You're not stupid! The UK makes it really hard. You need to prove that you're in a real, common law-type relationship in order to be approved for the Unmarried Visa - which means living together for 2 years. But from my understanding, it doesn't need to be in the UK and it doesn't need to be 2 years continuously. If you're serious about the visa, I would speak with a lawyer to see what they can do.
Hi 😊 Would you be able to advice what chances do we have with unmarried partner visa- we meet all the requirements except for cohabitation where we officially have 22 months living together however we have lived together in a bills included student accomodation where the only proof we would get for that is the landlords letter. The rest of 22 months we have all the proof for and correspondednces more than 6 each. Please help.
But how can I prove my partner and I live in the same address if I've been only in the UK as a tourist coming and going all the time? In order for me to be registered with his address I should be a legal resident of the UK, which I'm not, and which is what I'm trying to aim with this visa.
I'll be going down this same path in less than a month. Also a Canadian expat! 🇨🇦 How close to the date of application was your BRP expiry date? Really trying not to shoot myself in the foot and apply too early and have myself just short of those two years of cohabitation.
Hey Kali! I think my unmarried application was submitted about a month before my Youth Mobility was due to expire. It’s a bit awkward because you need the full 2 years together to be eligible, but you can’t wait until the previous visa expires. I think where so many people do this route, the UK Gov understands that you might have been together like, 22.5 months instead of the full 24. All the best with your application!
Hey, I am also applying with my partner who's youth mobility visa runs out in December (I am a british citizen and he is Australian) I had it in my head that you had to have 6 months remaining on your visa when you applied but is that totally wrong?? Maybe I have read that the visa has to have been granted for over 6 months!!
Hi, I want to know I'm from India Wright now I'm in europe on work visa , my girlfriend she is a polish 🇵🇱 citizen we are in relationship 5 years plush, we was meet on internet , we living together few days on our holidays , lat almost 5 years she living in uk, but we want living in uk together, So can we apply uk unmarried partner visa??
Hi there! This video was helpful. Thank you. In terms of your utility bills as proof of cohabiting, did they require a certain level of verification or did you just save the utility bill as a PDF?
If you don't live at the same address, I think you have to supply twice the amount of documents and there should be a section where you can explain why you aren't living together. But you'd need to be able to show through documents and perhaps statements from friends/family that you are a serious commonlaw-type relationship
You no longer have to co-habit for minimum of 2 years. It is acceptable to have been in a long term relationship of at least 2 years. Proof of this would been on-going communications between the couple, financial support, evidence of meeting your partner such as holidays together etc. Other rules apply such as financial requirements. The visa is not cheap at over £1800 but lasts for 31 months and can be converted before expiry. Application takes up to 6 months to process. Hope this helps. I was researching this subject today to find out how to bring my partner to UK as she lives outside Europe and I live in UK
Am i stupid? How am i supposed to live with my partner if he lives in another country? I want to have a visa so i can live with him? no?

What if you can't live together or haven't lived together but you've been together for longer than 2 years?
