@@gidgetdarcy sure. He was great...but he is 16 years old...it is ridiculous speculate on anything like that now. Who knows if that is even what he wants to do. Or If he will want to do it in 2 years or 10? He is not his father and even though he is a great drummer for being 16 years old, he is nowhere close to the ability to drum professionally for any band. Let him be a kid and figure out shit on his own. If that's what he ends up wanting to do, and he puts forth the effort, who knows, he may be good enough to pursue drumming professionally. I can tell you, without question, right now, he is not anywhere near the level of his father or at the level of most professional drummers.
@@justinkoeberl5797 I never said he was at the same level as his father. Nor that his end goal is to be in the band. I asked if you’d seen the Tribute show because Dave Chapelle talked about meeting Shane for the first time. He asked if Shane was a skater because he was wearing skater shoes. Shane said no, because he doesn’t want to hurt his hands. He said we wants to be a drummer like his father. So yes, he does want to be a drummer and has a passion for it. Yes, he is only 16. But to play with as much passion as he did at the show means he has a very bright future ahead of him. Dave didn’t even start drumming until he was around Shane’s age and Dave himself admitted that Shane is much better than he was at that age.
Well, Shane had an advantage: he was able to start early, train early, with professional equipment, he could see and hear, from a young age he was going with his father (we could watch him in videos, behind the stage, imitating his father) so... however, what we want at sixteen most of the time is not what we want at 25 ...we have to wait and let him be whatever he wants and work for it!
The kid is so effortless on those drums...amazing!

Shane… my heart goes out to that kid. I met Taylor about 20+ years ago at a Yes appearance at Tower Records in Sherman Oaks. We were both nerding out discussing Yes’ catalogue, and I had no idea who Taylor was. He finally told me and we both laughed hard and kind of bumped each other like bros. What a beautiful guy. So sad.
Shane has a band and only 16,he's going to carry his Dad's legacy on.
If Foo Fighters ever go back to the studios Dave Grohl could go back to drums like on the first few albums but if they ever play live again the only one who could sit there is Shane maybe in 4 or 5 years
