  • The Prusa i3 Mk3 is a great 3D printer and has a cool spool holder, but some issues arose when using the new cardboard filament spools from Overture. These simple adapters reduce friction and make the cardboard spools work better on the Prusa. At the end is a dimensioned drawing of the adapters. They are simple and easy to make. I recommend PETG for low friction.

Thanks for sharing! I like that it fits the bar and not the spool so I don't need to do anything to my individual spools! Great idea!

Nice work modifying and creating the pieces you needed to fix the issue.

Why did you choose PETG to print the adapters? Also how have the adapters help up? Have they also started to wear? I’m watching this video because I have plastic spools that are creating a fine black plastic dust from rubbing as well.

I use PETG for most of my work. But, even if I didn't. PETG is a relatively low-friction material. They have shown no signs of wear.

Excellent. Has anyone made or shared the 3d model for these adapters?
