Physics master's graduate here: The maths for the Higgs Boson existed for years before it was actually discovered. We knew what the mass was supposed to be and looked for a particle that matched. My guess is that they just used the papers that had already been written on it to make it accurate in the show. I've seen some other comments saying overwise but this was my first thought!

I’m not sure on the higgs boson part of the prediction, but I imagine that while the particle hadn’t been discovered yet the equation wasn’t necessarily specific to the god particle and the guy in the video is just making it seem crazier than it actually is

I'm pretty sure the creators of the Simpsons all had Doctorates in Mathematics and such. I remember reading about it years ago. They also use a base 8 counting system. There are so many cool things about this show

Basically most of the writers have PhDs in physics, so they sort of estimated an equation that later turned out to be true. It would make a cool follow up to this video to find out about hidden maths in Simpsons (and the spinoff Futurama)

The formula for the boson particle was already a theory, but not proven yet when the Simpsons made that episode. Some physicists from the writers team knew about it and was convinced it was true before it was proven and they decided to put it in an episode

The Higgs boson was predicted by Peter higgs if you search it up, the boson gives particles mass by interacting with the Higgs field, the equations in the episode was probably made by Higgs. Super fun that the simpsons actually include stuff like this though :)
