Oh my the one where they slide into DMs... I have this with multiple artists now from different discords. One or two even tried making me feel guilty for not making a commission with them. Do NOT let them make you feel bad. What they are doing is wrong and is a bad way to do service. Thank you so much for the info in the video, very informative! ❤
There are so many scammers on Discord 😫 . The General rule is that if you feel pressured or they rush you it's a red flag, Thank you for watching the video! 💜💜
The short answer would be growing on social media. Every social media platform is different, so I'd encourage doing your own research. Personally, I've grown a lot on Twitter by doing fan art. Sharing your art everywhere (not only final works but wips and such) generally works. There are also places that don't rely so much on engagement like Reddit or Discord. I recommend r/artcommissions, r/starvingartists, r/hungryartists, etc. Also, make it clear in your social media that you're open to comms (Ex: handle, bio, posting about it, etc. Lastly, pay attention when other people are searching for artists! When that happens, it's your opportunity to reach out and have a client (Or simply showcase your abilities) .
