    For the dyson, you could ask DIYDanie to make you a custom hanger out of wood, in the shape of the dyson charger so it craddles the dyson perfectly and it stays firmly in place. I bet she can make it have a design, cute, or retro style, and add a "moment" to your closet ;)
    I would also advise storing your coffee pods in a box that lets you see each color/taste separately (there are very pretty designs out there to display them) that way you don't have to dig to the bottom of the jar to get your favorite one, and you know easily which one you have to fill up again before you run out ;)
    Very therapeutic video, thanks for the content!

    Love your videos! Just a note on storing jewellery in the bathroom though... the humid environment will speed up the oxidation process and cause jewellery to tarnish faster... and nobody wants that!

    I feel like you needed to keep a space open in the pantry closet for things that accumulate/need to be returned to the studio to live in the meantime if that's something that happens often or make a space for that elsewhere in the house. Took me years to realize this was an issue in my storage system and the main cause of the clutter pile that always seemed to exist and reappear. Once I made a specific shelf for items that needed to be returned to other places outside the home (items to take back to the office, purchased items that needed to be returned to the store/mail etc), my storage area never became a pile of clutter like that again!

    Well done! You can make a loop of something through the Dyson handle and then hang it on your pretty hook in the closet. A leather strap Velcro loops etc. are some ideas. And someone mentioned installing electrical in the closet if you have an outlet on the outside wall and that’s exactly what I was thinking it would be so convenient.

    Super satisfying and motivating to watch you organize! I do have one suggestion, I would add a shelf or 2 to the closet. From the before it looks like you end up stacking things in the free space, then you end up losing access to what's on the bottom. With an added shelf you won't have the option to stack higher and you will have more room to store more things and see them clearly.

    • @Beruthiel45
      @Beruthiel45 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree. I noticed that right away and it's also a factor in the tall narrow bathroom closet. Wide apart shelves with small items and lots of wasted vertical space.

  • @itzel1735
    @itzel1735 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    I use a rectangular pail on the floor in the closet to contain the brooms, mop, dusting pole, dust pan. It just feels less random. And I have an extra pail if needed. Four sided pails rock.

    Hey Alexandra, please keep in mind that for cosmetics etc. the expiration date is for when it's unopened. Once opened you should be able to find a little symbol on the bottle indicating how long it is safe to use for. For example: you should keep open sunscreens for more than 12 months.

    • @nicoleymotion
      @nicoleymotion 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Was coming to comment something similar. Definitely be careful with cosmetics, but things like sunscreen, lotion, hair products, etc. can be kept for longer than the expiration date, it won’t hurt you, they just may not be as potent.

    • @panoptischau665
      @panoptischau665 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    For hanging the dyson, attach the hook to a small piece of wood then screw that to the wall. That will bring the hook further out from the wall so the handle can fit and the dyson will hang properly

  • @mwyoung07
    @mwyoung07 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Always inspiring to see others declutter. Helps me feel a bit more motivated. You know for the dyson, you don't have to charge it inside the charging station. You can just plug it with the cord. That's what I did in my closet for the longest time because the cord wasn't long enough. I put the mounting station on the wall but would charge it by an outlet with just the cord. That may be a good solution for you as well.

  • @shivonna1

    You might want to see if you can get an electrician to add an outlet to the pantry. It costs about $350. I know it’s a rental, maybe your landlord will split it with you? It’s the best idea for that spot. If not, look up utility hook for the Dyson. There’s all kinds mostly for tools. That’s what will hold it.

    I was basically just yelling at my tv when you held up the Paula's Choice salicylic acid, but perhaps a more effective way to tell you what I think is to actually type a comment lol so I LOVE this stuff! I feel like to really see a difference you need to have combo leaning oily or oily skin where you have naturally larger pores that get congested easily. There is also a technique to getting the best results! I have found that using it every night is key. I didn't see a big enough difference to justify using it twice a day like it suggests. Also get your cotton pad pretty soaked with the product, you definitely want to have enough on there that your skin feels wet. Let it air dry a little bit and then go in with your moisturizer. When you wake up that top layer will be exfoliated and your skin will be softer and I feel like I just have a more natural glow! Hope this helps!

    Such a nice reset for the new year! I find an organizing tip for the bathroom is to use those turntables/lazy susans (often found in kitchen cupboards) for bottles and jars and sprays. You just spin them around to get what you need and you don't have to worry about knocking things over by reaching to the back of the cupboard for something or liquids tipping over in a basket when you pull it out. Just be sure to measure the depth of the cupboard before you check on the diameter of the turntable so it will fit. Happy New Year!

    you can get the mop holder with multiple slots on it for brooms etc, that way you can hang all the brooms on one side instead of having them sit on the floor of the closet

    I love the Paula's Choice Exfoliate toner! It's light enough for me to use every day (once a day) without feeling like I just swathed alcohol on my face. But still makes me feel like the product is "working" on my skin, giving me the gentle exfoliation I'm looking for without the stinging feeling.

    Get some of the Home Edit's acrylic organizers for your bathroom-they will keep it all under control. Looks good now, but you need a system to keepit going-sometimes that's the hardest part!

    Hello Alexandra,
    Did you know that you can separate the charger cable from the hanging part of the Dyson? At least I can in mine. So you can hang the vacuum in that closet but keep the charging gear apart and plug it to charge wherever you want to out of sight.

    In the many houses I have lived, I never found a kitchen cupboard had enough shelves (I don't like stacking bins, etc). For me I found it relatively inexpensive to go to Home Depot, and buy laminate shelving and the pegs to add extra shelves. You can even have them cut it to size right there. That way I can adjust my shelves exactly to what is in each one.
    Extra tip, put the shortest times on bottom shelf and work up - that way you don't have issues trying to reach stuff that, for example, are above something tall like cereal boxes.

    Alexandra!! Thank you so much for sharing your real house before you organized it. It always makes me feel much better that even people in the organization and interior design space have that happen to their homes!
    For the vacuum, try a wall mounted plant hanger. They have pretty metal ones in all kind of designs and colors. The hook on those usually sticks out so far, it might work for your vacuum. Thank you for being awesome!! ❤️

    In the closet, have you considered putting up some shelves on the left and/or right side walls? Just a thought if you find you need more storage or have unique/large items to store, such as your large Dyson fan. There's also wall space above the door if you need to hang another shelf. A 2nd thought, if you don't use your party supplies frequently, perhaps store them in the closet. Looks like there's even room to stack another apricot colored crate on the middle shelf. If you did so, you would free up some valuable kitchen cupboard space. Maybe even store some cups in the closet that you use infrequently??? I very much enjoyed your video. Happy New Year! 🥳

    Alexandra … hang the dyson charger in the closet and run a white extension cord along the baseboards to the charger. Just use clips to fasten the cord snug against the boards so it’s unobtrusive and you're golden.

    I love your cat and how comfortable she is in your house. Welcome back and I have to say beautiful organization and clean out of all your closets. I love watching your videos you rock. On another subject I have Paula's Choice 2% Liquid Exfoliant which I really love, it's doing wonderful things to my skin which tends to break out at times. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think. Happy day to you and thanks for giving us ideas about different ways to calm the chaos in our homes.

    Re Dyson (I’m answering while watching) - I have an all in one holder that sits on the floor (from Amazon), it has spots for all the attachments and for the charger, it’s not the prettiest but it’s functional. ☺️

    Hello! About the Paula’a Choice.. you MUST keep it! It literally changed my skin! If I apply it day and night personally, but do not do that of your skin is more sensitive. I also put it in my hands and apply it that way, I skip using a cotton pad to save the product! Love your videos!

    I use that Paula's Choice product. It's a cult fav, although (honestly) you might be too young to see super crazy results as our skin turns over less often as you age. BUT, I keep mine in a spray bottle and spritz it on my face. Super easy application.

    (Un)fortunately, due to a bathroom water pipe burst, my whole bedroom and bathroom was flooded, so I am deep cleaning everything out now. Despite the slow and steady progress, it's very refreshing to let go of unused and pre-loved items. Yay for cleaning and organising!

    We don't have an outlet in the closet where we hang our dyson either. We do keep it in the holder it came with and just have the charging cable separate. Charge base when it needs charging and then just put cable and vacuum back in closet.

    I had to hang my Dyson in the garage which is attached to the house so I put it with my Leaf Blower (next to the door) on hooks I bought from a hardware store. The hooks are not pretty but very practical. On Amazon they are called a Steel garage storage utility double hook but the hardware store had them in many sizes and I just picked quite a large size and they are great. The Dyson and Blower are both secure. I also bought a wall mounted broom and mop holder. That keeps all my stuff off the floor.
