If you're looking for a book that reads like a darker version of OTGW, In The House In The Dark Of The Woods by Laird Hunt is wickedly good and very autumnal 🍁
I think The Tainted Cup might be my favorite read of this year (so far!) I LOVE a murder mystery, and one set in a unique fantasy world with plants and big kaiju monsters is top tier. Can't wait for the next in the series! I'm trying my best to read all of the Stormlight archive before the 5th book release in Dec, but I have a way to go so wish me luck!
Absolutely loved The Tainted Cup and The Justice of Kings! I want to reread The Locked Tomb series this Fall, and give the Murder at Spindle Manor, Bonesmith, A Dowry of Blood, and The Thursday Murder Club books a try.
Hi Elliot, totally LOVE your recommendations! Per chance could you please do a review on free fantasy books available on audible (plus catalogue) and/ or YT or where audio available…I’m vision impaired & find it hard to read through all the recommendations… or could you add with your reviews if they are available on audio. Thanks for your hard work. Smiles.
Added a few of these to my TBR, which I'd already been been interested in before, but it was a good reminder. Also, love the flannel! Weather isn't quite there yet here, but I love love LOVE the Fall and the change of the season. Thanks for all the recs!
The Tainted Cup sounds right up my alley! I just finished an Enchantment of Ravens, and I don't know if I've ever seen more Fall vibes in a book before. I loved it, Fall is my favorite season. I'm a cozy reader though, so no horror thanks. Attack on Titan messed me up 😅Currently reading Spinning Silver which is definitely more winter, but it's scratching that itch.
If you haven't read Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, I just read it and it gave me fall vibes. Bookshop and Bonedust, A Psalm for the Wild Built....I've been really stressed so all my reading has been low stakes, cozy.
I'm currently reading prince of thorns for the 1st time and I kinda wish I'd waited until October to start it. It's a very interesting grim dark world and I'm loving it!
Three cheers for flannel season! Starling House and Bright Sword have been on my list, bumping them up. The Tainted Cup sounds intriguing. I’m also watching Attack on Titan, which might be how the algorithm led me here. Is it fall vibes? I dunno, it is pretty cool though. I’d try the manga but I hate having to acquire so many volumes of a story, just because my life is pretty nomadic. Anyway, good vid.👍🍂🍁
You might like the manga The Summer Hikaru Died. It’s very interesting. I’m waiting on volumes 3 and 4 from my library. I don’t like to buy books I’ll read in an hour unless it’s five stars like Sheets.
For anime (or manga) to watch (or read) in the fall, winter or in the spring time, I recommend Frieren. It has this cozy, comforting vibe to the story. Its has such a beautiful aesthetic not to mention the themes in this anime are incredibly moving to me.
Added some of these books to my Fall TBR List 📚 & started watching Attack on Titans last night. Hadn't watched any anime since watching Death Note in high school. So good! 📖
Great timing! Finished Justice of Kings last week (based on your recommendation!) Loved the sprawling scope, political intrigue and necromancy aspects. I actually found it quite similar in tone to Tainted Cup (maybe the mystery/CI aspect?) but overall better characterized and the story elements more compellingly plotted. Just picked up Tyranny of Faith today from the library; really looking forward to diving into the darker Autumn mood/vibe and the expanding of the arcane “Afterlife” elements! Also for the record, I tried watching Attack on Titan, but found it just too gruesome and brutal. I guess maybe I’m too sensitive to those things? My anime cohort really likes AoT and raves about the story and characters (and also the Japanese sub voice actors!) but the action is just too graphic for me to enjoy.🙁
Hi there Elliot. How are you doing? Thanks for those recommendations. I also wanted to let you know, that just this past Friday I finished reading while listening to Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. It was so good. I have also started reading the Witch Hat Atelier manga. So far it is really cute. I'm really looking forward to seeing the anime. My real anime obsession though has been for the Apothecary Diaries. I can't recommend that one enough, and the light novels are great too. Also, yesterday, I started listening to Journey to Star Wars Lost Stars by Claudia Gray. So far it is really good too. For a long time, the only experience that I had with the Star Wars franchise was watching the movies and reading while listening to the movie novels. Now I am getting into the Expanded Universe or Legends series. It's been fun. Next week I am going to start working on the Frugal Wizards Guide for surviving medieval England by Brandon Sanderson.
I recommend Dead Things are Closer than they Appear by Robin Wasley for a YA spooky read. A magical fault line in this small town is opened one night and releases a bunch of "zombies" called shells. Now the gang is trying to find a way to close the fault again and keep the rest of the magic intact and away from the evil bag guy who wants the power for himself. I'm half way through right now and the writing is really fun because it's just full of personality. But because of that, I can see where it's a complete turn off for people too. The MC is awkward and teenagery but she has great commentary throughout the entire story so far!
I hate to leave more negative comments but I sincerely mean this as a constructive criticism rather than just a rude comment, but I think this video was a bit repetitive of some recent videos that mentioned these books. I think maybe it could have been YA and adult to have some more diverse options and included other books that haven’t been talked about so recently. I’ve been watching your channel for several months at this point, getting close to a year I believe, and I’ve gotten many great recommendations (and a few not so great ones) but there’s some videos that just recommend the same rotation of books that I’m not interested in and I’m not saying to never talk about books multiple times, but I would rather hear about other books, new or old, that haven’t been talked about several times already

Over the Garden Wall is a 2014 animated miniseries that is such an autumn watch. A beautiful dark fairytale.

@@bmoforever5562 awesome! thanks for the rec.
My friend and I have watched it every autumn since it came out 🐸🍂🐦
I'm reading The Hobbit at the moment and I feel that it is so fitting of the season. It is comfort while the outside is windy and rainy
I've been watching your channel for four years now, and nothing can compare to the level of comfort it brings me❤
Unrelated to the video but I am always mesmerized by el’s makeup! Really effortlessly pretty.
Love the flannel.

The fireborne blade sounds so interesting!
Been trying to get everyone into AoT since 2013. Glad you are kind of into it.
Starling House is such a great fall read. Definitely get those kind of vibes from it. Cool list!
Love the fall outfit. Perfect for being in a pumpkin patch or a corn maze :) 🧡💛
Love that pic at the end ❤

Very much just snatched a used copy of enchantment of ravens, thank you for this tip! 🌻😊
@@WhiningMoon I hope you like it!
Yes! An Enchantment of Ravens is peak fall vibes. 🍂

I had been into Mercedes Lackey’s Elemental Masters series. They are usually set in Victorian and Edwardian england

oooh I definitely will be putting the tainted cup on my tbr! it sounds right up my alley
Well the similarities between autumn and spring is their changing of nature so the books are still in.😇
You’d looooove AOT! Can’t wait for your review!
Attack on titan yeeees! Can't wait to creepy and witchy recommendations!
right when I needed recos yay thank you! 💙
I read The Fireborne Blade based on your recommendation, and I loved it. Thank you!

Great Video!
I'm reading THE HOUSEMAID'S SECRET, and BOOKSHOPS & BONEDUST.

I’ve read all but attack of titan!!🎉❤
I had mixed feelings about Starling House. It wasn't as gothic as I thought it would be, but it was very unique.
Do you use Fable and can we follow you if you do? would you be interested in starting a book club with us on fable??
As a Puerto Rican... what is fall? 😂
The Bright Sword was garbage. If I didn’t have toilet paper by the time I was done with it I would have used it to wipe my butt.
