I have the 5.3 quart and I love it. The regular oven takes 15 minutes to preheat to 400 degrees the air fryer takes 3 minutes. Unless you are cooking an oven full of food the air fryer will be quicker and save you on electricity.
I got the 5.3 size and couldn't be happier. The small one is...well, just too small! It's all about experimentation. I initially went by the recipe book, but then began experimenting with various times and temps and I have it down pretty well now. I love the fact that it is quick to use and I don't have to heat up my whole kitchen with my convential oven. It is great for heating up left overs and cooking frozen food. I have lost weight using this great kitchen gadget and the food comes out very good! I absolutely love it and recommend it highly!
In the recipe book...if you carefully read it...it clearly states that you should prepare the roasted whole chicken only in the 5.3 size AirFryer! If hot air can't circulate then, the meat won't cook correctly. Look in the recipe book in the Table of Contents...at the very bottom...it shows a symbol for the 5.3 fryer and a different symbol for the other fryers. Love our 5.3 AirFryer because I read ALL the information booklets. Purchase the correct size for your family's needs...Just one or two people? Smaller sizes work great...Three or four? 5.3... OR, if hubby is a big eater and there's only the two of you? Get the 5.3 size. The way to steam? Fold some foil into a make shift pan for the bottom, add water and cook. Wahlaa....steam. I'm 65 and learned long ago how to improvise.
I only cook for me now. i destroyed two NuWaves and look forward to this ez design of the Power AirFryer xL and it's smaller footprint. I have a corner ready for it. I expect delivery in a day now. Weee. Roasted meats, frozen and unfrozen, are my main goal. Having lost 125lbs thanks to quick and jucified convection cooking, I'll never go back to my clunky and electric eating conventional oven. Well, except for a real Turkey! The little ramikin pies are right up my ally! I too ordered the smaller 3.2 qt model. Thank you for the great review!!
on the chicken recipe I found that it works really good and your power airfryer XL if you cook it at 330degrees for 40 minutes/flip over/ cook at 330degrees for another 40 minutes, it has cooked really well in the middle, very easy to carve and Juicy! NOT burned on top and tasted really Delicious!
I purchased the large 5.3 quart unit and have found it generally performs well. When using this unit with a pressure cooker you can really save time and brown foods to perfection. I've made great looking and tasting pork spare ribs using both appliances saving me hours of cooking time.
Of all the reviews I've watched, yours was the most objective, thorough, and professional. I really appreciate the information you provide on all of your reviews. It makes us smarter consumers. Thanks so much!!!!
Olga the problem with the roasted chicken you made was to large for that unit. you needed the 5.3 quart. The air could not circulate around the chicken.
Her review is good in that she does show some of the aspects. Where it is wrong is that she is using a small air fryer that is geared for small portions of food, for a single person or just two people who won't be cooking a lot of meals. The chicken is noted as being for a 5.3 qt, not the small one she has. We have the 5.3 and have burned some items, but it is trial and error, just as it was with my convection oven when we bought one. I love the air fryer, pork chops that were tender and juicy, beef and broccoli, chicken strips, baked apple crisp in it, chewy granola bars, muffins and much more. It saves time, electricity, and is well worth the price. For a large family it could be used to fix side dishes perhaps when you will run out of burners, maybe to reheat or even finish baking the pizza that was underdone when it was delivered. Dorms, RV and small kitchens, it is perfect. We had stromboli yesterday, meatballs today, on the stove I will make mashed potatoes and gravy for a meal.
I bought Power AirFryer XL from Bed Bath & Beyond (I have been using for 1 month) and I absolutely love it, my teen daughter make's french fry's, chicken wings, etc...
I got one as a present from a relative from christmas. Used it today and I am liking it. I have noticed though that deep fried food does not taste the same, but it is still good. Also, the taste really is effected by the quality and age of the frozen food. Some cheese sticks we had for a while tasted like the freezer smells, but deep frying would of cooked that taste out of them.
Kelly Trammell i didnt try it yet i was to scared because the book didnt say. so i just settled for fries but ima try it 2mrw for sure. what settings do you recommend for frozen chicken breast?
My niece owns a power AirFryer XL and offered it to me while she is in the process of moving so I went to this site to learn how to use it. I felt that you gave me much info regarding the fryer and I now have enough knowledge to get started with it. I also appreciated that you were very clear with the pros and cons, and explained very carefully which are the best ways to use the fryer. Thank you for this review.
I got mine last week and cooked 40 empanadas, chicken wings and french fries and it was great. I learned with the wings to cut some time off the recommended setting and also to turn them halfway through, and they are perfect. Thing is so quiet and no smoke at all.
Bought mine from Target about 6 months ago, and this weekend it just quit getting hot. Only used it occasionally, so it wasn't from heavy use. Everything works except the heat which is really the most important feature of an air fryer. It did well when it worked, but we're moving on to a bigger and better model.
I have the same air fryer here are my observations. 1. The preset cooking times suck they over cook items every time. It's really just trial and error. 2. I ordered the 3.5qt at first, discovered it was way too small and exchanged for the 5.3qt. 3 The fryer sometimes sets off my fire alarm for some reason? The whole chicken you cooked was way too big for the 3.5. I cook my salmon skin side down comes out perfect everytime. Other than that i love it easy to clean and saves me a lot of time.
DARKMANIV Thank you for saving this air fryer review. I just bought the 3 qt because it's not that many ppl in my home so I'm going to try some things in it today.
so true about the preset times..they probably do not want a lawsuit for undercooked food, just like restaurants do not like to cook meat "rare." I had to shave off about 20% from every recommended cook time.
thank you for a very thorough review and unbiased opinion of this air fryer. I've been trying to decide whether to purchase an air fryer on not (after just getting rid of my traditional deep fryer) and now I know. Thanks for helping me decide! Excellent video!!
I love my Airfryer. When I cook meat I always flip it have way through the time, and it comes out done. I cook pork chops, Fried chicken. It is one of my best kitchen tools. The Ronco Ready grill is the other.
This review convinced me to experiment air frying with my Breville toaster/broiler which has a convection feature . We have 2, one in our house and a smaller one in the RV. Don't want to add more appliances to either. Thanks
Wow the most thorough review I’ve ever come across on a product. I think you do a superb job, I would definitely go by your pros and cons. I definitely agree that most of these air fryers that they are pushing are basically compacted versions of convection ovens.
I think this is very helpful. However, we aren't all the same and what is a con for one person is a plus for another. As a single, I don't need to cook more than 2-3 pieces of anything at a time. A small ramekin of pie is just enough, though there are smaller pie plates available if you need to have 1 pie. For some people with limited space, such as in an RV, or no air conditioning, an AF is a good choice as it is smaller than the usual convection oven and won't heat up the kitchen like a regular oven. I have one on order, but after reading other reviews,, I decided to get a larger size. Solves a lot of problems. : ) I enjoyed this review very much.
I think there are two pros you missed is heating up the oven and cost of electricity (unless you have a gas oven). When we bake or fry chicken, hamburgers, fish or other there is heat from the stove or oven. In winter that is good, in summer not so good. The air fryer uses less electricity, so that saves money also. It is also handy to fix the side dishes. So while you are baking the chicken strips in the oven you can put french fries in the air fryer. Or fry other veggies, zucchini for example. Slice veggies, mix flour with preferred seasoning in a bowl or plate, beat a egg in a bowl, veggie of choice dipped in flour, then dredge in egg, then in flour again, set aside for a few minutes then lightly spay oil in basket or on veggies. place veggies in basket at between 350 degrees or higher, bake for approx 10 minutes. We have the 5 qt that has a divider so we can put in two veggies for a side dish. It is perfect for a single person in a small apartment, or older couple, like hubby and me, who no longer need to fix meals for a family. Make cornbread in air fryer while pinto beans are in pressure cooker (electric one) and we have a nice meal for cold days. Your review was good, give a person considering getting one the idea of what it is like.
Disregard this review. Airfryer worth it. Trying to be healthy. Good buy. I have same airfryer. I love it. It’s not an oven. Wrong. You have to follow instructions. Use oil spray. To get it crispy. It’s not for faster cooking. It’s for healthier cooking. Use little oil to get crispy. And the fat that drips is awesome. Taste is good
I just purchased (today) a Power Air Fryer 5.3 QT XL at Sam's Club for $99.98. After watching this video and read the comments below, I'm ready to use my Air Fryer this weekend. Perhaps I wouldn't roast my chicken in this Air Fryer, I'll still use my Turbo Broiler instead. I don't want the chicken skin to get burned. I'm thinking, cornish hen is best to roast using this Air Fryer.
I have the 5.3 and Cooking is soooo much faster now then Using the oven and wasting way more electricity . I'm single so it makes much more sense for me. You picked a chicken that was just too big for your size fryer. The separate accessories are a plus. I absolutely LOVE my fryer :-)
Just bought one of these and thought that this was a great review. It's good to hear the bad with the good. I love the fryer though and have just made chips from a potato...It blew my mind!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have just found you and so impressed that I have not only subbed but rang the bell to help support your channel. I am certainly going to check your channel first when I consider purchasing an item just in case you have reviewed it. You covered everything I wanted to know and had no further questions to research. Thank you again so much!
I can't thank you enough for that ultra honest review!! I've been looking for days at several models, reading any review I could find and being extremely disappointed at all the hype. Your video proved me right...it's nonsense...I have a convection oven and it works just fine...Thank you so much for not letting me waste my money!
The company clearly stated that the bottom 2 sections are dishwasher safe. Also it does cook faster and unlike your regular oven it won't heat up your house and uses far less power. It will fit a 7 inch pie pan and qvc has the cooler and both pie pan and baking dish in the kit..
I got the 5.3 XL a few days ago. Made chicken legs. I just patted dry, rubbed a little olive oil on and salt and pepper and poultry seasoning. (I did try the recipe in the book that came with it first and my husband loved it also, but wanted to try something a little simpler and both ways were great). Could only get one layer of 4 legs in it. They were delicious. I did add about 10 more minutes to the cooking time because the legs were pretty big and not at room temp.
I've had one for a while. It's not something I use to cook steaks or nice food items out of but it's convenient to throw some frozen fries or leftover pizza and it come out amazing
I purchased this air fryer and love it, one thing she did not mention is that the air fryer does not heat up your kitchen as an oven would. Also, this unit does come in a larger size, which is the XL Version, that I purchased. I cooked a full size turkey breast in it and it was nicely browned, moist and not burnt. I believe her roasted chicken was too Large for her basket. I have never been dissatisfied with anything that I have prepared in my unit. I do not use my oven. I would recommend and have done so, others purchase this appliance. Oh, you do not have to purchase their products to use, if you have oven safe pans already, you can you those.
I personally just received it and like it a lot I can see where the size would be an issue but if you're cooking a meal for a family I could see using an oven but for one or two people it makes perfect proportions
Excellent review. However, two points were missed. 1. Minimal odors when cooking with Power Air Fryer. Two: Reheating foods from your favorite restaurant is awesome.
I got the Power Xl PLUS 7 qt. And it's Awesome. It has the middle hinge that I can cook 2 different meals at once..as long as you spray the items a bit and pan. Nothing ever sticks...plus this doesn't heat or smell up the house with your cooking..I cook all kinds of meat, fish, veggies , pastry..anything...the Salmon comes out with crispy bottom. If you season it well and spray it with olive oil....plus. you have to give it a bit more time than what the booklet said....saves me time in the kitchen..can cook. Bacon, eggs. Sandwiches,Muffins... From breakfast to dinners to desserts... Just saying....don't give up on it, check out TH-cam for wonderful usage...
If you're predisposed to purchase one of these things, it wouldn't matter one whit what some youtube reviewer with perfectly matching makeup has to say. I agree that her tone started out with a negative bent, but overall she was attempting to deliver a well-thought-out and unbiased review. Certainly, the information regarding the lack of steaming abilities (without the need for additional purchases) was worthwhile to me.
great video, except the background music was a little annoying. After watching this video, I bought the larger version of this at costco, and have so far been pleased with the results. Initially I found the basket assembly was a little hard to push back into the machine at half time, but loosened up with use. The whole chicken came out brown and nice and moist inside. I stuck to most of the time recommended for most meals, but occasionally I had to adjust for smaller portions. fish came out nicely. I even cooked lamb chops in it. Easy to clean the basket by hand, but over time grease and oil seems to accumulate above the heating element inside, which gets a little messy to clean up. It's so quick any easy though, for smaller meals.
If you already have a convection oven that heats food by the circulation of hot air, then you don’t need an Air Fryer. But if you have a regular oven and want to make baked fries the Air Fryer can do this in 20 minutes, while a regular oven takes forever. It is not designed for steaming vegetables. I have a GoWise 3.7 QT, Fryer $$88.00 on Amazon and I love it. It is good for 1 or 2 people not a family, but there are larger models. It is not designed for whole chickens, but there are Countertop Ovens with Convection and Rotisserie that work great. You can make the salmon crispy, just cook a little longer. You can make an 8 inch pie by simply using the cake pan available or the bottom of the fryer lined with foil. But it is easier to use a regular oven. I use it for fries or beef, chicken or pork and it is fantastic, without having to clean an entire oven. The fries are not as crispy as the deep fried version but are delicious and you don’t need 2 Tablespoons of oil when one or none will do. I prepare my vegetables on the stove while my protein or fries are cooking. I’m a single guy who loves fries, now I can have Fat Free Fries that are 100 calories without guilt. PS: Just like a turkey if the skin is becoming dark, cover with foil until the temperature is correct, Chow!t!
@Kelly Trammell - I am glad to know about cooking from frozen. I have some chicken burgers that I wanted to cook but I did not see anything in the book about cooking from frozen.
Why would a appliance designed to fry food air steam, its made to replace deep fryer you can't steam in them either. Difference between this and convection oven is how they cook, over circulates air like hurricane from the sides while this from the top down like a tornado. I had mine for over year and cook in it all the time. Yes size is limited to basket size but so is a toaster oven or microwave.
I am thinking of purchasing this air fryer, not sure yet but I just wanted to say you demonstration was very good, and by the way your makeup looks beautiful.
When it comes to cooking a steak, and you want to turn it over to cook the other side of it, can you take out the fryer basket while the machine is on, or do you need to turn it off and reset the cooking temp and time?
Re: the salmon. if you cook it on a rack, the skin will be closer to the heating element and will be crispy. Halfway to flip time, rotate the rack north to south ....to even out the cooking.Half way .... flip the fish top to bottom ... and reduce the cooking time by 1-minute. Also, do the north-to south rotation half-way thru the final cooking period.Enjoy.
I appreciate your review and the information you shared was helpful. I have this AirFryer and I love it. For those of us, like myself, who aren’t fortunate enough to have a convection oven, this AirFryer is great. 😊
Just saw an infomercial. 😁 Needed a video on a review of this item, and well, you did a great job. All products should be used to its fullest, and shown to consumers, such as this well done video.
I purchased the other brand air fryer for wife for Christmas. Think I will just take it back. It doesn't cook enough for one let alone 2 people. Even tho Olga looks like she doesn't eat much no matter what products she uses. Thanks Olga.
A very good, well thought out testing of this air fryer. enjoyed it. I have a 3.4 qt air fryer now. Yes, too small. I plan on purchasing the 5.3 qt. Power Xl air fryer soon. Your video was excellent.
I found a video for steaming, the lady placed the veggies in a foil after seasoning them, made a pouch with the foil, added a few drops of water, and left a little opening in the foil, and said to cook them from 5-8 minutes, but no cooking temp was given, she also said to let the pouch sit for 3 minutes before removing, to let foil cool I assume, just use tongs instead...LOL
Hello, Great review. Very professional and honest. Appreciated the demos of real food being cooked. Great comparison of the pros and cons. Thanks for an awesome video. I think I will stick to my convection oven.
The handle actually has to be pushed in a tad before removing the inner basket, I thought mine was broken as well. If you push the handle in a tad and push the button, it releases much easier.
Thank you for your review!! I was looking at the air fryer, but wasn't sure if it would be something that would really help or just sit there. I have a large family, so I can see this would not work for us. Thank you so much!
Thanks for review. Like the Flavorwave, NuWave, etc...it is heat coming from the top, it HAS to be turned, and will 'need' to be turned over. Things will be more steamed than grilled/fried.
Really nice job trying different foods. The chicken looked amazing compared to size. ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROS NOT MENTIONED is a HUGE savings in energy using a 110 appliance verses a 200 amp stove that also affects the ac in the summer for a double whammy energy use! I wouldn’t give the not steaming a con if they give a option for product purchase considering this is a AIR FRYER NOT A STEAMER. The fact that it can steam should be a pro.
I have had one for a week and need to take it back to Sam's for a new one. Once it gets hot and cooks some, if I stop the cooking, it stops and won't start again until it cools down. Has anyone had that problem. I also have problems getting the basket out of the bucket.
Also, everyone would be wise to acquire a good pressure cooker (Not the ones on infomercials) they cook everything quickly, and make tough foods tender.
I have the 5.3 quart and I love it. The regular oven takes 15 minutes to preheat to 400 degrees the air fryer takes 3 minutes. Unless you are cooking an oven full of food the air fryer will be quicker and save you on electricity.

Right there is no way a whole chicken will fit and cook in the 2.4 qt. Maybe cook a half chicken but definately not a whole.
Just to inform; there now is a 3.4 qt. size. Just the thing, If your single or a retired couple.

I have the 5.3 and Cooking is soooo much faster now then Using the oven and wasting way more electricity . I'm single so it makes much more sense for me. You picked a chicken that was just too big for your size fryer. The separate accessories are a plus. I absolutely LOVE my fryer :-)
Thank you for that very informative review! I was on the fence on whether to make this purchase, but after your video, I saved $100. Thanks again!
I love your reviews. So thorough and very helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you! Glad you found this helpful! :)
I love mine. I use it every night. Have use the hot oven once sense I got it. Does not take hour to do baked potato. 20 and it is done...
I love mine, it does everything I want it to do. I will be going for the larger one, but keep this one for smaller jobs.
I can't thank you enough for that ultra honest review!! I've been looking for days at several models, reading any review I could find and being extremely disappointed at all the hype. Your video proved me right...it's nonsense...I have a convection oven and it works just fine...Thank you so much for not letting me waste my money!
I actually like when the skin of the chicken is burned
A very helpful review for me as I was gifted with this. Very happy to see how easy it was to clean also! Thanks for sharing this great review!
I really like her makeup. The colors work well with her complexion.
Jay Seven I was thinking that, too, throughout the video.
Best and most informative review yet for any air fryer on here. Thank you!
The company clearly stated that the bottom 2 sections are dishwasher safe. Also it does cook faster and unlike your regular oven it won't heat up your house and uses far less power. It will fit a 7 inch pie pan and qvc has the cooler and both pie pan and baking dish in the kit..
Thank you so totally for your thorough review! I wish ALL reviews are just as great...thank you so much!
One of the best reviews of any product I've ever seen...
Wonderful video for a senior about to purchase his first air fryer. Every question covered Awesome presentation. Many thanks !!!!!!
1 garlic powder... one sec, let me grab my jewelers glasses and tweezers.
Richard Smith 😂
funny!!!
This is the best review I have seen on this product! Excellent job!
I’m a guy who never used a oven in my life !! So this Air Fryer is really convenient for quick healthy meals.
I have the DeLonghi multi-fryer, i used it for french fries, ribs, chicken wings, fried rice, fried noodles, worth every penny!
Excellent review. I'm expecting mine this Friday and I can't wait to use it...
I bought one and love it. She don’t know anything about cooking!
I agree look at the way she talks just like a robot lol
@@pavy415 The lady gave her honest opinion on camera. Which is more than can be said for you and that moron above you.
Hi, dissert looks good!!
Can you please tell the recipe?
Thanks
I'm glad I sprung for the 5.3 quart one. I looked at the 3.4 quart yesterday and it is MUCH smaller. I like mine for the most part
Thank you, I was thinking about buying one of these. I don't need another appliance that I won't use.
Certainly, the information regarding the lack of steaming abilities (without the need for additional purchases) was worthwhile to me.
you do a fantastic job of making this plain and simple.
great video, except the background music was a little annoying.
Yes. I've been looking for videos to clean the inside top and nothing is cutting it
If you already have a convection oven that heats food by the circulation of hot air, then you don’t need an Air Fryer.
This was the most thorough review i ever saw in my entire life. Well done!
The power xl 2.4 is good for truckers. I got one from target an it's only 1200 watts. I cooked 2 ribeyes an they tasted great.
How much does the copper insert cost? Figured it might be high since never mentioned????
You cant put a con on the size of the cooker that was made for smaller portions. They do make larger sizes of the cooker.
I purchased the other brand air fryer for wife for Christmas. Think I will just take it back. It doesn't cook enough for one let alone 2 people. Even tho Olga looks like she doesn't eat much no matter what products she uses. Thanks Olga.
Thank you for the demonstrations, and your honesty.,
This was very helpful. Your excellent review saved me both time and money. Thank you very much!!!
thank you for great review. can you use aluminum pans or foil?
A very good, well thought out testing of this air fryer. enjoyed it. I have a 3.4 qt air fryer now. Yes, too small. I plan on purchasing the 5.3 qt. Power Xl air fryer soon. Your video was excellent.
use a 3 -1\ 2 to 4 lb chicken it must have room for air to circulate around it.
Hello,
Great review. Very professional and honest. Appreciated the demos of real food being cooked. Great comparison of the pros and cons. Thanks for an awesome video.
I think I will stick to my convection oven.
Another great review, I like how she keeps to the main points and doesn't add unnecessary commentary.👍
That makes sense. Thanks for the feedback!
Wonderful review!!! So much info, definitely helped. Awesomeness
How do you like this air fryer and does the fish really taste good! Thanx for a wonderful review!
Get rid of the over loud back-ground music & it might be more watchable.
Great review of the Air Fryer, thanks:)
absolut fabulous review accurat and honest,in all cooking pre sets too..great job XXX
Very thorough review, simple and easily follow
Thanks for the feedback that was very informative and helpful. Won't save me time. Already have a Ronco Oven.
They have larger options for this product as well so if anyone watching this has any concerns regarding the size there are different options!
There is a rubber block on the bottom of the outer basket at the front, does that remain there ?
Hi,, u know if is possible to low the volume of the air fryer? Specially when it finish the noise is to high,, thanks
This was very helpful, thank you for the in-depth review.
If you wanted to cook fried chicken and French fries at the same time what would be the correct setting?
