Muriatic acid is just impure hydrochloric acid. It can eat up aluminum pretty badly. Lungs, eyes, skin too, just depending on how concentrated it is. You'll see lots of recommendations to use a full face respirator, and to use the stuff for masonry and tile cleaning only. If it is concentrated enough, a vapor fog will literally climb out of the bottle and then up your arms and into your face.

Have you heard of this super cool power tool called a, "Dremel". Doesn't cost a whole lot. You can use it in really tight spaces. And you can use small, fine wire brushes to clean and buff things. The tool can also use small cloth-like buffers for polishing surfaces. I'm certain it would work well with Brasso. IMO, it beats dressing up like a bag lady and using caustic chemicals. I'd gift you a few cats to go along with your new garb but I'm certain they wouldn't stick around due to the smell of the chemicals. They'd probably find their way over to more fun territory. Like that vehicle with the hoarding rats. 😜

Hey, cool video. You're committed to restoring your truck to factory condition. Respect. I think the process you're looking for to restore the factory sheen on alumin(i)um castings is called vapor honing. There's lots of videos and diy stuff here on youtube. And you can replate those brackets and bolts using the copy cad setup from caswell plating. It's real zinc plating with a yellow chromate wash. It's the real thing. I'd love to see you do this. If you REALLY want to see this truck look factory new, you would be very satisfied with the results.

Spray it on (spray bottle will work, I use a garden sprayer), let sit about 30 minutes, you can see the oxidation dissolve away, test with your scrubbing toothbrush if desired, then flush with water/pressure washer, let dry. I'm so glad you never responded to my Instagram PM about the popperdoodles. This is much better. Plus we got to see a Charlie in the wild!

Blaster and a rag and LOTS of elbow grease will do amazing things to casr aluminum. The corrosion is aluminum oxide, the same thing they make grinding wheels and sandpaper from. Oil puts it in suspension and the rag works like a polishing wheel. The corrosion will keep getting smaller and smaller as you rub on it. Dont wash it down untill your hapoy and it can almost make shine like chrome with enoygh rubbing.

That Dodge is a '69 Monaco, a unique look for the 2nd gen Monacos with that front grill that year only. That car would make a great project for someone!

Owner of a fancy ranger and following closely. Try using brass wire dremel wheels. I had a corroded ATV engine and used them and it wasn't too abrasive and left a great finish but used a lot of wheels. Also try brasso or autosol, the have acid and abrasives that work together with your toothbrush.

JYs in your state are clean af, mine on the east coast are all mud and rust. Also most of mine don't charge me for hardware so that's a bonus.
