One of our favorite restaurants that we visited was El Rincon Veracruz in Merida. It's a family-run business and all of the food we had there was excellent, and everyone in the family was SO kind! (This is where we had the empanada, Gordita dolce, and tacos dorados there--I also had a horchata there and it was life-changing!!!)
Another restaurant we'd recommend would be Chaya Maya in historical city center of Merida! This place had a ton of traditional Mayan cuisines that they craft there and it was quite the experience, albeit a bit of a tourist hotspot!
We found that the best food was often at a random taco/food shack which is why I can't really give out all the names of the places we ate! Out of everything we had, the tacos al pastor kept me coming back for more--they were OUT OF THIS WORLD!
I cannot wait to visit Mexico again soon in a different region to try some of the other Mexican cuisines. What part of Mexico should I visit next and what food should I eat?! Comment below!!!!
I don't know why but there's something that makes Mexican food made in Mexico extra flavor and extra delicious because even when you by Mexican food in a restaurant in the United States you never get that level of flavor idk why people believe that are the ingredients because in Mexico are more natural without chemicals like in the US
I experienced that too! SO much flavor and taste in Mexico 😍
Neither the level of flavor or variety. There are so many variations of tacos, enchiladas, pozole, quesadillas, tamales, etc. not to mention dishes people outside of Mexico have never heard of.
As a Mexican-American I completely agree. A lot of food ingredients in Mexico isn’t as processed and have as much chemical/preservatives as American counterparts. In my dad’s hometown in Mexico they still mill their own corn for masa(maize) for tortillas, tamales, gortitas, sopes, etc.
Omg the food looks sooo good 🤤 I was in Mexico in 2021 and I'm longing for the day I'll be back there so I can eat all the food 😂 I LOVE Mexican food!
