This is a great review!!! Speakers sound amazing!!! Definitely considering purchasing these!!! Thank you for another great review!! This is my go to channel
Glad to see you did a reveiw.I've had a pair of these in my small home studio since NAMM weekend.I wanted the 02's,but they were too much monitor for my space. These are Perfect.I'm also using the MEME box.Was using 3 sets of monitors.2 pair are on Ebay right now.I have these on Ultimate support stands, with Isoacoustics stands on those. They hang in mid-air,right at my ear height like that.Unplugged my Sub.Going to hold onto it for a while though.Had my home studio over 20yrs.I've owned a lot of mid-priced monitors..Listening to Rushs,Tom Sawyer and Red Barchetta.Neil Pearts drums are hanging on the ceiling between the monitors.Only had 1 set of monitors that would do that.I had those for the last 10 years.03's are replacing those..Always had 2 ways.I've been looking for a pair of 3 ways for over a year.Always More that I wanted to pay.The price and sound on these is a Win-Win. Best Regards..
Thanks for the info I wanted to hear an honest review out from the marketing stream. I think this gives a clear idea of how they translate and are perceived in a real scenario
Thank you for this. I’ve had my eye on these, but I have not seen many videos out yet, so it’s hard to make a decision since they are speakers. This was helpful brother. Thank you so much for an awesome video. Much love blessings to you.
I’m so close to pulling the trigger on these. Currently have the HR824 MK2’s & have reached my ceiling with them. think these would raise that ceiling for me
DO you think the Kh120ii with the FootPrint03 would be a nice combo? I thought about getting a more "fun" Speaker for producing, listening to music and in sessions since the kh120 are very flat and clinical. But I also wanted to get some type of reference speaker. Do you think i will get both with the FootPrint03?
Great Question. I had KH80 and FP03 side by side and found it to be redundant. Honestly the FP03 is all you need. The MEME technology allows you to switch between 4 types of speakers. I moved the KH80 to my office space now and mainly use FP03 in my studio. Only way to find out is to get a pair and test them out in your room. If you room is decently treated the FP03 will sound amazing in there. Good luck
Thanks for your video. I have the KH120s and my mixes translate well, but they aren’t very musical in my opinion; they sound more clinical. Would you say these are musical (compared to Neumanns)? I heard you say they are transparent & translate well.
would like to know that aswell. Also got the kh120ii and im thinking about getting either a more "fun" speaker or a reference like an ns10. But if the barefoots are fun they could be a good option
Hello, another Neumann KH120 owner here! I'm also tempted by the barefoots, but would like to know if they are actually going to be an upgrade or a sidestep!
Hello, thank you very much for this test, I am waiting for the unit to be tested and I will decide whether I will keep one or take one of the FP02 models. I have 2 questions, it seemed to me that the ports should be facing outside? On your test, they are quite close, pointing inwards and towards each other. When you point them outwards, can you hear a noticeable difference ? And the second thing is that you turned on Flat very quickly and it was only Cube and Oldschool, there was no Hi-fi mode at all. I was wondering whether in this mode the smaller ones would not give the bass that they may lack due to their size compared to the FP02. In your opinion, they lack some of the bottom end or is there enough of it ?
Barefoot designed the ports to be facing inwards. The monitors were labeled left and right when unpacking from the box. The bass is very tight and punchy. If you like a lot of bass a sub might be needed. The Hifi mode to me sounds like the flat mode but with a gentle smiley face eq that sounds pleasant. For any mix I believe the flat response is the best. I will try them with the ports facing the other way.
Thank you very much for your answer, in every video I have seen so far with Barefoot and on the NAMM Show they were positioned with the port facing out, so I was convinced that this was correct. You can definitely hear that they sound like Barefoot even in your video, which makes me feel positive about them, I can't wait to hear them in my studio. All the best, best regards 👍
I asked Barefoot support a question and received a response > Hello Mike- You can place them anyway you prefer. However, we recommend you have the tweeters and mids to the outside. So please check if you can what difference it will make for you 😉
@@michakaszkowiak1804 Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it with the ports facing out. It made no difference. My room is also well treated so the results might vary depending on the room. I usually prefer the tweeter and mids closer to me. I think you can just experiment with what sounds better.
Great! The first review in an real environment. I use a pair Neumann KH 80 and I think about the Footprint 03 as a second Monitor. What is your thought?
KH 80s are great. I use them as well in my living room setup. The barefoot will be your mains as it has more bass and clear mids. You might not even need the KH80s because of the MEME technology on the barefoots
@@Lapography thank you so much! Sounds great. I love my little KH 80s. The idea is Neumann for surgical mixing and mastering and Footprint 03 for producing with more bass and headroom. Two opinions and with Meme on top, five different soundcolours. 😊 In conclusion, do you think Neumann and Barefoot harmonized together and participate each other?
This is a dope video. Interesting set up with the monitors though... Just a quick observation .. does barefoot recommend having the subs outward? Most of the time the woofer is generally oriented outward with the tweeters inward. Lastly i see you have the Reftones. Is there anything that drove you towards those rather than a mix cube or Auratones? Dope song by the way 🔥🔥👍🏿
Nice review! I bought this monitors couple days ago . Like you said. This very transparent speakers, only bad thing is a noisy. Do you have any problem with this? Maybe I got just a 🍋 …
It has come to our attention that a small number of Footprint03s from the first production run have exhibited a higher than normal noise floor. Not every unit is affected but, the ones that could potentially have the issue fall within these serial number ranges: FP3000005 to 0078 - FP30000153 to 0236 After learning of the first instance, we immediately tracked down the root cause and implemented changes that ensure all units moving forward won't present the problem. Barefoot is offering this modification to anyone who has the issue at no additional cost, including all free shipping.
@@Lapography may you please do another review with different music genres? I want to listen how sounds in trance, house, melodic techno, hip-hop, trap, reggaeton, classical, pop, k-pop, etc. for me is not possible to hear it because in my country there are no music stores to try it. I want to hear the transients, the full frequency range and the stereo separation. I just have a pair of JBL LSR 305 MKI and my PreSonus HD9 headphone but I want to get my next mixing and mastering speakers. Thank's a lot for this video and your answers.
actually not in this case, some of the first units made have a noise issue, a few serial numbers, Barefoot is solving the issue for free. Current units are perfect, 0 noise @@LaythOfficial
How you like them compared to them new focals ? The footprint 01 I had lacked hi mid clarity and was pretty brassy but was excellent for listening and production. My mixes didn’t translate as well on them tho..
The mids are more present in the barefoots. The high’s are extended in the barefoots. The Focals have smooth highs. Both great boxes. I do like the translations on the barefoots.
@@Lapography I’m using the hedd type 20 mkii. Now. I like focal and atc as well.. barefoot also has a great playback sound.. would love to hear the 03 I may try them as well
No Subs needed unless you like excessive bass. It also depends on the room you have them in. The Monitors have preset built-in crossover points for the MEMO technology but not to be applied to Low Frequency Applications

Are they good choice for techno/house music? I'm a bit woried of bass response which goes only to 45Hz...

Hi, do your 03s have hiss when they are plugged in but no sound? is the hiss audible more than normal? there is a guy saying his 03s has too much hiss
