Darren was part of a magical history. He has a relative who was a leprechaun. There was a reason he was drawn to Samantha.

@@samme1024 There is an episode about Darrin's distant relative being a leprechaun...he shows up at their house. Darrin blames the leprechaun's appearance on Samantha, when it turns out it was Darrin's fault...just like this episode. The comment about Darrin's family being magical and that's why he was attracted to a witch...that is just an opinion of mine. I mean, it is fiction. So, my theory on the whys and wherefores means squat.

Endora was actually very wise. Look past her shared antipathy with Darren and she was usually right.
Her dislike of Darren was a bit ironic since the two actors got along very well together in real life.
Even with her dislike of Darrin, she was correct. If Samantha was my daughter I wouldn't have liked Darrin either. She was rarely wrong she just handled the situation a bit abrasive but she was always direct.

Most definitely. Her persona was very believable. I think it was endearing when she showed rare moments of being on Darrin’s side and it went to show that she loved him…in a I could turn you into an artichoke sorta way. 😂

FYI: Did you know that Samantha (Liz Montgomery) couldn't 'twitch' her nose at all? What you are seeing is actually her mouth moving from side-to-side.
One of my favorite episodes: one otherworldly person dealing with another otherworldly person.

Wood nymphs were from Greek myth and folklore. I guess they just decided to make them Irish for the show.
Maybe they emigrated to Ireland after the great Tsasiki famine
I think the closest the Irish had were the aes sídhe, the "fairy folk" that lived in underground "Fairy forts". Usually not the sort of folks you would want to mess with.

As the storyline turns out, she's not an old friend of Darrin's at all. He'd never met her before. She just came to kill him due to an old curse. So, the title of this clip is inaccurate (a pet peeve. Describe it ACCURATELY).
The magical suggestion suggested by Samantha do cast a spell "undo-the-deed" (the curse) was fun, but it's not like Darrin had any attachment to Gerry, so Endora could've zapped her into the next Universe (but then, there'd be no episode, would there??) :-)
Why the dislike between them?
Samantha typically doesn’t like to kill so she came with a solution to please everyone. Plus in one episode witches magic didnt work on leprechauns so maybe it wouldn’t on a nymph either.

Honestly, just depends on my mood. Who's to say a person has to choose? I'm not going to. I'm an equal fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, so I can easily be a fan of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie equally. I'm just grateful my mom bought a few seasons of each, as well as other shows from about the 50s to the 70s. I'm glad I grew up with some classic TV.
It's very much a Ginger vs Mary Ann thing, and Sam is definitely a Mary Ann... and yes, I'm team Sam.

Yes, season 3 also has great sound effects not heard in later seasons. I especially like the one they use with Aunt Clara's bumbling magic. I can't describe it but its hysterical! Note the end credits use a creative catchy instrumental not heard in any other season!

I've certainly heard of the unending conflict between vampires & werewolves and whatnot, but I've never heard of the animosity between witches & wood nymphs. :)
all interactions between mythical creatures are all based on a writers own opinion, when it comes to fiction. they probably just couldnt figure out a way for the two characters to have animosity, so they fabricated a reason, albeit a flimsy one.

well.. she is the daughter of maurice and endora afterall.. it is stated that maurice is one of the greatest warlock and i'm sure endora is one of the greatest witches. plus, samantha was chosen to be a queen and did help the witch trial/court

This show was so charming back then...I remember as a little boy Bewitched was the first TV Show that I saw in Colour cuz my friend and his family were the only ones that had a Colour TV in the neighborhood and I just remember it as being such a cute and loveable show...Elizabeth Montgomery was some nice lookin' woman too and Agnes Morehead was some kind of Ace Actress...Really nice and innocent TV... God Bless all the Actors on the Show...Sigh... :)

Avocado was a thing in the 60s.
My mom put sage green plush in two bedrooms and emerald green pile with a high low design (wish I could describe it better) in the formal living room in the 60s. The living room was changed to a wheat warm gold/beige in the early eighties.
Interesting how the word "hates" cat was used, then she actually jumped on the couch out of fear. It's always been hard for me to understand how "people fear, or hate, what they understand" because I'm so adventurous. This scene was a good example, though 😊.
It usually stems from some earlier trauma. I had a science teacher who was deathly afraid of cats. Of course, some of her students used to quietly meow in the back of the room just to set her off.
That would petrified me. Black Cat Alley must be scary.

I would love to see a movie about Samantha and her ethereal family's backstory. What was Samantha doing before she met Darrin, where do her relatives go when they're not visiting Samantha, we know that they age by the century, so how old is Endora and Maurice and also, how old is Samantha and cousin Serena and Uncle Arthur?
I don't know how old Endora is, but there is an old story about Sir Walter Raleigh (1552-1618) putting his cloak across a puddle so a lady wouldn't get her feet wet, and Endora claims to be the lady.

There's a fan fiction called "Missing Pieces" that covers that (the backstory). It doesn't go over Endora and Maurice's ages, but in the show it's implied they're thousands of years old. Samantha is "only" around 300.

Why would vampires hate roosters? Roosters give them a warning that the sun is rising, giving them a chance to get back to their den, coffin, etc., so that they can survive, and not be vaporized by the sun.
