My mother's family were Mackays from here . Eric Mackay left to emigrate to Australia in about 1870 as a young man . He returned to Scotland to become a Freemason, actually joining Robbie Burns' Lodge near Ayr. He then returned to Victoria, Australia and married and had four children. . He died in 1912 in a farming accident . His son Robert Millar Mackay was my grandfather . Bob and his siblings were 'more Scottish than the Scots ' I spent two months last year walking and holidaying in this beautiful northern part of Scotland and felt strangely at home . USA - My grandmother was a Kay and her family passed down stories from Scotland. So, I am for sure and certain that this was an anglicized / americanized name. Thank you for this wonderful video.
