Beautiful Restoration. Spot on color match too! I love that casting. It was a foreign general motors Muscle car. Im gonna do another custom on one in the future. ROCK ON MY BROTHER 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Beautiful job, great call on removing the tow hook it really makes a difference in the back of the car. The color turned out fantastic, but you are a master of color and paint.
For some reason this car always reminded me of a Chevy Chevelle back in the early 1960's. I'm sure GM had a lot to do with that. The hood problem is common on this model when looking at photos on Ebay they are all like this! When I get one I think I'll custom paint it blue with a wide white stripe down the middle. Nice match to the original paint you did great and love your adding paint details on the ends Juan.😍
Hello Juan. You work the magic again. This was one of my favorites as a little boy. It looks vaguely like a cross between a Chevy Chevelle and a Buick Skylark. As a child I didn't understand GM owned German automaker Opel. A quick look in Wikipedia explains the history of Opel. You are so funny about the tow hooks! I always thought it was a fun accessory. Happy trails until next time! ☺
WOW Juan. Absolutely fantastic job. I've got this model to restore, and been shying away from because of the colour. After watching your video, I'm even more worried about it. Great JOB as usual!
Brilliant job on the Opel Juan, it look so much nicer with the added detail! I'm always amazed at how much the styling reminds me of Australian 65-67 (HD-HR) Holdens, then again they are both GM brands.
I think it was a well-done vehicle my buddy has one it's got an LS motor in it he got about six years ago he works for General Motors and he used some special type of high-performance peeing on it looks pretty cool actually I wrote in it the other day well done
Juan, You made me a very happy man. This car is my most favorite Matchbox car of all. I have approx' 18 in my collection and if I could afford more I would. I had one when I was a wee lad and it's still in my collection . Beautiful Job done on that one Thank you. P.S The bonnet is fairly troublesome on all this casting in one form or another. I think the hinge system has a slight issue in it's mounting, that one you have is actually pretty good.
Very nice job, Juan. Looks much better with the additional details you added. As for the hood (bonnet), don't know what can be done now that the model is painted. It would be difficult to bend the piece at the hinge point without damaging the paint finish. Regardless, the model is more than acceptable as is.
@@MatchboxResurrection , yeah, there's always a chance of that occuring, so better safe than sorry. Leaving it alone was probably the right decision. Looks good regardless. Cheers!
Great job on this one my friend, excellent paint and detail work ! The hood (or bonnet, sorry) looks like it's sprung. Happens when the hood is forced open or forced past its limits. I have not tried to repair one in that small of scale. At any rate this is another one you've brought back from the dead !🍻
I am Surprised that I like it as I never liked the actual vehicle. Excellent work. As far as the hood/bonnet. May suggest you wire wheel the area of and around the hinge. There may be a small burr or other contaminate out of exe site in the area.
Matchbox Resurrection it was just FYI i used to have a 1953 Jeep Willy’s ( my first car, my father was so mad when I purchased it) anyway I could never shut the hood so that it would fit right. Not to mention the bent chassis 😩
Every one of those has a messed up hood, some close better but it's like the hood is the wrong shape for the opening! Nice job sir! What kind of paint did you use on the chassis? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣🤣
I didn't even know these had hoods with hinges that were held in place. Mine just sort of sits there. I can't tell you how many times it got lost since I waa a 10 yr old kid it wayyyy back in 1984!
Trying to figure out what the Australian equivalent would be for this particular car. For those who don’t know, General Motors America sold cars in various countries under different names; Germany was Opel, England was Vauxhall and Australia was Holden!
sometimes in the bonnet casting the u joints a a little too long, when car is open and you see on the inside, open the bonnet and a light sand on the end of the u joins from bonnet cab most time fix the issue.

Do it mate ! and show me how to shoot the hood properly lol Rock on brother !!!!!!

Superb restoration of the Opel my friend .

Hi Juan, You absolutely nailed the color and the detailing makes the model pop. 👍👍🤒
Thanks Terry. This one was quite easy..

Wow I wouldn't say that much but thank you. And I absolutely hate tow hooks even more now than when I was a kid lol
Great looking restoration, love seeing them brought back to life!.....Bill

Love your detail work on the back! I like this casting, so I went and found one!
Great work, cheers.

Looks as fresh as it must have when it came out of the box. Plus a few extra needed touches. 'Nice!'

Top restoration mate...
Thanks Brian
A very tidy restoration Juan, the paint looks like a pretty good match. Like many others, the bonnet on mine was wonky too.☺
Cheers for now,
Dougie.

Nice one! Would love to see your collection one day.
I'm actually planning to do some sort of recap video showing some of my models in near future. I think it'll be fun... Thanks Yannick

i like it, its not an exact restoration, more like an homage to the old great lesney castings. well done with great paint and details.
Thanks mate
I think you have done a great job.

Excellent result Juan. The paint, both body and detailing is perfect. A bit of a loud splash when the window went in the pledge. 💦🔊

Great job on the German Chevelle.

Lovely work Juan. The detailing is superb, but you didn't paint the base? So what. You can't even tell. Again, lovely work.

Very nice, I wonder if there is a slight bend on the hood near the hinge?
I think it's been open too many times and somehow the hinge is knackered. Thanks Ray

Was OPEL owned by GM during the production of the DIPLOMAT?
I have no idea Jimmy.. I know that Opel had some deals with other companies to produce their cars under different name...but I'm not sure mate
