors were South Asian Buddhist not white supremacists.

Another awesome vlog, guys! I've always admired Buddhist temples. That whole place looked great! Stacia, thanks for the lesson on that Buddhist symbol. At least now I know the real (positive) meaning of the symbol. Ever since WWII that symbol has been seen as something negative. Oh I have some good news...I saw in the Philippine news that Boracay is slated to reopen on Oct. 26. One other thing, if you want to go somewhere cold in the Philippines, visit Baguio City. My now deceased Chinese wife worked there in the casino when if first opened....she also won the Miss Genting beauty contest many years ago...visited a couple of times many years ago before the big redevelopment but the amazing scenery was still there then of course...just loved KL also...called it my home away from home.

Basically there is an observation area near to one the park where you can see panoramic KL city view from 1800M height. But as seen from the video, the mist is so thick.. so thin chance for you to see the city view. But.. there is still a Google though😜
