please talk to me!!! i have watched a lot of ships sailing (KaiSoo, ChanBaek, SeSoo and lately, ChanSoo) I tend to analyze things.
KaiSoo : Kyungsoo sees Jongin as a hardworking dongsaeng so he really takes care of him. I rarely see them being playful with each other. What I see is Kyungsoo being soft towards Jongin and Jongin treating Kyungsoo as a beloved hyung.
SeSoo : Sehun being the maknae, he really likes cuddling and being playful towards his hyungs. Yes, he can be naughty sometimes, but he is also very supportive towards them.
I think it really makes a difference when a ship is composed of two same aged friends as opposed to hyung-dongsaeng ship.
Since ChanSoo is of the same age, they can be very playful towards each other. Chanyeol always annoying Kyungsoo and Kyungsoo retaliating in turn. But the fact remains that I can also see them being supportive and a source of comfort towards each. Like they said in an interview, they really do great during their acoustic numbers, which shows that they spend a lot of time together just jamming or hanging out to be able to predict each others' thoughts (when they do adlibs)

Sorry it's long, but you asked for me to talk so i did. I also like to analyze relationships.
I tend to think like you too. Korea age system is rigid (well at least to me, considering where i am from and that they are not apart by many years) so there is a lot of respect towards who is older and who is older tend to have a big brother attitude, to look after the youngers. So in my view it’s easier to be really close friends if you are from the same line, because you can be comfortable and just you with them. So i completely agree with you that it’s different when a ship is between hyung-dongsaeng and two same aged friends. When being different ages there are certain behaviours you have to follow it seems. And we have similar views towards the ships you mentioned.
I think kaisoo share a lot of similar traits, as in they are both more to the quiet side, serious, hardworking etc, so they understand each other and that helps them bond. But as you said i also see them more like a hyung/dongsaeng relationship, with kyungsoo taking care of jongin and kyungsoo being jogin’s loved hyung.
About sesoo i think kyungsoo has a big soft spot for sehun, is like sehun can get away with a lot of things. Sehun loves his exo-hyungs but i also think he has a soft spot for kyungsoo too, maybe also because they have some similar traits although sehun has more mischief. I also feel like sehun respects kyungsoo a lot.
About chansoo they are very playful with each other, but i think that’s only one side of them, that we usually see on concerts. I think they have another side we can’t see that much but we can get glimpes, that show a long understanding of each other. The way kyungsoo comforted chanyeol when he cried, the way they are close friends since pre-debut, how they share a love for music and are compatible when working on covers and small pieces of interviews we get when they talk about each other. We don’t see their relationship in private, but they give me a feeling that it’s very natural for them to be around each other. Of course not all the time, but to me it seems they are close and supportive. Honestly is how comfortable chansoo are with each other that makes me ship them so much. It must be really freeing to have someone that knows the authentic you, loves you that way.
