Using the language analogy, when you are translating in your head that is essentially a conversation level, when you begin to think in that language that is more or less the point where you become fluent.

I also thought of the languages analogy just as you were saying it lol. The more languages you know, the easier it is to learn new ones, as you can relate grammar and/or vocabulary to the other languages you already know

watching this i couldn't help think about Auburn football transition to an NFL styled offense. Your video played out in real time.

JT this is great. I love listening to you, I have learned a lot. I grew up around football and practiced with my younger brothers team when I was 10-12 years old. I would suit up and play against them. I was 2 years older so I was bigger, stronger and faster.
But, a question regarding different systems how hard is it for a 17 year old high school QB to go from high school to college and the NFL at just barely 17 to now 22 that has had 7 different OC's, and 4 different HC's, 3 different QB coaches, 3 different teams?
Let me break that down more. High school QB age barley age 17-19 at Alabama. 4 OC's, 1 QB coach and 1 HC in 3 years. (he turned 18 when the season started in 2016, and he had turned 20 when he transferred to OU in 2019)
Then goes to OU for 1 year. 1 HC, 1 OC.
    That makes in 4 years 2 different programs, 2 different schools, 5 OC's, 2 HC's, 1 QB coach.
Now starting his second year in the NFL 2 HC's, 2 OC's, 2 QB coaches.
Yes the kid is Jalen Hurts and he's only 22. So in 6 years (just starting his 6th year)
    4 HC, 7 OC's, 3 QB's coaches, 3 different teams. (AL,OU, Eagles)
How hard is it for a young QB to learn with the consistent changes, the new systems and plays from team to team and coach to coach?
    Sorry it's so long.
    Thanks
    Toni

JT: I have had a similar thought as it relates to learning an offense. My question may be geared more toward continuity and chemistry.
Does a quarterback expect a certain type of release from their receivers or is the expectation that the receiver has to win regardless?
Also, more along the lines of the video, how does Quarterback preference impact learning a new offense? For example, the depth of a crossing type of route may be different depending on QB preference.

Hey JT, big fan. What does Green dog mean on Defense? Maybe I have it confused with another name but if I remember correctly it's freedom for the Mike to stay in coverage or blitz?

This is why I'm so irritated about people writing off Drew Lock. First he had to learn a new system as a pro. Year 2 new offensive coordinator and system and new rookie skill players. . Also he had to deal with Covid-19. Pretty tough situation. And yes he's still maturing and learning to be a pro, but he has shown flashes. Ultimately the Broncos still aren't sure what they have, bu that's to be expected. Really, this should be the year when we find out who Lock is as a QB and whether or not he sticks in the league. All the hate is unwarranted and overdone.

Ultimately though, those kind of setbacks will do any player in.

I know that this question and idea in general is usually focused on the QB, but it also applies to the rest of the offensive personnel as well. It's why New England took a while at times to get their WR depth chart finalized during Brady's years. They needed guys who beyond talent, understood what was needed of them within that system mentally. The Branches, Browns, Edelmans, and Welkers were fine as they spent multiple years in it. But the other WRs who had to come in around them were in constant flux because of the expectations. I'd imagine Tampa Bay got along quicker last year because Brady was really the only one being introduced to a new system. Once he figured it out, it was great because the rest of the guys on offense were already familiar with that scheme.
