  • How the dinosaurs of The lost World: Jurassic Park would look if their geno was pure, according to the current scientific knowledge. This is not a critique of the movie, but a mere analysis for educational purposes. Size comparison chart also included.

    I'm might be a paleo fan, but I didn't mind scientific inaccuracies when it comes to genetically engineered animals because it's realistic, given the fact genetic engineering is hard, and there are other people who didn't do their research who made the dinosaurs wrong either by accident or on purpose, like in Primeval or SyFy mockbuster movies.

    • @Ezullof
      @Ezullof 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't see how using "reptile" dna would change anything in-universe since it's a technobabble reason anyway (and in fact the most famous examples of non-sexual reproductions are precisely lizards), and yeah they had procedures in cases of breach. The movies are precisely there to show them fail spectacularly.

    • @thedoruk6324
      @thedoruk6324 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Ezullof You either ignored the whole amphibians asexual (or gender fluid) reproduction situation or ignorant against it using reptile (in which not modern ones like monitor lizards whose capable of using parthenogenesis more like tuatara or crocodilian) dna would have ceased all the threat of reproduction additionally that would make the animals less active compared to amphibian dna on a more active environment
      The (procedures) you were talking about is only one that is talked about at The lost world that is they presumed without the right plant chemical material that they would starve to death in which they did not
      The company should just shot down or purge the clones and restarted all the process

    What I love is that you are not saying, "Jurassic Park doesn't do research. all of these dinosaurs are highly inaccurate" anyone who has watched the first movie or read the original book is aware that these are not real dinosaurs. they are genetically spliced clones borrowing DNA from modern animals to fill the holes in the genetic codes. as Dr. Grant said, "Genetic theme park monsters" of course they are not accurate, their DNA is not pure.
    If anything, I find this idea clever. science is constantly making updates on what dinosaurs look like so it can sometimes being hard to keep a consistent design as to what they looked like when more discoveries are made. T-Rex was bald, oh wait, now we know it had feathers, oh wait, now we know it may have lost its feathers when it became and adult so we're going back to bald, no wait, hear me out now, this is the newest discovery on what this animal may have looked like. I keep hearing so much back and forth
    So in my opinion, until we can 100% confirm what dinosaurs actually looked like, InGen's clones being purposely inaccurate because of impure DNA is actually genius. but again, it's just my opinion

Because they still want them to look scary and more impressive and are afraid to change their Raptors/Rexy mascots.
    Come on , the genetic thing was only there to explain how they were created ; There are no more excuses for the lack of realism in the JP franchise.

    • @MarioLanzas.
      @MarioLanzas.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The concept art at least was based on what is now Geosternbergia, the final design is more ambiguous. In any case Pteranodon appears in JP/// again with another design that fits longiceps better, so I considered this one to be Geosternbergia

    • @whitewolf3051
      @whitewolf3051 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarioLanzas. Okay, I'll accept that. But also, longiceps seems to be the more popular one, as well as the more famous one. Given the head of longiceps as the head of Swoop of the Dinobots in Transformers, making an appearance in the 90s X-Men cartoons, showing up in the book form of Dinotopia, the mini series and short lived TV series of Dinotopia, and was the longest used pterosaur in most media in and out movies or TV shows.
      Anyways, because of all of that, I prefer the longiceps, but that's just me. I doubt anyone else prefers the longiceps over others the way I do.

      it only changed the color scheme, so there's nothing to add

    Maybe there is no skeletal difference between male and the female (t rexes), but that doesn't account for flesh / muscle mass (which we can't really prove without having seen it.)

    "Geosternbergia"? So that Pterosaur is NOT Pteranodon?

    • @ultradragon999
      @ultradragon999 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be "Pteranodon Geosternbergia" which is the full name for the species....though some people say its actually "Pteranodon Longiceps"

      they had no design changes so there's nothing new to add about them

    Don't want to be nip picking here but the compy in the series didn't have a venomous bite that was the procompsognathus from the original micheal crichton novel, and also the troodon from jurassic park the game. And what, your telling me (or us) that the mamenchisaurus in the movie also has the DNA of a barosaurus? How come I did not know that!?

    Did you know that Brazilian fossils are, by law, the patrimony of the Union? That is, he must stay in Brazil, he cannot leave Brazil permanently, and without authorization if he stays temporarily, this in Brazil is fossil trafficking, an example is the most recent Brazilian dinosaur, the ubirajara jubatus, and Brazilian paleontologists were so excited anger that even launched a movement for him to return
