I mean some of the jokes were a little cringe worthy. But like you said if you dont like it dont watch it. But also just because its a cartoon doesnt mean they cant go to far with some of the jokes and trigger their audience. I dont think it has to do with sensitivity, I believe it is more of moral compass situation. I believe some people believe that some jokes in cartoons are just morally wrong, and may cross a few lines, where you cant come back from. So to each their own. If you dont like the show dont watch. But if you do decide to watch the show, just be prepared for what some may consider, an unorthodox sense of humor.
I think the problem is, these aren't real people, they're drawings. Therefore as a sensible human being, you should be able to detach yourself from them on a personal level. Majority of people watching are old enough to understand that, and any kids watching aren't supposed to be watching in the first place, so that's not Family Guy's fault if they are.
WatchMojo did extremly shitty commentery about reasoning why people don't like Family Guy. While there are people who don't like their jokes, problems with the writing is the main issue here. Screams of silence doesn't just fails to be serious while trying to be, it completly mispresents issue with domestic abuse and literally gives "Just leave", "Kill the abuser" and "Don't rely on authorities" statements which are literally belittles severity of domestic abuse. Seashell Seashore party addresses criticism towards the show and instead of making a bold move they give yet another shitty take: "Domestic abuse victims should stay for the benefit of the abuser". Life of Brian is extremely manipulative episode which tries so hard to be "dramatic"that writers go out of their way to completly change Brian's character. There was literally an episode where writers showed simpathy towards a rapist in a non-ironic way because said virgin never got laid.
A big narcissistic aspect of this whole “triggered” is the fact that comedy is designed to have no line. Since there is no objective line to it, no one gets to decide what is objectively offensive. Meaning that if they make a joke about slavery(which a lot of black people are ok with including me), there is no authority to decide whether it’s right or wrong since humor is subjective. Bottom line is, comedy has no line; if you don’t like a joke then don’t watch the show simple.
