Shucks, Charice still gives me chills till now. She's the only Filipina singer that gave me chills. Nowadays my top favorite is Morissette. Regine is really THE queen. She set the bar so high and Filipina singers look up to her.

Jonalyrn Viray - the queen of extreme vocals and operatic voice
Katrina - Asia's voice of steel. The queen of runs and rifts and sustained long notes and belting.
Jaya - the queen of souls and lower register.
Regine - the mother of all belters and Asia's songstress.
Charice - the international singing sensation. Has the best lower register in the world that gives goosebumps. Effortless in belting high notes.
For me charice is the total package here.. She has the voice to die for. The quality of voice is superb. Charice is my number 1 pick.

Yeah, Regine championed (if not pioneered), this belting style which then became practice songs for others.. I remember back then, where if you won't sing like Regine, you can't win singing contests.. Just like in other areas, like sports, if someone before you is very good, that would be the model for the others to follow. It just happens that in Philippines, almost everyone LOVE to sing (even not talented ones like me 😂), so that becomes some sort of practice. Practice makes perfect
I've watched Charice version of all by my self many times already but it still gives me chills every time. She's a LEGEND. Of all the 16 singers, she's the only that gave goosebumps. Sayang talaga siya.

Jaya is half black which makes her super unique and her voice is so powerful for that very super charismatic reason. She utilizes her uniqueness to rise up to the occasion and delivers outrageous performances every single time. ❤️

First of all, my picks would be Regine, Lea, Charice and Jaya. Some of you might disagree with me but this girls will be my forever idols. Charice and Lea are known internationally, and locally, we knew Regine and Jaya. Regine and Charice are good in belting, Lea is good in her singing technique and Jaya is my idol for her unique voice quality.
My second picks would be Morisette, Katrina and Jona. Why? Simply because they are my Vocal Trinity.

misconception, most of them are really bad singers..the thing is most people here sing so the ones with natural talent get discovered. its like basketball in the ghetto, most are not that good but the cream gets a chance to rise to the top.
I'm in between I have an amazing vocal range but I cant sing maybe if I had a vocal coach I can sing better and use my vocal range. I Think most Filipinos are like me if they get trained and use what's in their range they can sing good

I'm so grateful that I'm not the only one who have those opinions. I'm really sad why Lea Salonga is greatly unrecognized in this list. Her contribution alone to the music industry is immense. She made the country known to broadway. And it's a blooming scene already in the Philippines.

Queen Regine is the one who started belting in the Philippines in the late 80s when she won a National Singing Competition and later the Asian Pacific Singing Competition. The clip you showed was her 20th anniversary in showbusiness and she was suffering from laryngitis when the sang that song. She was about 40 something year old then. She became the benchmark of the rest of the singers in the Philippines. Jaya is an Afro-Filipino who became the Queen of Soul when she brought R&B to our music scene. She is by the way the first Filipino to chart in Billboard 100.
