Thanks Graham! It was a great trip for sure, we both really enjoyed it! I was hoping to see snow being in the middle of Winter, but they said they were in the middle of a mid-Winter heat wave lol
Out of all the places we visited in NZ back in 2015 (both islands) we found Dunedin to be the place we said we could easily live in! It's such a beautiful place.
@@johnlambert1744 It was a magical place in the 50's and 60's when I grew up there. Started work their in 1970 and left in 1975. You could go out for a walk on a summer's evening, say around 9pm and you'd meet a Gentleman and his wife out strolling; you'd say good evening and the gentleman would toff his hat and the woman would nod and smile at you. Life there at that time was just so uncomplicated and amazingly safe. You could leave your house unlocked - neighbours looked after each other and local dairy owners, butcher and general store all knew you by name. How we have mucked up our society!
I can’t help but feel that the train could be running a bit faster on many sections of track. Are they running deliberately slow due to the condition of the track & rolling stock?
Awesome footage bro! Have taken the trip couple of times myself. Remember shooting past the old stadium at Carisbrook, but couldn't locate it in the vid. Has it been taken down?
Great Video John, New Sub here! I have ridden the gorge on the train after doing the rail trail a few years ago! thanks for sharing
First time I've seen a road and a train line use the same part of a bridge - sorta like in Rocky but even better. Great video John.

That signal box and station at 2.10 is pure 1930' s Great Western.
Wingatui Station.
Dam, this makes me just soooo homesick for Dunedin and Otago!

Even to the paint scheme and colours.

omepeet2006 Thanks for the kind words! I'm not sure about Carisbrook as we are from Australia so I don't know about that part sorry.
No probs John.
I found out that Carisbrook Stadium was demolished in October 2013.
