Roots in a forest. What a suprise!!
Volunteers help with trail maintenance, event coordination, communication, and environmental conservation. It is not paid for by some councils or a government organisation. Weather in NZ is often extreme so after a wild winter and spring you are going to have a lot of destruction of trails etc. You are not always going to get teams dashing out to redo signage every five minutes.
Looks like they are using far out. The official app is better for navigation. Ideally use nz topo map with the trail downloaded as a .gpx file and the background maps cached. Then its high precision and available off line
Embrace the mud !!! (Not what I would do but sounds good)
Lol was thinking the same but clearly days upon days of it would wear anyone down
great trip
thank you so much for watching!
Omg! I cannot believe the lack of signage! Frustrating and scary.
Thanks for another great vlog!
More like a lack of research into the trail.
The majority do not have any issues with the availability of a trail app, trail notes, WhatsApp groups, and plenty of signage if you can read or look up.
I’ve seen 70 year olds tackle these trails without a single whinge or moan.
@pj3635 I'm sorry, but I agree with Sarah that little pink bits of plastic in random spots is not adequate signage. Especially when you compare to other long distance trail like the Appalachian or the Bibbulman.
@ research trail markers
@ tape is not an official trail marker. It is either a temporary addition by a landowner (no control by TA) or it is actually a trap line.
Official trail markers are orange triangles.
Read the trail notes, if you find issues with markers, contact TA directly.
Like I said, thousands had made their journey through here prior.
@@pj3635 I know what trail marker is
