Not sure the Houthis cutting one cable is going to do much!

Highly recommend all of Jay Foreman's stuff. Map Men, Unfinished London, and Politics Unboringed are fantastic!

Fun fact...before humans figured out how to use things like vulcanized rubber, synthetic rubber and polyethylene plastics, the electrical insulator that was used all around the world was called Gutta Percha...named after the tree that grows in the Malaysia region. The native peoples used it for things like making knife handles, but in the 1840s the great electrical scientist and chemist Michael Faraday discovered how good an insulator that gutta percha latex is, and within ten years thousands of tons of gutta percha were being harvested just for Britain to use in electrical cables and other applications.
The massive use of gutta percha specifically in submarine telegraph cables was so significant that the entire species of tree was brought close to extinction...but it was thankfully saved by things like the aforementioned vulcanized rubber. Even to this day, humans use gutta percha in dentistry due in large part to its bio-inertness.

Right at the end with a hose being cut….. be amazed dose a playlist of cool tools….. you can buy a thing and freeze a water line to replace or repair pressurized lines.

Elon Musk's Starlink is going to make all those lines obsolete.
