What about a pedestrian shoe like the Air Max 270, which is everywhere but not that loved by sneakerheads? What about the VaporMax? Welty seems like the friend that everyone has in their group. Big "zig" when everyone "zags," which to outsiders might make him seem obnoxious, but the homies know he is genuine and wouldn't trade him for anything.

Welty is completely right about the VaporMax. Nowhere close to a classic yet. I honestly don’t think Nike hasn’t had that many classic sportswear models in the last decade or so. The Roshe run? The FlyKnit Racer/Trainer?
Roshe is one I shoulda mentioned. Flyknits too, easy classic from the 2010s.
@@brendandunnecomplexI don’t know if the timing on Nike retroing the Roshe this year was right but I can almost guarantee they will retro it again in a decade or so and it will be very well received
I've always hated the Roshe. As someone who owns a ton of shoes. (400 or so) I never cared for the roshe. I did kinda follow trend back then and rocked Janoski max on chill days with joggers a decade ago.

The hardest thing with the Kobe stuff is that Vanessa Bryant's style and aesthetics do not necessarily align with sneaker/basketball culture. Recent releases and rumored releases are just not it for me, I much rather see classic colorways that align with his legacy.
I see where you’re coming from and you make some valid points. But I think part of what makes these new releases interesting and heartfelt is they ARE coming from Kobe’s loved one and not necessarily aligned with “sneaker” culture. I’d much rather have that than something more corporate/hype beast-ish

That Chinese New Year Af1 looks nuts probably one of the nicest Af1 I've seen in a while. It kinda gives Nike & CLOT vibes cause they remind me of the CLOT AF1 they did a few years ago with the full silk upper and outsole which was a pretty cool feature. Also nike had the Levi Nike by u Af1 that looked very similar as well and those are one of my grail Af1 are the Levi ones. I hope they do another Nike by u with Levi.
Vapormax being in the off white 10 collection kinda makes it more of a classic in todays age then the air max 2009

I loved my flyknit trainers/racers back in my younger days, but they just don't sit right on my feet these days so had to let a few pairs go on klekt.
VaporMax is a classic for me. Favourite pair would be NikeLab Air VaporMax 'College Navy'.
I agree with Welty, Vapor Max is NOT a classic. The platform was influential but people won't be buying restock after restock like they do for AM1, AM90, AM95 and AM97.
And AM PLUS/TN outside of the US they’re treated like Jordan’s in the US

Love the classic conversation. Honestly with the criteria set the 270 is a classic to me. To joes point of seeing them everyday I do too. Never owned a pair, I’d get a pair and do think they are classic. They will stand the test of time

Regarding the classics, Converse Weapons ? Great commercials in the late 80s. The Celtic colorway is back on February 8th. Hope to see Lakers colorway soon.
Adidas should bring back the “feet you wear” models, especially the “equipment” line that were widely popular in late 90s in Europe.

I think the Air Max 270 is certified at this point. Somehow that sneaker has become as widespread in the non-sneakerhead collective consciousness as say, the Blazer Mid, in recent years. Go to any grocery store or mall and by the time you leave, you’ll have seen at least two people wearing the Air Max 270. Nike’s done a great job of making that silhouette appealing and accessible.

I bought the Adidas/Disney Superturf Adventure and (not for the Disney part of it) the style of the sneaker is a good balance between chunky and slim, very fun colorcombo, and the extra details are just cool & fun

Vegas tables need a pair of Jordan 1 Spades. Spades across the board. Classic sneakers need to be loud when they first came out, continued to be popular, cultural impact, and retro model released. The list needs to have Reebok Club C's, Nike Pegasus line, Jordans 1-14, Adidas Superstars, Converse All-Stars, etc. Modern classics would likely be Yeezys, Nike Huaraches, SB Dunks, LeBron's line & AF1s, Adidas Boost.
The 270 is the Nike Shox NZ of this generation
The bulk of my collection consists of Air Vapormax models, i love them and still wear all of them in my rotation and will always seek new vapormax. I think the 270 or vapormax will be looked at as a classic in the future. The vapormax was a polarizing design at the time, and i thought the 270 was like a future take on an airmax 90 design. The vapormax was like the premium model, while the 270 was the affordable option. The 720 looked like a take on the air max of previous generation of 2013. Of that era, i think Nike React Technology is the correct answer. The nike react will classic shoe.

i really wish they would go back to the air max 2016 silhouette. for that kind of all around shoe, i think they are way better than the 270's.
