    I swear by Eheim, one of the main reasons is what you said about silence. The one thing I hate however about the Eheim classics though is that vinyl tubing, and it's GREEN and clear on top of that. It's flimsy, kinks, ugly, and is clear so algae grows in it.
    Kudos to Fluval for making much better tubing.

    I no longer used canister filters, but when I did, my Fluval 406 was m favorite. The only downside to the Fluval canisters is the shape of the media baskets makes it more time consuming if you want to cut and use your own filter media. Other than that, their solid filters.

    The downside to Fluvial canister filters is; yes; they don't spill water as much when you take the lid off; but since there are no handles, you will most likely spill some getting it from underneath your tank.

    • @jfdd43
      @jfdd43 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This has a way to adjust the water flow. However, that ridiculous tubing he loves, looks garish on a 10gallon tank. The bright grey seals are very visible, and they can not be easily replaced with something nicer

    You are right. My Fluval 305 is so quite that sometimes I take out the outlet / feel water flowing out of the outlet just to be sure that it's not dead. It's silly but I'll do it again haha

    Cotton pad really? It’s a fine foam filter pad or a water polishing pad..... and did you really just tell people to rinse off their foam with a hose? A hose that has unconditioned water that will kill all the beneficial bacteria you have grown in it for your tank you always rinse your foam in a bucket with tank water in it so you don’t kill your bacteria that’s the dumbest thing you could do you’ll always be fighting to get your tank cycled every time you clean the filter cause you just killed everything that turns ammonia into nitrites and then nitrites into nitrates to complete your tank cycle

    • @MrJacobCastro
      @MrJacobCastro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment! Any experienced fish keeper will know that most of the beneficial bacteria resides in your bio media and in your aquarium itself. Rinsing the filter pad will not recycle an aquarium. Plus, using a hose to clean the filter pad is really the only way to get it super clean which will in return help your filter perform better. I've been running my aquariums this way since the start, never had any issues directly as a result of doing this. But that's just my opinion! Thanks for watching! :)

    Does anyone know if its possible to control the flow rate on this 107 model? Could that grey cut off lever be partially closed to reduce the flow rate? I have a 50 litre tank so am worried the flow might be too strong. However I am struggling to find a smaller external filter that is silent enough and I would like to use the Fluval if possible.

    • @TurinTuramber

    I bought this filter and found it frustrating beyond belief. Been messing with it for a week now and still don't have it running. Sitting on the floor underneath my aquarium. Going to cool off for a few more days and trying again. Have two Seachem Tidal 35 running at the moment, one set up with a normal setup (foam and the bag of filter rocks it came with) and the second one with rocks for biological filtration only. Those were easy to set up but not the Fluval.

    Aquarium-centric companies are the worst... I have contacted dozens of companies to see if they'f be willing to sponsor my children's charity and to see if they'd be interested in having us sell their products in our store; and very, very few have ever responded; and then its usually just to say they are forwarding the email to the appropriate person; which then leads to no future response. It's been a two year battle dealing with these companies. When I have reached out to vendors in my other business, I usually have a response within a week. It's like the fish companies don't want to sell their product or something.
