I believe it can track without people in the vehicles, as can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/imt2qZ7uw1s/w-d-xo.html (and five seconds later in this video, and at 2:13). Besides that, there is the beacon you can purchase that will let you track without being in view of the camera; also in that video I linked.
Hey Skydio, I got the drone and I am trying to set the height and distance farther out. Is this doable with the Skydio? I was out snowboarding, and I wanted the drone to be above the trees or at least 40 feet. I tried the + and - and also dragged the beacon and I was not able to get it farther away from me. Is there another way to keep it at a set height and distance? or is there something wrong with the drone?
Hey Tati, currently our max visual tracking distance for human subjects is about 30 feet. Pushing out further from that would rely on GPS, which results in a poorer experience especially if you don't have sufficient GPS Signal. We have heard the feedback from other customers asking for additional height/distance settings, and we are looking into it. For now, if you want to switch to tracking with GPS you can send off a dronie by double tapping the Skydio button on the beacon, when S2 performs a dronie it switches to GPS tracking until it is close enough to see you and switch to visual tracking. In this way you should be able to get S2 above the tree line. Again, thanks for the feedback!

@@colmercer3315 I hope it proves to be an effective solution, but I can't help but think about the DJI sparks that were falling out of the sky because of a bad battery mounting design. Would hate to spend $1k on a drone just to have some turbulence dislodge the battery mid flight. That being said this is really the only thing preventing me from pre-ordering, I am going to wait and see how this magnet set up fairs.
@@hiiiiiii238 Well if that's the case, a strap to hold the battery will make it more secure. But, I don't think that the magnet will be the only thing that keep the battery in place. I'm sure they have done many tests with this feature, I hope.

Finally a serious competitor for DJI, that used to rule the drone industry. Being saw the footage from Skydio 2 and its capabilities, no doubt the smartest drone on market. But skydio 2 have a few categories to improve in further version. Although battery claim is 23min, in real world the flight time is less than 20 min depend on wind and tasks. Not really good in Low light since it come from 1/2.3 sensor. We hope to see 1” sensor in future versions. Nice to have delicates charger, right out of the box. A foldable design will be more compact. And the controller is feel cheap and not good as what DJI offer. If your guy can improve in this 5 major categories, people will buy a ton of your drone.
I'd murder this thing on my commute home via my electric skateboard, so may obstacles (trees, power lines, buildings, stadiums, tall fences, electric train wires, bridges (both over and under), sky walks, short tunnels, various terrain, river, lakes, wooded areas, playgrounds, confined trails with overhanging vegetation, plus both up hill and downhill ie change in altitude (sometimes abruptly) and a hell of a damn. It's Colorado after all. I doubt this thing would survive my awesome ride home! Good Idea though! 👍 Hey Skydio, send me one for a week, let's see what you got!😂😂😂 I'll be your short term product tester! @Dori Tos Most likely.
Do you send to Portugal?
have to see the reviews after its out..... still love my Autel Evo...…. make lots of videos with it...
non foldable......not good for hiking in to a location and it lands on its battery? no thanks
@@retromojo1 Definitely compromises but not a deal breaker imo, the thing that worries me is that it uses magnets to secure the battery to the drone.
Does it have a return to home feature?
Can it be delivered to India or can you recommend any distrubutor of your product? Looking forward for your reply
Not yet, hopefully one day soon!
@@Skydio I appreciate that. We pray that you also successfully lauch in India.
Batch 3 is me. And FINALLY a camera I can't crash.
Can you hand launch and hand catch?
EDIT (for those who don't know how dangerous it is to hand catch:
th-cam.com/video/FOVS4OhaJTM/w-d-xo.html
This one is especially bad. Warning, it's graphic. There's blood and a deep looking cut on the arm:

Why not foldable????
Yeah no kidding!!!!!
Joint torsion. This is one rigid body, not several connected by weaker joints. Parrot recently updated their Anafi arms to reduce the arm torsion but nothing beats a solid body.
Looks a little like a DJI Spark...but I guess much better
The short answer is that it's very difficult to get a reliable calibration with all the cameras mounted on the wings if they are foldable. Our product is unlike most drones, we need to be able to see in every direction and map objects with centimeter level precision. We would rather Skydio 2's avoid crashing than fold, it was a sacrifice we were sad to make, because we know so many of you wanted it to fold.
Skydio You didnt try hard enough. Foldable or no buy, simple as that.
I'm living in Korea and I'm immersed in the skydiode. I can't buy it in Korea but I can't buy it in the US
Può decollare e atterrare da una barca a vela in navigazione?
Why magnets securing battery instead of physical locking mechanism?
I think the battery slides in place with the magnets holding it in place.
@Dori Tos I was actually thinking the same thing about the compass, but they must have found a way. Either way pretty cool drone, hope it holds up, would definitely love to have one
Love it! I’m Selling my MAVIC 🤪
send me one to try it out
Nice drone!! How much do the batteries cost?
$99
I really like this drone and it's AI capabilities, but I wish someone would do a neutral side-by-side comparison of the cameras on M2P and Skydio 2.
I'm sure you will see plenty as the TH-cam reviews come out, the people can show off the difference much better than we can.
If your guy can improve in this 5 major categories, people will buy a ton of your drone.
how to buy im from the philippines
Was this video shot with Skydio 2 ?
The drone shots were, yes.
Can Skydio track a cyclist in a dense steep forest?
yep!
Game changer!!! Plus American made!!!
Finally DJI killer , hope you selling on indonesia
Don't be surprised when it's in pieces! 😂😂😂 Might help you in the development of the Skydio 3! 😂😂😂
Fantastic 😉👍👌

can't wait!
Skydio 2 best tracking drone ever and best price..!!
I asked on the FB page and it seems to have been deleted. What is the release date?
Now
Their website is taking pre-orders now (limited quantity) for a delivery in November
@@MaximusWilliams I'd love to know what there definition of "limited quantity" means
@@MaximusWilliams I see where they are asking for 100 down, but I never saw about any delivery. I then learned they want 150 for the controller and another 150 for that wand/stick controller. So the 999 has now become 1299. Then how much are extra batteries? So the price may not be what it seems on this.
@@DannyFyffe We are starting out first batch of shipments in November, Batch 2 will be shipping in January. We are almost sold out of Batch 1 (delivery by end of the year).
How far can it go
Average flight time is 23 minutes. Max speed is 36 mph. Depending on variables (wind, temperature, etc.) this will change it of course. Also, if you get the controller, it has this range:
th-cam.com/video/imt2qZ7uw1s/w-d-xo.html
Whats the page to preorder?
Their official webpage is www.skydio.com
Up on top right corner (on a desktop computer) is a blue button that says "RESERVE NOW FOR $100".
I want it to be released in Japan!
I own a few dji products this up there with them na better maybe a change in the wind well done USA 👍
Hi! I want to preorder, can you ship to the Philippines? Very interested! Thanks!
Goodbye DJI finally a drone that’s made in America:)
Autel evo is made in america which is so far the best drone after mavic 2. Not impress with this one.
I'd keep my Chinese Mavic 2..but definitely checking out this American drone!
@@harvpila show us your flights Bro... I wanna believe...
@@AsikDrone whats in my flight you wanna see?
@@harvpila
Probably seeing if your evo can track as well, as well as avoid obstacles as well.
Battery is held by a power magnet? 🤔🤔
She's a beauty:)
Dji killer, um happy finally usa drones all over the world soon
Can't wait till you create a drone with 1inch sensor. No more DJI for me then :)
You don't necessarily need a larger sensor to have amazing image quality! Check out this image quality report of the Skydio 2 stacked against DJI's best drones: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2316/4925/files/image-quality-report.pdf?9271
Skydio All of those test results were derived from using Auto mode. Who shoots with a Mavic 2 Pro in Auto?
I was initially very excited and eager to put down a deposit, but all too quickly this excitement became disappointment as I see you don’t accept orders outside of CONUS and Canada.
i love it
Would be better if the drone does not land on the battery, that going to take a lot of scratches in the battery.
Cover the battery with tape?
Hows this better than the DJI Mavic Pro?
Amazing!
Have the mavic air, will sell it and get this.. the mavic air can't track worth a damn
