- Since the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, a Jezebel spirit roams about the world seeking to convince women to usurp authority within the family - take the scepter from the man - while an Ahab-like spirit infects countless men causing them to flee from responsibility - shrink from exercising their God-given authority. Granted that men and women are equal in their human dignity, God has brought order to this equality. Remember that Adam was created first and then came Eve. First the head of the family was created and then the helpmate - created from Adam's side making Eve the heart of the human family. But then came sin and with sin infection within the divine institution of marriage. The key to restoring marriage - the key to defeat the Jezebel spirit and the weakness of Ahab is found in St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians: Wives should be submissive to their husbands as if to the Lord because the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is Head of the Body the Church, as well as her Savior. This is biblical explanation. It is not Catholic explanation. The Catholic Church cannot lead you into that amount of deep truth. In the first place the Bible itself had been hidden away from the public for so long by the Vatican so that people wouldn't know the truth of God so as to challenge the Catholic Doctrine. Wow, this is good stuff. Though I'm not Catholic, I greatly enjoyed hearing this. Joseph and Mary were the perfect example of husband and wife. Joseph was a real man who took charge and obeyed God and loved his wife deeply, while Mary was obedient and loving. I think deep down women want a man who takes charge and makes the decisions for the household. By the way, making dinner/meals for your husband isn't abuse as someone below commented.

Therefore at least short marriage preparation course, confession with true forgiveness etc. lead to better marriages provided God is No.1in the marriage + loads of true love, sacrifice, selflessness, patience, oceans of fidelity (keep best friends at a distance PLEASE) & turns a blind eye to petty stuff alwaysssss. A great sermon. Fr. The church need priest like you to bless the marriage . For my marriage I was disappointed to hear the priest sermon on the necessity of church attendees to give money as offering .not a single word about marriage . That was some 25 yrs ago. I am living as a happy family yet . Lot of patience and give ups needed to (one has to be down to earth) lead a family life .
There are many husband's who don't recognize what is their role as husband and father . They must be protective towards their wife and children. They must know how to stand up for their family . And must know how to keep away and manage the bad outside influence of inlaws .In Most of the families mother and sister in laws will be the beginners of the problem creators . They start feeling pain when their son or brother start giving attention to their wife. Mainly happens due to when those mother was ignored and treated in the same way by her husband and family .

Seems like they haven't heard of the actual balance in the scriptures and that if you have a bad relationship with your husband doing the right, obedience is the way Humility and kindness turning the other cheek. How has returning evil with evil complaining or doing tempertantrums and manipulation ever helped anyone or where can you find that in scriptures? It is the contrary you find. This only works if the husband is a good Christian man to start with. Women like and appreciate a man who takes charge of the family and doesn't leave every decision to the wife. Many men in society today have the Ahab spirit. They are willing to let the wife handle everything and because he is not a strong head of the family, the wife takes care of business. However, if the husband is abusive, the woman should leave and go to a safe home. Don't live with someone who is mean. I don't believe God wants a woman to stay with her abuser.

Is it abusive to take away a woman's credit cards in order to keep the family on budget? Is it abusive to forbid her to wear revealing clothing in public? Is it abusive to demand she do the housework because the husband works all day?

Consider the comparison of Abigail and Nabal vs Jezebel and Ahab. In both situations the man of the house was not up to the task of leading the family as he ought to have lead it. But the wife, through choosing God and his ways or rejecting them, was able to either stave off disaster and slaughter or instigate it accordingly. Even if the husband takes after Nabal or Ahab the wife can and does have the choice always before her to either pray for her husband and try to keep the family pointed to God and his ways or reject it all and follow Jezebel's example. But even in the compromised marital position Abigail was in, she still showed submission to her husband. Jezebel did not.

The only way a married female believer captive to an abusive husband can ward off the jezebel spirit from getting a grip on her is to be willing to die at his hand. Cheryl Johnson, I'm so sorry that happened to you. I kind of know how you feel. Your situation is similar to mine. He misrepresented himself and it wasn't until right after the wedding did he show his true colors. He was so abusive and I would not bend down apologize and take it. I refused. And he got physically violent. It was a complete nightmare so I left. As a result I have serious issues with "men". I resent them so much. They disgust me with the way they think they are kings and get to treat women like shit. I will NEVER bow down to abuse, I will NEVER allow another "man" to think he can do such things to me. Suzanne fereiro: The priest should not preach to wives without also preaching to husbands. That is out of balance and is sexist. The priest put all the responsibility for a Christian marriage on the wives. But Scripture instructs BOTH husbands and wives how to treat each other. This priest omitted half of the equation. The priest should start the conversion process by teaching husbands how God are expects them them to treat their wives, as per St. Paul in Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her." Peter warns husbands that God will not hear their prayers unless they treat their wives properly. (1 Peter 3:7) Men should be taught that, or they will be ignorant of how God expects them to behave.

no. this is a very wrong set of teachings this person is giving and it does not align with the catholic church teachings! women are subject to their husbands because their husbands are to live in loving service to them, just as Jesus came to be in service to His people, the church, as the one true, everlasting sacrifice for our ability to have eternal life with God. the head is not about power, it is about a life of loving and sacrificial service. ;) if a husband is not that way, it is not his wife's fault or duty to be submissive to his ill treatment, expecting it will change him.

The jezebel spirit, currently known as feminism, had created a large class of old, poor, powerless women. Many of them divorced (more than once) and are looking desperately for a new relationship. Due to their promiscuity in their early years and then the subsequent divorce(s) they don't realise their ability to pair bond is broken and no man wants them. Men, on the other hand have been put through hell by such women and tried to "rule over their families" only to find the state backs the jezebel. After losing everything he doesn't want to be involved again.
For example, we had a singles night at my Church. 60 people showed. 3 were men. There are many single men of the parish but they were just not interested. Even after the call went out for more men to join beforehand. The jezebel spirit must be from hell. It destroys women in the long run, kills families, harms children and creates the inevitable degradation of society.
I see most of the comments here are, "But, what if the husband is abusive, blah blah blah." Obviously, that is NOT the model family, so why come up with the argument? If that's the case in the marriage, the wife still must realize what *should be* even if she has to do things opposite of what should be. All the excuses/circumstances in the world doesn't change the model Catholic family.

in actual fact Adam had already decided to eat it but feared the consequence. He should have had his covering of spiritual protection over his wife to protect her. But he did not. That is why he was punished. He then tried to cover it up and lie to God. That never gets you anywhere. the problem is that many men also use their role with violence. So, during the wedding ceremony the priest must explain to the husband to have respect to his wife. Thats why many men kill or use their wives as sex objects and beat them. Even though the wife may be a good woman.

They used to do that in some countries years ago. Some people don't realize that to make a marriage work is the up bringing and teaching love to their kids. There are good men, but the family teachings now adays, now that we are in the last days, seems to be less due to the two parents working, and the schools that teach little... Not all schools, but some. Parents must strive more with love and teach their children to respect and love one another.. I have spoken to parents and they say that kids need freedom. Jesus didn't teach this.
If you read the scriptures, it clearly states it. We may have to wait up to 10 or 15 years more, but what is happening to the countries and churches is compleating. The Virgin stated this. Also, as far as men, I see more violence every day. There is no patience in marriage. Divorce is up. If you say that I'm wrong,maybe in your area you dont see it.
