    • @gurvmlk
      @gurvmlk ปีที่แล้ว +57

      Some idiots don't understand what a pawn shop is. If you want full price for selling an item, you sell it yourself. The purpose of a pawn shop is to unload what you don't want with the ease of cutting out that middle man. And in exchange for the convenience, you get less money for it. The deficit basically acting as a fee you're essentially paying them for the service they're providing in getting rid of your junk for you.
      It's the same as when you go to a convenience store. It's more expensive than the grocery store, but you're willing to pay that extra money for the convenience of how much quicker and easier it is to get in and out, not to mention the convenience of location. Pawn shops are the same thing, except instead of directly paying for the service, you're indirectly paying for it by receiving less money than you otherwise would for the item you're unloading.

    • @TheSimianDeity
      @TheSimianDeity ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@gurvmlk Worse than that, 99% of people do not understand that "pawning" an item does not mean selling it. A pawnshop gives you a secured loan against the value of your item. If you don't pay the loan back, they sell the item to recoup their money.
      You see it all the time on the show. Rick asks everyone "what do you want to do with it?" or "do you want to sell it or pawn it?" and they just look confused.

    • @gurvmlk
      @gurvmlk ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TheSimianDeity That I actually didn't know, but I've never actually gone to a pawn shop myself to sell anything (nor have I actually watched this show aside from random TH-cam clips). That, however, seems like something that was probably common sense at one point in time, but forgotten by the vast majority of people as pawn shops became more associated with selling than loaning.
