Monk drives car = abatti (breach of the Buddhist canon in Vinaya Pitaka) - i Love Teng the comedian and his Luang Pi Teng monk comedies.. but in truth, this is the media using the purity of Buddhism to make comedy with, and it conditions the local folk to think its oke when a monk is like this (more worldly minded than half the lay persons i know)
Driving a car is actually arguable question, some monks are teaching, that this is not apatti. In vinaya pitaka monks cound drive a boat. Actually we can't say for sure about modern items, is using them apatti or not. For example smartphones, laptops e.t.c.
