To all the people asking "how is this scary", its not that it scares people. These logos, with their odd animation and highly unique sounds just create a heavy sense of uncanny eeriness in people.

Imagine seeing and hearing this on a little screen in Kmart that's dark and been abandoned for almost 30 years out of nowhere

Blocking Spongebob videos, ignoring fair use, and scaring people with their logos.

It's weird to think that as a kid, I thought I was the only one in the world who found the V of Doom logo scared the pants off him. Only to find that it scarred a lot of people back in the day. :D Nice to not feel so alone. Even now, I still get a slight chill from it.

It's the worn out VHS tape effect that makes it kinda scary :P

The scariness (more like eerieness) of this ident comes from the unexpected, very bombastic synth+timpani fanfare, coupled with the zooming of the V. Everyone and their dog makes comments here like "i don't see why this is scary". I can't explain it really well, as this was mostly a childhood phenomena. As a teenager or adult you are more desensitized (and besides, which grown person is scared of a flying V?), but to experience the true "fear" of this logo you just had to witness it as a young kid.

One of the earliest memories I have is seeing this when I was 3 years old. It’s obviously not scary now, but as a 3 year old, I thought the V was literally coming after me.

This used to MAKE ME LAUGH back in the day... I am Autistic and I tend to associate certain movements with certain things. The zooming V would make me think of the train coming out of the painted tunnel in old Looney Tunes shorts, and combined with the MUSIC... it just made me CRY WITH LAUGHTER every time. I would watch Andy Griffith just to see the logo. NOW you may ask, what logos DID scare me? TWO WORDS: WEISS GLOBAL. The spooky synth SFX gave me CHILLS, and not helping was the fact that it appeared at BOTH the beginning AND the end of Make Room For Daddy. Sometimes, I would not turn the channel fast enough and wind up UNNERVED FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. The original Viacom Pinball logo also creeped me out because the noises were reminiscent of VIDEO GAMES, which I feared for most of the 70s due to their SCARY BLACK AND WHITE GRAPHICS. Once Space Invaders came out, then I stopped fearing vidya games.

When I was very young (5, 6) I'd have to leave the room when this came on. Especially the b&w version. Couldn't handle it. Then in later years I became fascinated with it, as I did with other logos

To be fair, this is a pretty bizarre production logo.

I used to be dead-frightened of this thing as a child; I had no idea it also creeped out so many other people D:

I'm surprised Viacom didn't remove this video for "copyright," the fact this video is still up is an enigma.
