Started out with both pickups in parallel, which is the setting that gives the most full and even frequency response. The neck solo gives you massive mid-punch like a P bass. The bridge solo is the one that sounds the brightest. The Super Fatties have a lot of high-end zing anyway, combined with a heavy bottom. So it gives you a little more bottom than the other pickups do in that position. But you probably want to roll off the tone back to about eight to scrub off some of the real highs. Of course, you can do that with the EQ on the amp as well. Since I had no amp here, and no EQ stack at all, I had to remove a little of the highs with the tone control on the instrument. Running both in series gives a pretty full frequency response with a subtle mid-boost for a little bit of punch without being too in your face like the next solo is. As I think about it further, this is sort of an ideal pickup combination because the two pickups are so opposite each other, it gives a maximum amount of flexibility. The Super Fatty II has massive bottom and massive highs, while the P is designed for massive mids. They complement each other perfectly.
